The worst part about the Rougned Odor punch is we can never be certain which of the Rougneds Odor threw it.

Another game I wanted to touch up on... Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Reds did good in Philadelphia, winning 9-4. I even saw a highlight on MLB Network of Cincy robbing Philadelphia of a home run. Cincinnati's win was a combination of Dan Straily picking up the win and getting a Save from Tony Cingrani. It was Adam Morgan for Philadelphia that was the losing pitcher.
Straily left the game after 5 innings, allowing no runs. As mentioned, the final was 9-4. You can do the math with the bullpen...:yuck:

At least we won.

ESPN is saying that Odor punched Bautista as a vengeance for last year's bat flip, but I think Odor was just angry that a CLEAN slide made him throw HORRIBLY to first base. I mean that was way off and it's not like Bautista even touched Odor with the slide.

Clean slide, bad second basement. Odor needs to grow up and man up.

His only intent on the throw was to hit Bautista in the face with the ball. There was no other reason for him to go Steve Cishek mode with the throw. The slide was clean only because he did not come in spikes up but he did go past the bag and it was ruled as interference and was ruled a DP.

Texas is outraged over Joey's bat flip from last year but it is OK when they do it it seems. From the previous inning http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/mp4/2016/05/15/700902283/1463350317792/asset_1800K.mp4 Also ordering the code red with a guy who was in AA last week and prison last year is a weak move by Texas. Let the guy who gave up the HR instead of leaving up to the expendable guy.

Tigers beat the Twins 10-8 on the biggest fluke of the year. Both starters sucked tonight, and after being up 8-0 after the first, Zimmerman had a god awful day. At least the bullpen didn't go full tilt bullpen, and Ausmus' tirade after getting ejected was probably the only good memorable thing that happened from the game.

Hey, at least they won...and their bullpen is still miles better than the Reds'. My Redlegs had a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the 3rd tonight. We proceeded to get crushed the rest of the game, losing 15-6. Our starter lasted 4 innings, giving up 7 runs. The bullpen, also pitching 4 innings, gave up another 8 runs. Absolutely atrocious this bullpen is. For them, giving up "only" 3 runs in a game is a win.

Here's an update on their ineptitude: http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable.j...=rp&sortColumn=era&sortOrder='asc'&extended=0

The Rangers' relievers must have had a rough week as they inched closer to the Reds by breaking the 5+ ERA stat. We're still the only team over 6 though.

My Astros were off on Monday. That means we get to enjoy watching all the other teams beat each other up. :) We begin a series at the Chicago White Sox later tonight (it's Tuesday as of the time of this post). So I'll share some semi-random musings for this post.

* Something I noted from MLB Network this past Sunday was that on that day 75 years ago, Joe DiMaggio started that improbable streak of 56 straight games with a hit. Being able to be on a streak like that means you give your team a chance to win and that you aren't fooled by pitchers. I don't care what level of baseball it is- 56 straight games with a hit is nothing to sneeze at.

* Tim Lincecum has done his fair share of damage with the San Francisco Giants. It would be interesting to see how he would do should he go to another team. I've been hearing of Lincecum possibly staying in the state of California... only go to Southern California and switch leagues. That's right- imagine Tim Lincecum pitching for Patrick's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. I still consider Lincecum one of the dealiest pitchers in Major League Baseball.

* Here is a quick assessment of my Astros. We're 15-24 and the AL West doormat. Yeah... not exactly the "2017 World Series Champions" material. Not exactly the "ahead of schedule" Astros. The falling apart for the Astros happened late last season. The falling apart for the Astros this season is happening right now as it seems like it's past Midnight, and the Astros are in rags. Players are performing well... just that we've been on the losing end of scores more often than even at this time last season. The Astros are going to need to find ways to win and maintain advantages rather than fall apart and fall on their faces. Would you like to assess your own team(s) so far? Feel free to do so.

That's all for this post and some of my musings. Congratulations to all winners from Monday's games.

It seems umpire Doug Eddings might have had something to do with it. Red are called strikes.

Can't say I'm shocked to hear that, but a managerial change still won't help much because the Braves are just beyond terrible.

Odor suspended 8 games, will appeal. Toronto manager Gibbons suspended 3 games, he can not appeal. Elvis Andrus 1 game, more to come...

(Tree'd...)

