Maritime Law—Rules of Online Racing

So, I was wondering, what is the etiquette for online racing? What are the rules of overtaking and blocking online when there is no pre-mentioned guide?

I ask because I was just in a room called “clean or boot” and after making an inside pass on the last hairpin at Cote d’Azur, I went straight into the last turn, which is pretty tight, and I’m not sure if the guy I passed was along side me and ran into a wall; it was the last lap and I won. I heard some chatter on the mics from the host and someone else (might’ve been the guy I overtook), but mainly, my question is, who’s at fault based on this? I would figure him, since it was tight, I overtook, and he should've let me go. I didn’t have time to save the reply before I was kicked…I was going to type a text asking if something was wrong, but got kicked before I finished typing…I need a mic… The only words I could hear from them were “WRC” (my car), “bump,” and “let him say something.”

I’d like to know, just personally, what is the general etiquette, regardless of it’s enforceability?

P.S.—Damn, this might belong in the Q&A section…my apologies.

If you were in front and on the racing line it's up to your opponent to either let you go or attempt a risky overtaking manouvre, if they try the latter and get hit, it's their own fault.

I did a fair bit of racing on iRacing towards the end of last year, and generally i turned off comunications with other drivers during the race. Personally i think thats the best way for it.

However iRacing is a different game, you cannot boot people for a race. if an accident happens the blame falls to both the drivers involved, and if you think you were wronged you contest it by contacting iRacing and they will look at it.

Obviously this can't work in GT5, but generally accidents will happen and you can't instantly throw the blame onto someone else or vice versa. GT5 has no ranking system so you will be driving against drivers of all skill levels, and there will be players who don't take the racing seriously.

The fact that people can boot you means theres nothing much you can do, if you're right or wrong, if the host is playing with a friend he is gonna boot you if thats what he feels like doing.
