I'd say we are definitely getting the VGT's tomorrow in an update. The end date for the event in the pic is 15th Jan and we always have the VGT events available for a month so tomorrow they must start. 👍

First up is a Seasonal A-Spec event with a Super GT themed weather-change survival race. With ever changing weather conditions, the AI’s pit strategy will also change accordingly. AI’s that take their chances on their tire selection might be in for a surprise?
Skid recovery force is ON, but even expert drivers might find it difficult if not used to driving in wet conditions. If you win on your first try it might be because the weather gods were on your side. It’ll also be interesting to look at the strategies of each team in the replay after the race.

In the Japanese blog post which I was reading, it's not clear whether we are getting only one vgt car or more. It's sort of mistranslation I think otherwise the screenshot have to be taken down.

Also, despite PD's mishap, at least I could take a look at the Infiniti's front end. It's not as ugly as I thought it would be. 👍 And those seasonals should net us players with quite a lot of green. Call it a secondary Red Bull Championship in terms of profit.

If I'm correct, it's basically like a Knockout event where a car is in last place and everybody passes a lap, that said car in last place get's knocked out of the race. Last one to survive the race with everybody knocked out wins.
Please nobody quote me if I'm wrong, but I'm highly sure that's what it is.

Well spotted, didn't notice that detail about the Stratos overtake challenge. Man, if that's true, then this will be tricky, dealing with the Stratos's MR layout... But hey, it's a good challenge at least.

While I'm not disagreeing with you (I think we might get a video teaser of the Infiniti before we see it released), I wouldn't call it a dead give away.

So in that respect the dates actually suggest otherwise.
Also note that there is an arrow pointing left on the Infiniti event.

Well... If that's all we're going to get, this update is going to suck big time. I don't really care about the VGT's since they're not what I would classify as pretty cars AND they don't have interior views (except the VW). So far the coming update is set to be a massive disappointment for me... What a waste!

PD is missing the boat on the anniversary sales push. Maybe they just want to keep people half satisfied until GT7 comes out,then hope they can get there fan base back...

Maybe you're right, if that's what they're doing that's a bit stupid. Disappointing some people, upsetting other people on purpose until GT7 comes out might backfire on them. We (fans) are not going to be infinitely patient with PD. At some point they'll have to deliver something worth buying.
Honestly, tomorrow GT7 comes out (they have the same cars and tracks than in GT6) and PCars is also out I'm going on PCars without any hesitations.
Here's why: I like GT6 but I'm finding myself playing the same cars most of the times, there's not enough racing categories in GT6, you don't even have up to date championship cars. You only have GT3 (not every one of them) LMP's (and they're not all under the same regulations), GT500/GT300 and NASCAR that's all you have. So it's hard to make a race where each cars are pretty much on the same level. There's not enough real race tracks so you easily drive the same tracks over and over again (some original tracks are good but it doesn't worth real race tracks).
And there's PCars you have different type of Openwheel cars, DTM, Stockcars, GT3, LMP's, and others I can't think off. And you have A LOT of real race tracks (Imola, Hockenheim, and a lot more of them).
That's how my choice would be made. Now if GT7 adds each cars that PCars has, I'm probably buying GT7, unless there's not livery editor (or at least pre-made liveries for each race cars) but a livery editor on PS4 is a must for the GT serie but that's another topic.
