In any case, I'm with Whistle Snap. Some locations like Willow Springs mapped out to 10-ish klicks, and with alternate layouts there already, would be super as Course Maker Themes. Other Side of the Mountain?

You truly are a god, arent you?Four huge open environments with a track, maybe these are possible Course Maker themes? I believe they will be, why else would they build these tracks this way?
When the other tracks are like tunnels plonked in the middle of 360 photo of the backdrop, so no possible way to use them in Course Maker.
Maybe this is what Kaz means when he said the course maker was in beta?

I recognize this as the Alain Prost Karting facility at LeMans but are you saying it's a completely separate map in the database? As in these tracks are actually modeled as a drivable course or just part of the scenery like other kart tracks, Spa for example.When the other tracks are like tunnels plonked in the middle of 360 photo of the backdrop, so no possible way to use them in Course Maker.

It's all that, new data available from the last update or just something found randomly inside the game?
If is new data, are probably updated tracks that will replace what are currently in the game. I don't think anything of that have any relation with a future course maker. Seems to me the differences between streamed and full loaded at memory tracks. Not all tracks are modelled with the same specs in mind. If the current tracks are placed at the center of the vast environment and can be seen fully detailed will confirm what I said.
So be cautious with all the hype.

From the video it looks like it will be pretty reminiscent of Spa or Suzuka. It's not as narrow, bumpy, or as tight and twisty as the 'ring or Bathurst, some sections seem to have barriers and racing curbs, some don't -but either way, I think it leans more to the 'track' feel than the 'country road' feel.

I noticed at launch that Willow Springs was modeled out to a large distance; Bathurst is also noticeably large thanks to the view from the mountain. It doesn't, of course, mean that they're course maker locations per se. I'd suspect it's more likely to be that these tracks make use of a newer modeling technique, that possibly takes advantage of tech developed for the course maker's huge locations (i.e. large draw-distances first seen with SSRX, geometry streaming etc.).
I have noticed that Willow Springs, among others, is screaming out for an open layout, especially if it comes with an autocross / gymkhana editor (GT Arena: "You can also remove the cornerstones and corner barriers to set up a variety of attractions using cones."). That's potentially a separate thing from the course maker as we knew it in GT5, though.
It's also fun to remember that Ascari is just up the road from Ronda.
