It was kind of a weird event yesterday with many happenings. But it was also a lot of fun.
At Nürburgring I started with a good pace, the old Fairlady was definitely the better choice compared to the Lancer. Tacom was following me in his Silvia and we managed to gain quite a gap. But as very often I flew off on the long fast lefthander before Wehrseifen.
My concentration was really lousy through the rest of the lap which made tacom drive away by 15 sec and
@amarynceos appear in my rear view mirror. I managed to drive more clean on lap 2 and could keep
@amarynceos 2 sec behind me long time. Another fault shortly before Döttinger Höhe allowed him to try an overtake out of the slipstream. We were going side-by-side into Tiergarten, I lifted the throttle a bit to not fly off and was afraid he could pass me. But somehow he wasn’t able to and I could keep a minmal lead on the finish line.
Monza in those Luxury cars was intense.
My Maserati was really fast and I had no problem to keep up with the leading
@Handlebar on lap 1. But before Parabolica he braked a bit earlier than I expected so I had to sheer out to the left and found myself in the gravel. That’s why
@amarynceos could pass me easily. If I remember right he missed the first chicane afterwards so I was close behind him again heading Della Roggia. I was lifting throttle quite early but obviously braked not hard enough. Actually I was focusing on the gap too much and didn’t realize early enough he was too fast and hitting the wall. That’s why I hit him hard just after he ran in that wall. Furthermore I was hit by
@LongbowX from behind aswell, he seemed to be pushed. So this was a really huge reaction incident.
My car was all broken and I was struggeling to reach the pits. Pitting after 2 of 10 laps was quite a disadvantage. But I could run a good pace and was able to drive the fastest lap. Due to obvious incidents of other racers I was in third place soon. My tires were down to 7 from lap 7 or 8 on. So I tried not to slide or brake hard. On the other hand I recognized that my tank was running out of fuel and I probably wouldn’t make it till the end. So I did what modern F1 racers do so often: lift & coast.
I was happy when I saw
@Handlebar pitting for a second time on lap 10. My throttle lifting distances got bigger and bigger but it all didn’t help enough. Out of last Parabolica my fuel was gone.
At least I only had to let
@Handlebar pass again and could keep
@LongbowX behind me just 1 sec.
Brands Hatch was also full of action. I was fighting with
@John Wells throughout the first laps. It must have been on lap 3 when I braked later on the inside going into Druids. But it seemed like tacom tried to pass aswell, I don’t actually know what exactly had happened.
But there was a little crash and my left rear was broken. Luckily it was not as much of an influence and I managed to head the pits without losing too much time. Tacom and I had another little crash on the in-lap again but I don’t think anyone was guilty. But it seemed he felt guilty, waited for me and was going in the pits right with me. I don’t know if his car was broken aswell or it was meant as a concession.
After that we were going pretty fast and I could do the fastest lap again.
@Cu3e was too far in front but it must have been too boring as he was calling the GYF (Gentleman’s Yellow Flag) on lap 9 of 11 and waited for all of the other cars behind him.
It was my first GYF ever but I had read about it on the Zero Cup Thread and knew what it meant. Then one time under yellow flag tacom was braking pretty hard and I recognized that a bit too late. So I had to brake hard aswell to not hit him. It worked out tightly but sadly
@LongbowX couldn’t avoid bumping my rear. Fortunately my car showed no damage reaction though the 2 rear tires were blinking red.
On the last 2 fast laps I could overtake tacom again and catched up on
@Cu3e. I was really close and tried a maneuver but my Ferrari 365 had no chance against the Countach on the finish line.
That was my “little” event review. I really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to Track Day on Friday. If all racers from yesterday could appear we could have quite a field.
See you!
