Does anyone know if PDs choice of Midfield Raceway was a result of the suggestions forum? @Jordan? Can this be a future interview question?

They are indirectly implying that with this statement obviously:

The track was always at the top ranks of user requests, right next to the Seattle circuit.

Unless you know some other GT Forum that has a suggestion list with Seattle and Midfield on top?

... Is this the GT3 layout or GT4 layout? They modified the chicanes I think in GT4...

I know they are implying it... but I want a confirmation that they actually listened to us. They could've added this track just 'cause they like it... lol

Cannot wait to get back on Midfield in GT6. One of my favourite tracks from the GT series. :)

Also, standards don't look that bad from far away. The only way to differentiate them from premiums when looking far away is the blackened windows. So are these cars premium? I would not count on it.

Looks like it was rebuilt from scratch in a manner similar to Apricot Hill.
I didn't mean the model. I meant the layout... did they keep the sharpened corners?

Trivia
  • After GT3, Midfield Raceway's Turns 1 and 2 were sharpened slightly.

edit: You forget how much graphical computing has improved until you see the old stuff again. lol

8GB is more than enough for a game like GT running at 1080p with reasonable graphics detail. GT7 will surely be 1080p, the difference is reasonably small compared to GT6, and really really small if you consider the memory difference in both systems.
I know that if you try hard enough you can always make a system run out of memory... But I think PD developers are not as stupid to implement ridiculously unnecessary stuff like 3D realistic grass or highly detailed 3D moving trees.

"PS4 has a distinct advantage with faster 8GB GDDR5 memory, while Xbox One went with the slower bandwidth of the 8GB DDR3 variety. But, wait, there's more to it.

Neither system allocates all of that RAM to game developers - some is reserved to run their operating systems.

PS4 reserves up to 3.5GB for its operating system, leaving developers with 4.5GB, according to documentation. They can sometimes access an extra 1GB of "flexible" memory when it's available, but that's not guaranteed."

Personally, I always thought that all 8GB was available to developers, minus whatever the OS is using, of course. I was shocked to learn that 3.5GB is reserved for the OS. It just sound like an awful lot of RAM, but I'm not a PS developer. Regardless, I agree with you @NixxxoN, I'm sure PD will do amazing things with the resources available from the PS4 platform. They've stretched the PS3 about as thin as it gets. Hopefully GT7 knocks our socks off. If it doesn't, I probably won't be purchasing a PS4 because I don't play any other games. The PS3 will be fine for media purposes if I don't decide to purchase GT7.

EDIT: Oh, I would also need a new steering wheel as my DFGT will not be compatible with the PS4. It will probably cost me close to $900 just to be able to play GT7 which is why I say GT7 better be out of this world if I'm going to spend that much money just to play one game.

How much of the 256mb ram does PS3 use to run os? lol. And ive been watching laps of this track... It's not as good as we think it is... :D

I'm amazed to see this track make a come back, because I adore the classic tracks from GT. :) However, PD did this on a wrong day because I've just bought a new console and game (that @GranTurismo guy is going to really), plus I'm too lazy to installed GT6 back so this is pretty much a hit and miss for me.

Other than that, great job PD. 👍 Screw the Course Maker, add more of your wonderful classic tracks for GT7 thanks.

You know what people say, better late than never :D

Well, in my case it's a matter of reinstalling the game again and download all the updates. By the time it's done, GT7 will be out already XD

But yeah. In all honesty, I think this is the best thing PD has done in the past months. I can recognize that. I feel a track, even if it's old, can be much more valuable than a car or two. (If those cars are VGT's).
