I remember player MGS when it first came out and I didn't like it just like I don't really like Splinter cell either. The graphics are good but I'd still rather play Killzone.

I'd rather play the next gen killzone too but that doesnt mean the game looks just "ok". To me its more of a showcase of what to expect with out leaving people guessing like the killzone(pre-rendered) demo. I'm more exited about the capabilities of the hardware than a game I may not play or buy. Just so you know its running 1920x1080 at 60fps.

This was on a 2.4ghz- 7800GTX and not a full spec system

I just saw the trailer and I LIKE. I've never played and MGS game except for a 15-minute demo of the first MGS on the original PlayStation (dock to the DARPA Chief's cell), but I have followed the series fairly closely because of my friends tendency to discuss the plot and story at length, never thinking I'd pick the games up.

My favourite part was probably Otacon's robot when Snake lit up, with the little No Smoking icon flashing in the middle of the screen and both Otacon and the robot coughing and trying to wave the smoke away.

Yes, Otacon proving he's none too co-ordinated with the machine's controls when it danced around and roceded to fall over was another favourite.

I think that was a joke about Sony's Cell processor. Which I found very funny too.

What a joke! That is like a Democrat telling you what he thinks about President Bush's speech.

Microsoft obviously feels threaten by what Sony is showing off. Microsoft thinks that they have to send out their cronies to attack Sony, because no one was paying attention to Microsoft at TGS. Nintendo's Revolution and Sony's 170+ game support eclipsed what Microsoft had to say.

You know, I once read an article in a magazine a while back that was interviewing somebody from Sony. They were asked, "How do you feel about the Xbox?" He responded fairly, "It's a good console, but it wont have the game titles we have. Performance wise, they are nearly equal, but we beat them with varity of quality game tiitles." Not really word for word, but damn close to what he said. Why can't MS ever admit something like that? They don't have the games, or the performance, anymore to even be compared to Sony and their PS3.

The Xbox had some good looking games, especally in HD. That's why, including my son wanting one for Christmas, I bought it. I was not disapointed in how the console performed, but for the lack of great games available for it. There are no games for the Xbox that make me want to buy it. There are at lest six games for me NEEDING me to buy a PS2, and at leas three for the PS3. Xbox360 is, once again, a big fat zero.

I've never understood this belief people have that because they have a console by one manufacturer the others must be tripe! It's even worse coming from professionals who should know better. Being so dismissive is a form of ignorance. But I guess they're following the company line.
Surely anyone who has a genuine interest in games would appreciate a good game whoever makes it on whatever console.

Because they're Microsoft. When have they ever admitted they're wrong? You don't get a dialogue box in Windows XP reading 'Sorry, we just realised your way of doing this is better' or 'We'll do exactly what you want instead of what we think you want from now on' do you?

I just saw the trailer and boy that was amazing.......seeing the dust and paper debis floating around was breathtaking......Its definately a console worth waiting for......and this time there is no moaning that it is pre rendered because there is no way the a games developer would specifically say these are the real games footage and then be caught for lying.

......the joke about the cell processor was quite good and it enables the promotion of both the console and game in one vid.....

At the start you see PLAYSTATION 3 flash across the screen......that will probably be the new load screen (remeber when playstation 2 flashed across the screen and made that sound)......its good to see they are keeping it basically the same although why they didnt keep the PS3 letters for the consoles shell doesnt make sence.........maybe now they want to make it more grown up.......

Microsoft moaning yet again because they are sore losers......

Oh well........another great game to buy along with Killzone 2

I´m not really worried about the next gen yet. I like to read the news and watch these game trailers, but I´m not planning to buy one of these machines before 2007. There´s lots of good games coming out for the PS2, they´ll keep me ocupied for a long time.

Things look better on Sony's side so far, and my intention is to get a PS3 for the next gen. Same reason why I got the PS2 instead of an Xbox, games. But who knows, I have one and a half year to decide yet, and MS might surprise me.

As far as Sony making fair comments and MS not goes, thats bull. I've read comments from Sony officials the try to completely trash MS and the XB360, and vice versa. Sure you get the odd one on either side that will make a fair comment. But Sony arn't the good polite boys, neither are, they btoh rip at each others throats given the chance.

Master chief is the main character in Halo, it's a different thing, Master cheif will be used to promote Halo just like Crash bandicoot was used to promote Crash games on the PS1 thoes many years ago. His argument is valid in that they havn't done what Sony has done but it's not a sign of weakness or worry, it was done more for fun. Didn't he notice how the robot fell over trying to twirl around as he said it.

It's more than a few times I've seen mentioned the amazement at MGS4's smooth 60fps@1080i compared to forthcoming 360 games. Surely some 360 games are at 60fps? It'd be a backward step if they aren't.

yeah the first in game pics of the 3rd generation consoles was from xbox360, i thinked: wow!! amazing graphics! and then I saw ingame pics from PS3 and i was like: WOW!!!!!!! this is twice as good as xbox360!!!

Just stand back for a second and think about whats been said by both parties and what is been shown.

PS3 showing Killzone 2 & MGS4 (i know there was more but these are the standout titles to date), both ingame both running 60fps and both will be High definition.

X360 showing Gears or war & PGR3 (again standout titles for this particular console), both look good but run at 30fps and not confirmed High definition. But with full screen AA.

But if look are what make you buy a console then It has to be the PS3, as it caters for the future of TV and gaming with its High definition and BR drive, Xbox dosnt tick these boxes.

If you love playing games then and consle will have its graces and its falls, personally i would rarther have a PS3 and a Revolution. Ive played alot of games like all of the people here and having fun with a game is my first port of call, second would be the looks. MGS4 looks stunning for inagem so dose killzone 2, anyone who says otherwise dosnt know what they are talking about and are probably **** stirring, but if they dont play as well as they look real gamers will walk and play another game.

With all these debates with popular games for the next generations of consoles, it looks like the PS3 will still have better games than the Xbox360. What about the online features?

Will Metal Gear Solid 4 have some kind of online play to counter MS's big game like Halo 3? Sorry if the question sounds kinda dumb, because I haven't read many info on MGS4 yet.

You know, I think it's so damn funny that MS is already discussing price breaks for the XBox360, before it even hits the streets! A huge sign that MS knows they are in trouble.
