Drove a variety of cars, Large Theatre RFX@120.
LFA,XKL,XKR,430,ISF,512BB etc etc etc

Cockpit has better noise damping, so its not as loud, but overall most cars have more pronounced low end, and sound especially vicious in replays.

The ISF did sound a bit weaker more like a sportier XFR, which still sounds like raspberries.

Doppler effect is less 'wet' , cleaner w less WOOSH.
Effect of distance improved, cars can be heard while driving away, sounds like a touch of reverb was added to liven things up.

BUT PD SERIOUSLY, can we lose that cheesy 'ambience' loop w spectators cheering and clapping and blowing horns while i do time trials , and its just as useless during races, who claps that loud to be heard over a 430Sc's racket??

Overall i like it, just gotta crank it up a bit and roll off some HI end, but damn i love that low end when im downshifting.

Sound engineer? You sound like one ....:)

The ISF RM (Not the RC) has a more of a rasp to its engine note now. Not sure if I like it, makes the engine seem a bit smaller that it is. It sounds like the FTO Touring Car (pre-update), not as high pitched, but does sound quite similar, mainly when shifting up.

I don't know if he is but I am a sound engineer. Besides the *racing* part of racing, the sound of race cars is my favorite part of racing. I pay very close attention to it and, while we'll never get 100% accurate sounds in GT5, I like the fact that they are trying to improve the sounds of the cars in the game.

The ZR1 RM Vette sounds a lot better now. Not 100% accurate but it's nice. I drove 10 laps around La Sarthe and it was nice. Sounded much closer to the real thing.

Here's the real thing...

The LFA has much better enginesound now. It feels like you actually drive a sportscar and i like it!

Man you gotta love these kinds of threads...

Is there a significant difference now between RM versions and the regular cars they're based on (with the same exhausts)?

Haha no but I dabble, i guess im more of an Audiophile.

Always on the hunt for a better sound, recently ive thought of feeding the PS3 into a small Tube preamp then my system, to give all sounds a meatier more dynamic feel.

Ford V8s sound nothing like that...

I don't know I guess I need to listen to the V8 sound samples from the Fords (Mustang, GT, Mark IV) because the ZR1 RM seemed to sound eerily similar to the sound samples used for some of those cars IIRC.

I can agree with the majority of everyone else on the IS-F Concept sound, though. It really is a downgrade and it doesn't sound good at all anymore.👎

Did they change the sound of the c6, so now it doesnt sound like a 4 banger with the racing exhaust? Please tell me this is true.

SLR sound more agressive somehow...
few minutes ago y was racing with a SLR on SPA.. when other car surrround me it was a new experience, the sound of the rest sounded stronger I dont know how to say it.. the make at least in my opinion more dyamic, not perfect but a little bit better.

Althought, some cars...well they dont sound as they should.

Ok, so I tried the ZR1 with the racing exhaust and it sounded the same. But surprisingly, when I did the RM mod, that thing roars like a Nascar! I have to say, this is like having a new car in the game. It still sounds a bit strange, but it's definitely a V8 what I'm hearing now, and that's what matters to me. And the iddle sound is brutal. Thank you PD!

Though I'm kind of dissapointed that I lost one of my cars. The IS-F Concept. The sound that it had before was the nice racing V8 that most cars have, but although it sounded great, it didn't really fit this car since DTM's have flatplane V8 engines. The now sound however, is terrible... Maybe if they used the sound that the Super GT Nissan GTR's have, that would make it more convincing.

Oh well, maybe in Spec III

cabezzz

It's kind of wierd what PD did. They changed the sample of the racing exhaust on the C6 ZR1, but only if you do the RM mod. It sounds exactly like one of the new Nascars which is great. However, if you change the exhaust on it without the RM it will still sound like a 4 cylinder. The C6 Z06 hasn't changed at all...

The sound of the Rm'd version always sounded like that. I honestly don't get why people tend to hear and or see things after an a update that haven't changed.
Illusions my friends illusions

Anyone tried the Stealth Merc? That car shared the sound sample with the ZR1, hopefully they took care of that too...
What still amazes me is how they manage to patch one thing and still completely mess up another! The Racing Concept wasnt right before and it's still not right yet. They absolutely murdered the Saleen S7. What they need is a dedicated update for re-arranging sound samples:

-The sound sample used by the Falcon Super V8 should be used for every modern Ford V8 with a racing exhaust.
-The sound sample used by the R8LMS should be used by every V10 car with a racing exhaust.
-The sound sample used by the Veyron's racing exhaust should be used by any V12 car with a racing exhaust.
-The sound sample currently used by the Ford GT Race Cars should be used for the bigger displacement V8s with a racing exhaust, RM Z06/Stealth Mercedes SLR, ect...
-The sound sample used on the Integra RM should be shared with the Subarus using a Racing exhaust.
-The sound sample currently used by the GT by Citroen Race Car should be shared with the V8 Ferraris using a racing exhaust and the Super GT NSXs.
-The sound sample used by the Skyline GT-R R35 with a racing exhaust needs to be shared with the GT-R R35 TC and every other V6 car with a racing exhaust.

It's no illusion... my friend.

It didn't sound nothing close to a V8 engine before. I've played the game since release date and used the RM ZR1 a long time before even Spec II was released and it sounded terrible. Haven't used the car until now.

Either if the sound was chaned before 2.06 or after, I don't know. But anyone can agree that the sound was changed at some point. The RM ZR1 now sounds like a V8. Before it didn't. Period.

Normally I'd agree with you on your second statement. But this time the car did get a new sound sample along with the Camaro RM, Lexus Racing Concept, Saleen S7 and Silvia RM(now sounds like a V6). The rest of what I've read here is just the placebo effect you mentioned on your 2nd statement.

Wait so the the ZR1RM still sound like VTEC IS KICKING IN YO the entire time or is I actually a V8 note now?

ZR1 RM = V8 with broken headers
Road ZR1 + Ti Exhaust = Mad VTEC

No, I guarantee you the sound is different my friend. I am an avid fan of the ZR1 (hence the screen name) and have spent the most time of any car in the game in that car. I have tried every different exhaust combo on a ZR1 RM or not and DEFINITELY know the exhaust on the RM ZR1 is changed and is leagues better as well. :)

I'm talking in real life. GT5's sounds aren't even remotely close. Most of their idles are almost identical to the startup sound of the old Charger/Challenger.

Tried the Lexus IS-F racing concept, if you compare it with the pre 2.06 sample:

It really sounds like another kitchen appliance now 👎 (coffeegrinder in action still being my favourite).

Ps gave the FTO super touring car a go, and that one get's my rate of approval definitely like the new sound +1

And edit; Saleen also added to the coffeegrinder club, horrible and annoying sound now.

If anybody could make a couple videos of these cars with the new exhaust sounds, that'd be great. I'm too lazy to dig up or buy these cars to see for myself. :P

I've been digging around and not found any, I'll link them in OP as I find them.

For anyone's information, this is the sound it got replaced by:

Utter ridiculousness, PD. You get one thing right and then something else wrong.
