Hopefully,I don't have much experience with this track but I already know I need to adjust my lines.
Edit:Going to get some laps in soon, see if I can find a flow on this track.
Edit:Went testing tunes instead, done with that.Got rid of some understeer.

Well if the weather is random it is gonna rain sometime during the race , sounds like a nightmare of a race ahead of us .

I don't expect anything good out of this race , no win for sure and doubt ill get podium especially if it rains .

If it stays dry though anything is possible .

Just hope I can find these extra seconds I'm losing by Friday , I hate long tracks .

Will be having a practice session later tonight , ill post when room is open

In Gprillis lounge at the moment , taking notes

Anyone up for some practice ?

Yesterday with Skeng I tried a one stopper strategy and I think is possible, of course the rain will play a key factor in the pitting strategy.

A good pace should be 3.48 (with 3.47 as fastest) for dry, in a full wet situation (100%) a good time is between 4.25 / 4.30

It's very good that during the night there is less tyre wear due to lower temperatures!

ONE QUESTION SOOPA: How you're gonna set the raining settings in the room?

Gonna be hard to beat gprilli this race , his pace is almost flawless .

I'm way off the pace , will have to put in a ton of practice if I even want to consider being on the podium .

Yes Soopa I have the same question , how will you decide the weather and surface water to start the race on.

It will start dry and sunny but not fixed, last season it started raining on the final lap, I don't expect we'll be so lucky again ;)

I have to say I'm hoping for some rain, will make it more interesting :)

Yeh it will make it interesting . I just hope it starts to rain and I make it to the pits right in time and some of you get stuck out there for a lap .

so you're going to put in Weather at Race Start and Surface Water at Race Start 0%

and in Weather Changeability? 10? 5?

Ahh yes, I forgot about the new controls, I will research the changeability setting and see what would fit best during a 24Hr cycle.

This rain is gonna be a real pain, I'm already slow in the dry .

This and nurburg 24 will be my weakest races .

Well we all have to have some weak races, except maybe Garage and a few others, GVS and Trial Mountain will probably be my worst...

I'm gonna try running a room later and see what kind of results we get over an hour and a half with time change=24, wet=0%, weather=0% and changeability=10. will do that a few times resetting the track every hour and a half and let you know what kind of results I get.

Can't seem to find anywhere that anyone has done extensive testing to know what effect these settings have!?

Practice lounge open

Lounge closed til later .

Let me be the first to say Gprilli for pole

Lounge is open again

Immortal is in the lounge with me and Montal stopped by for a bit and ran a few laps

Garagefather's Recap:

What a week for the MRC. We had a new addition to the league that basically destroyed us. We had a sordid tale of cheating with claims of car performance and tire wear as justification, and we have had a serious debate of the merits of the SC430.

We also learned we will be honored again my MontalvoMC presence at Sarthe. Glad to have you back.

I was surprisingly able to qualify quite well and felt pretty good about the race. I got off in third and then took second and then it all went downhill....

After a disastrous mistake on the first corner on lap 3, my race was pretty much wiped out. I was in complete control the whole time in the corner and was completely blown away when I wrecked like I did. I just watched the replay and can see the rear of my car barely clip the wall sending me into a spin. It was absolutely devastating to my podium chances. After getting stuck in the last corner on the same lap, due to a wreck between Gprilli and Neal, I was in pretty bad shape. I was pretty lucky to finish in 6th.

After some heated debate on the finer points of wall riding, I learned my position would move up to 5th. Not bad for a disaster of a race. I wanted to quit after the lap 3 mess but stuck it out and finished in the points, so to speak.

I find the discussion about the SC430 intriguing. I have to say that I can lay down a decent lap with my '06 but were it hurts me the most is that for a car off the pace, IMO, it sure does eat tires. The GT-R had more power and better tire wear and that is why I did better in it. I could run 1 stoppers at places like Tokyo to negate the speed of the NSX and still run fast enough to keep up until they pit in. The SC430 is slow and eats tires. When I make mistakes, I can never recover with the car. Having run the '08 a small amount, I would say it is better but still suffers from being underpowered and tire abusive. The fact that Montalvo does so well in it says more about driver skill than it does for the car. The biggest compliment I have about the car is it is very stable with my tune on it. I used a similar tune on the '08 and it performed similarly. The car can be tamed easily but doesn't reward you much for the effort.

