I've saw quite a few posts referring to the 22 cars passed like it is something new and/or means we should be able to have this in online mode.

As others have said there is never that many cars visible on the screen. I don't remember seeing more than 2 or 3 AI cars at the same time.

Also it is nothing new in terms of number of cars. I did not count the cars in the full lap AMG event on GT5 but it seems like there was a lot of them. I would think more than 22.

At any rate I am looking forward to the track and am hoping that it will be available for online racing and test drive mode. If it were only a special event it would be a major disappointment.

Yes,

Excellent can't wait to give it a thrash around the Nurburgring

I just counted 12 opponents on the GT5 AMG Academy Intermediate lap (the suspension model is so goofy now).

I think the 22 cars is achieved with a trick. Either the limit is in storing the visual data in memory, so they can have lots of "simple" opponents that are simulated with more detail the closer you are to them, and only those closest have their models loaded (and they're streamed in, lowest LoD first). Or they just recycle the models, put new stickers and colours on them and use the same "simple" AI trick. Or, they just delete them outright when "out of range".

Rendering isn't an issue if you reduce the LoD, which can be effected simply by spacing the cars out a long way.

It'll be interesting to see, especially if you can shift viewpoint from car to car in the replay...

I bet all of my hair you will cant shift the replay viewpoint on that.

On your head be it! Or not, as the case may be...
Not sure why are people getting their hopes up for the update to be released today, only to be disappointed when it's not released. The update is scheduled to release this week and the week is not over yet.
The week is already nearly half-over. PD are running out of time. You'd think when they said "next week" they'd get it out nearer the beginning, it's looking like the week after now. If it's not out by tomorrow, I'm officially done with Kaz.

(Amidoinitrite?) :P

Some things I noticed while watching the video.

1) Right at the end of the video the credit count increases 3 times with 4 different criteria (one gave him 0 credits.) I think, and I'm speculating of course, the criteria are the number of cars you overtake; the time it takes you to complete the full lap being under a certain time; the amount of time left on your countdown timer for each section; and some other bonus which he didn't achieve at all.
2) The track appears to be split into sections (I didn't count how many.)
3) There is a timer counting down on the screen which seems to reset when you pass into the next section.

I'm thinking 2 & 3 could explain the 22+ (I say "+" because as said in a previous post he didn't run a perfect lap) cars on track. If you cross into the new section the timer increases so at that point if you stop on track the cars in the previous section are no longer relevant and will probably be removed from the "race" at which point new cars spawn in the current section.

Did anyone notice if the numbers on the side of the opponent cars are counting down or sequential in any way? Or what the number is on the side of the player car?

I could be wrong but I think the one he got no credits for might be for running a clean lap, he did hit a few walls.

I can't remember what it is called but the one I was referring to is the final part where you run the SLS a full lap in the rain seems like I passed a lot more than 12 cars on that run

I'm not sure if I am in the minority in saying this but the track looks very disappointing. It looks like a poor-mans Nurburgring, with too many long straights and not enough tight and twisty sections. However, I will reserve final judgement until I actually drive the track.

GAME OVER

INSERT COIN TO CONTINUE

*inserts coin - bing!*

The rest of this arcade game will be made available in a future update.

GAME REALLY OVER
But what should the game over screen be like? Oh wait, I have an idea...

According to my count, this guy passes 13, but there were at least 2 further up the track he didn't get to.

50% of GTPlanet will love this instantly.

The other 50% will complain about how this update bought nothing new, and the game is still broken, and they probably won't be able to resist mentioning Project Cars. They whinge about it being too arcadey, and how they are done with the GT franchise if this is what Kaz thinks we want..

... it's inevitabruuuuuuuuuuuu!

Call it what you like, not relevant. You can call it Snoopy if you like, doesn't matter.

Honestly it looks like a new event. Timed sectors or whatever, nothing is clear enough to say anything with certainty.

Its hilarious how you make connections that do not exist because your too hyped up for CM.

1)
2)
3)
4)

All have no direct connection to Zahara. They are relevant to GT6 yes, but no ties to Zahara beyond your speculating.

Number 1 looks more like a new special event vs something out of GT5 CM.

I'm not trying to get you guys into a twisted pair of panties. There is just too much speculating going on, its getting too close to being reveilled the board is on edge. So don't take my comments so personal. IMO CM had nothing to do with Zahara, IYO it built the track. Let's agree to dissagree

Its a box with poison and a cat inside. The cat is both dead and alive until we open the box
so the CM is simultaneously in GT6 and not in GT6? or is it Zahara/Sierra? :P

So TorqueWrench, racing a 5 or 10 race championship with a points system to see who comes out on top isnt your cup of tea ?
Fair enough mate, its only the biggest foundation of which the motor sports world is built apon.
Online championships would do alot better for GT6 than 1 track.
that's your priority? just grab the good ole' pen and paper and write down the results, do some easy math, and give the results in the chatbox...

This is the best content addition ever in GT6 - it exceeds my expectations. I was simply waiting for the track and some time trials but this absolutely brilliant.

Feels amazing to watch - great vibes :)

"Too many straights" - but Monza or La Sarthe is fine right ? I find blasting thru a road like that amazing due to small width and sense of speed. (plus that landscape)

"I don't like jumps" - I do - in moderation which seems to be the case. It's not like we have a jump every 500m.

"Too arcadey" - some wanted GT to be more fun, PD delivers and I thank them for that.

"No city section" - well here I agree, I was was hoping for it as well.

Also looks like all 3 cars from recent news are included in 1.12. 👍

FT-1 Vision (just further confirmation)
Monza and La Sarthe are real circuits, with its own chicanes, famous, tricky and technical corners designed for racing. It´s not comparable.

On the other things I´m agree.

And I for one would complain, Afterall I did buy the game and all I got was a beta version, Oh and as for the arcade thing I would think people would complain since the game is sold as and classified as a simulator, False advertising much ?

I hope this new update doesn't have another gig to download. I've yet to download the goddam update 1.1 (or something) because of that stupid 2 gigs of ultra high quality videos.

Ridiculous...

It just felt like the perfect opportunity to complain :)
