Midnight Racing Club - GT500 Season 2: Rd.10 Nürburgring 24H 23rd Dec

SkengD
5th wasn't a bad result considering your lap 1 wipeout Garage and you got fastest lap which gives you the same points as 4th place
I'm just upset I made so many mistakes , without them I'd be on the podium for sure

See you in Nurburg Phil

In hindsight the 33 laps at suzuka may be the way to do it in the future seasons Soopa , it forces you to focus on tire management and strategy a bit more . Since I spun out so early and took life out of my tyres I pitted lap 8 I think and then lap 22 , ideally you would want to run 11 lap stints I think

I tried to run 11 laps but I couldnt make it, didnt realise that there was certain corners we were allowed t overtake on, if there is a gap, I'm goin for it, in the words of senna, lol.

If you watch the replay you can see I only try to overtake on the long straights , I remember one part of the race after my numerous spins I caught up with garagefather and passed him going into 130r but I ran wide off track , gave him back the position and then passed him on the start finish straight , we made contact going into the first corner there but I had the right away (inside lane and I was ahead at the time)

Just think of the rules as trying to drive as close to formula 1 as possible especially the rule about yielding to cars that are lapping you , if your being lapped pull over just get off the racing line , I know it sucks but its part of racing .

But I did that. Anyway I think that he argument is over, I'm gna start running practice laps today, an tonight, anyone can join if they want.

Yeh no worries mate , ill be available to play around 9 pm uk time , ill send u a msg on psn and we can run a few practice laps

There are corners in Suzuka where passing is impossible and will cause an accident unless you are MUCH faster.
I'd like to see one guy outbrake the other and both get through side by side on that high speed left for example.
In smaller cars maybe but in these wide GT500 machines, quite unlikely.
Go check out turn 8 at the clipsal 500 adelaide, that's what I mean by unlikely.

Well I suppose we live and learn. Bring on the ring!!! 9pm it is, c u then.

I would love to join you guys but Im GMT+8 which means that is 4am.:(
Anyway good luck Neal,do keep in mind it's a long race so plan your moves and you'll succeed.
I usually stick to my opponents to see their pace for awhile and if there is an area where I feel I can jump I will.
But thats just my style, whatever works I guess.:P

Ill be available earlier tomorrow phil , was a shame you couldn't make it but we still have 9 races to go

My setup seems to be good on tyres and I was a bit underpowered in suzuka so I'm really looking forward to the next race even though I hate nurburgring , good thing I prefer gp/f to the long 24 hour one .

Loving this Calsonic GTR , just hope we can get someone to stop Montal the guy is damn quick and consistent he gave us a Jenson Button kinda drive in Suzuka

That is why he has the inaugral FIA GT3 title.;)
To be honest I am really scared of my internet connection.:(

I had a pretty good race. I kept my pace and I did know that 2 stopper was needed because of my tyres. I have to improve this aspect because in season 1 with the Lexus, 1 pit strategy was often a winning choice. Infact watching the replay Montalvo had a very good tyre wear at the end, maybe his driving style but also maybe the car.

I went 5/6 times out of track, this did cost me about 20 seconds but I couldn't never get gprili, I did know he was definitely faster than me.

The feeling with the car is getting better but is still not the same as the Lexus.

Talking about lapped drivers I had no problem with Nealcropper or Hamilton, they always left me enough room to pass.

Well I had the worst ever performance in the MRC this week, really just can't keep this car in a straight line :(

Congrats to Montalvo on his first win and a first win for a Lexus in the league too, I'm sure there will be many more to come.

I have kicked Lord Voldemort, not only did he quit mid race he was then typing messages about another driver, which was not only disrespectful but distracting for those racing. I've issued a 2pt penalty for Neal's passing incident on Garagefather lap 1 turn 8, also 1pt for not adhering to blue flag and in my opinion costing Tyrell 4th place to Skengd on lap 28, before Neal held him up he had several seconds advantage and was lapping almost the same times as Skengd, by the time he got passed Neal Skengd had his slipstream and went by. A subsequent unrelated mistake then cost him another position to Garagefather...

I would also like to ask that nobody joins my lounge until 23:30 on race night, if you click on my lounge and I'm not there don't join, I usually get there about 20 past and get everything set up. I don't know exactly how the lounge connection works but it took forever for me to load and once on the track my car felt wrong, I'm guessing the lounge has some sort of basis on the host connection, since someone else opened my lounge it was based on theirs!?

Same here. But let's not look on what's over and done anymore, shall we?
Looking forward to the next race. Running a 2 stopper now. Hopefully I'll catch podium or at least 5th. :)

Soopa, what is your lounge setting.

Is the race quality very hight or just high quality?

I want to know because I want to practice in the same environment at the race room.

Also could I practice in you lounge if it's not race day?

About the new weak slipstream I have to say that IMHO it worked very well. During the first stint I made a mistake and Soopa was almost catching me, but on the straight, with this realistic slipstream, he couldn't overtake me like he could easily do with the old one. Then in the "S" I was faster and I put the gap between us again. Now having a car fast in the mixed part of the track and slightly slower on the straight make sense and that's very satisfying.

I admit the slipstream is better, but the fact I couldn't overtake down the straight is not quite true, it was a conscious decision not to and I did the same with Skengd also. If you watch the replay you'll see I'm not fully on the throttle down the straight and just sitting behind you ;)

I decided not to because I wanted to follow you and benefit from your slipstream to help reduce tyre wear, which I am notoriously bad for, by following you I can take it easy through the corners and use the slipstream to catch up on the straight, rather than going passed on the straight then a battle ensues slowing both cars down overall whilst increasing tyre wear, only on a track with very long straights like Fuji does overtaking down the straight benefit both drivers as I did with Garagefather last season. Unfortunately both with you and Skengd I made so many minor (and major) mistakes that I lost you all together and so it didn't last as long as I'd wanted

I was a bit very annoyed at the blue flag incident and it did indeed cost me two places and a great finale.

Having said that though, Neal has been punished and I don't want to hold any grudges so as far as I'm concerned, that is in the past now. Just please move over next time and I'll look forward to the nurburgring.

What are the ideal lap times on nurburgring gp/f ?
I never ran that race last season and its not one of my better tracks

last season best was around 1:54 :)

You know what amazed me that hardly anyone ran 1 53 times in the race but in qualifying it was a dogfight for the best time

Race pace and qualifying pace are really very different

Completely didn't realize that, I thought you were at full throttle but, because of the weak splipstream, you couldn't catch me on the straight. Being as you said I was lucky you did some mistake, a fight with you would have been very hard. :nervous:

You will notice that I said nothing about the turn 1 contact because you were absolutely correct in your analysis.:)👍 I didn't give enough room for you and I was not in a position to challenge you for the spot. I penalized myself by trying and you were nearly unaffected. That is the way it is supposed to be. I never take chances that will take someone out. I took a chance there but I knew it wouldn't hurt Skengd if I couldn't pull it off.👍

I am very fair and I will never complain about contact that was due to incidental contact or due to my own stupidity. However, I am a competitor who never wants to lose so if you do me wrong, I will let you know about it. Just ask Allascato. We had a run in a few times in a race and I let him have it verbally. He will attest I have done nothing but praise him since. I won't take any BS and I won't hesitate to let people know about it but I don't hold a grudge. I get it out and move on.

My times for the first few laps on Nurb are : 54.9 , 54.7 , 54.2
In the next stint I went race pace and did : 55.1 , 55.2 , 55.1
However someone we ran with is extremely close to a 53...