MLB Network reported that Texas Ranger Rougned Odor picked up an eight-game suspension for his brawl with José Bautista, and John Gibbons (manager of the Toronto Blue Jays) got a three-game suspension for returning onto the field after being ejected. Also, the Atlanta Braves fired head coach Fredi Gonzales. The Braves currently have a series at the Pittsburgh Pirates. ATL has the worst record in baseball. So if you think your favorite team(s) is/are doing pathetic (granted it isn't ATL), at least they aren't the Braves.

Other than that, enjoy this Tuesday of baseball. Good luck to all of your teams.

Well deserved bans. I'm surprised they even suspended Bautista. To me he shouldn't have been punished at all but I guess a feet first slide into second base is grounds for punishment now

Impressive feat by the Reds tonight in their 13-1 loss. Reliever Steve Delabar managed to walk 4 straight batters with the bases loaded. His line on the evening? 0.1 IP, 0 H!, 2 ER (the others were charged to starter Simon), 5 BB, 1 K.

You guys missed having a streak so you are after new ways to fail.

Mets behind Thor beat Scherzer on two solo HR by Granderson (first pitch of the game) and later Conforto.

Pittsburgh was up 9-0 after 2 innings and beat the Braves 12-9 tonight.

In what seems to be typical of the Braves recently they even managed to mess up the firing of Fredi Gonzales, it is being reported that he found out about his firing when he received a conformation email for his return flight to Atlanta. But interim skipper Brian Snitker was informed of the decision before Gwinnett's game yesterday morning.

From what I have seen and heard I would say most Braves fans are happy with making a change, I think people were getting tired of how he was managing the lineup. Everyone knew that the team would be bad this year and that the future 2-3 years down the road looks bright with the talent we have in the minors. But I don't think anyone thought they would be this bad. Most people thought they would have 60-65 wins, they are currently on pace to not even get to 40.

"...and you can put that on the booooard! Yyyyyes!" What can you put on the board? An Astros win, that's what. We managed to defeat the Chicago White Sox 6-5, but this one had to be settled in 11 innings rather than 9. The game would have finished 4-3 had CHW not tie it in the Bottom of the 9th. Dallas Keuchel was our starting pitcher for this game, but the winning decision went to Pat Neshek and includes a Save from Tony Sipp. Former Astro Matt Albers was the losing pitcher for the Chicago White Sox. This three-game set on the south side of Chicago continues Wednesday evening.

Speaking of former Astros, I heard of Detroit Tigers' manager Brad Ausmus getting a one-game suspension for his recent tirade.

Congratulations to Tuesday's other winners, including the aforementioned Detroit Tigers running over the Minnesota Twins in MoTown.

2K K's is nothing to sneeze at no matter what level of baseball you play. All that does is just pad your career stats and improve your potential Hall of Fame chances. Justin Verlander is still plenty beast. I think he's got 2,003 strikeouts as of the time of this post.

A 2 run lead with 1 out in the 9th? Can't have that! Walk. Home run. Tie game. All is right in the world again. Good job, bullpen! 👍

5-3 was the score in the south side of Chicago as the Houston Astros defeated the Chicago White Sox. Doug Fister picked up the win for Houston as Luke Gregerson notched up another Save (his 10th, I believe). Previously undefeated Mat Latos (was 5-0 heading into tonight's game) was the losing pitcher for the Chicago White Sox. The finale to this series is tomorrow night before heading back home to Minute Maid Park for a weekend series against the Texas Rangers.

Congratulations to Wednesday's other winners, including the Atlanta Braves winning at the Pittsburgh Pirates. No, this isn't a typo- the Braves actually won today.

Did you know that the Pittsburgh Pirates are the only team that has not been shut out this season so far? They scored a few runs in a game in progress right now, so that stat remains intact. Hope you enjoy today's/tonight's games.

Yes I did.

Welp, the Reds got swept in their 4 game series against the Indians. On the bright side, our pitchers had their best performance of the series in their loss today. 7 runs. Yep, 7. In all, they gave up 15, 13, 8 and 7 throughout the week. Fantastic job...

We're coming back to Houston for the weekend, and we're coming back with a 2-1 loss tonight at the Chicago White Sox. No shame losing to Chris Sale. Sale got the win for CHW while Collin McHugh picked up the loss for HOU.

Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... our best friends from Arlington will come down for a weekend series. Houston Astros. Texas Rangers. Minute Maid Park. Battle for the Silver Boot. Be there.

Congratulations to Thursday's other winners, including the Nationals whacking the New York Mets in Flushing.