So, we are off to Sarthe. The blazingly fast speed of the Lexus will be hard to.....Oh wait, I just had an LSD flashback. I meant to say the blazingly fast speeds of the NSX will be hard to beat. If ImmortalPilot honors us again with his presence, I think he might be tough to stop. I do know GP would be fast in a Go Kart, and I am interested to see how MC does. My strategy will be to follow the fastest guy I can keep up with and hope for the best. First and formost will be to avoid stupid mistakes. I can't afford them in the Banzai Bandai!:)

so you're going to put in Weather at Race Start and Surface Water at Race Start 0%

and in Weather Changeability? 10? 5?

I've done a bit of testing and I'm going to set the Weather Changeability to 5, at 10 I found it started raining, got pretty hard but then stopped all within 5 minutes. I'd rather if it rained it was a more gradual build-up and kept raining a bit longer...

Thanks Garagefather, good show for not quitting when things were going so badly for you, the SC430 is certainly an interesting debate. A car which under performs at the same HP yet still eats the tyres!! :ouch: It has been said before and I would echo that each car may suit particular driving styles and for some people the Lexus works but for the majority it clearly doesn't. :indiff: The Denso has won a league here on GTP as reported by kk20 but who knows it may have been Vettel driving it :sly:

I think the TAKATA will win this week, I was close to winning here last season until I was rudely rear ended on the final lap, so I'm sure someone of IMMORTAL's talent won't be seen all race, at least until he starts lapping us!! :)

Oh and I managed a low 3:49 while I was testing, but it had started to rain, thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it :P

EDIT: Just did a 3:48.058 on a dry track, amazing how much difference 10% surface water makes! I've clocked up 3 hours practise now, by the time I get to race day I would've done more practise than all previous weeks combined, so hopefully I should do better!!

I am still way off the pace , learning the track though , I can follow immortal closely for a lap so my lap times should be between a 45 - 47.

When I try a qualifying lap tho I'm in the 50's

Hate this track

my best was 3,43,52

and I thought my 3:46.8xx was good

I know gprilli , I thought you owned this track.

The nsx is just a monster here , I am losing all my time in sectors 2 and 3 .

I can be down a tenth in sector 1 but then in sector 2 I'm down a second and then sector 3 down another second. I'm down almost 2 and a half seconds just like that.

I don't know what to do , I guess my braking is just off really off.

When I ran a few sprint races with Immortal , I can keep up with him really well .

I think this will be the first race I will want to run with traffic rather than clean air.

Qualifying will be horrible for me unless I get into the 3 47's by friday

Well looks like I won't keep the points lead for very long but I will be back in full force at Trial Mountain , ill be putting some serious effort into making that race my second win of the season

Yes until now the final points are based on all results, after this weeks race your lowest 2 results will be excluded, so there will be lots of change in the table and will more accurately reflect peoples true position ;)

The GT-R will definitely have the upper hand next week

I wasn't aware of that .

So if I understand this correctly the championship is 10 rounds but you only use our top 8 finishes .

This doesn't make me worry too much about Sarthe and Nurburg 24 now

That's right, but the lowest 2 don't get excluded until we get to round 5 for obvious reasons, this allows people who go on holiday or miss a race for whatever reason to still compete for the championship ;) IMMORTAL has missed 3 already but I suspect he'll still be on the podium if not champion!!

No it will always be your top 8, but I don't start excluding your lowest 2 until we get to round 5, since there aren't really enough rounds to warrant it until then

lounge open now

Since changing the weather to 5 I've noticed something very interesting.

Since changing the weather to 5 I've noticed something very interesting.

I've only had limited time to test the new settings so far, I'm keen to hear what you've found out, what did you notice...?

4 out of the 5 times I tried , rain started falling on the first lap , rained to about 30-40 percent water surface level. Rain lasted about 5-7 laps overall. Only ran about 10 laps each try.

Did you change tracks in between? Number of laps set to 16?

When I tested changeability at 10 I got rain after about 5 minutes which started raining heavy for about a lap and then stopped, I can't remember what surface level it got to but I know I did a low 3:49 a few laps after that and I noticed it was about 5% when I completed that lap, changed it to 5 and the rain arrived at about 7-10 minutes and lasted about 5 laps.

I then changed track and got no rain within 35-40 mins, so I reset again and it started raining at about 30 mins, which would've been around lap 1/2 of the race :)

So I gathered from that the loading of the track predetermines the chance of rain, the changeability will affect how soon that weather occurs and for how long, all based on a scale of the original predetermined pattern.
