Picked up the PS4 version last night. Just need to transfer my saves from PS3. I wish they would do shaders for the console versions, MC can look so pretty with the better shaders and texture packs.

I know they do texture packs, but I wish they would do stuff like the GL shader mod etc. the game looks soo great with a different shader.

I have no experience with that so I had to Google it. It does make it look a lot nicer, a bit fairy like.

Yeh there are a few shader mods for the PC/Mac versions and they can make a huge difference to the way it looks and unless you have a decent rig the hit to FPS is big too :|

I don't think we'll see anything like shaders on PS4/XB1

No, I need bukkit to be able to give sponsors their perks. Plus, due to the EULA I need to change my sponsorship settings and perks or I may get shut down/sued by Mojang!!

@homeforsummer during your travels on the world. Head to -378 / 62 / 369. The tower is still under construction. But i've left food and tools in the base of it. The land around it is a swamp biome. No sheep, just pigs.

So, there's talk that Mojang could possibly be bought by Microsoft for $2 billion. I doubt it would ever happen, but this is making me nervous since no Mojang employees have commented on this subject. I hope Mojang stays on it's own without any other company owning it.

A few sheep have actually spawned pretty nearby recently, so I've got myself a couple of beds finally. Went searching for some sugar cane as there didn't appear to be any near spawn. Intend to make some maps. The /home command is pretty useful when you've disappeared into the wilderness for a couple of game days.

Anyone on the server been to the nether yet? More specifically, has anyone got any nether quartz going spare? I need to make a redstone comparator and haven't yet found any obsidian to get myself to the nether.

I read something about Notch leaving Mojang if it does end up being bought by Microsoft. Not sure if that was something microsoft considered might happen, or they just want complete control... either way, Minecraft just wouldn't feel right. Kind of like playing Halo on the PlayStation.

@DQuaN since the other worlds are gone. Means my farms are gone too. I don't mind starting over but i wouldn't mind a hand getting things started. I could use a carrot, a potato, and a melon. At some point i might ask for spawn eggs of animals. But i want to try my luck first at hunting for them.

They aren't gone, they're safely in storage. Once bukkit/spigot gets updated they will all be back.

I'm perhaps quite a late bloomer to the Minecraft 1.8 news. I've been away from Minecraft for at least a month. I am not as educated on some of the changes and additions except that I've spotted some rabbits. As someone who loves cats and rabbits, I can appreciate the inclusion of rabbits. Another Minecraft world was created by me- another Creative world. I may update my already big primary Creative World to play around with the new features. I still haven't discovered any Desert or Red Mesa land in my older Creative world. What I may do is try to look at MCEdit or something and convert one biome into Desert land. It may take away from the fun of exploring your world until you find something you like, but anything to make your world more interesting than it already is, you'll take it.


Oh, and so I don't forget... I read that potential news of Microsoft and Mojang. Mojang is a Triple-A developer in the independent ranks. You can kiss them goodbye as an indie developer if they get picked up by Microsoft.

Haven't been killing them, I've got shears. Next time I'm online I'll try and get you coordinates for where I saw them.

If you've got quartz, that's perfect. I've got plenty of stuff to trade if you need anything in particular - the only thing I can't really do at this time is diamonds as I haven't got enough for myself!

I've got carrots and potatoes, incidentally.

Saw something the worried me this morning on the BBC news site. Microsoft are in talk with mojang on buying Minecraft. I think if it happens PS4 version will still get updates but I would imagine the Xbox would get a massive exclusivity deal on future updates.
What would they do with the PC version? try turn it into an even bigger money cow than it is now?

Busy night on the server..

I moved out of the GTcave and have built a small house on a swamp island not too far from the cave. I took the one sheep I have. He's happy, grass just wouldn't grow in the cave, so now he has plenty to munch on.

Went back to the Nether, had a full inventory when i came back. Of course i ended up in the other portal someone has built so im now far from home. Didn't have much time to keep my loot, thanks to the three zombies and a creeper that chased me into the hills near spawn point. Which leads me to this...

@'85fierogt sorry about the catwalk that leads to your hanging house. When i smelt some stone blocks I'll rush back and fix the mountain side near your fence wall, and finish removing the catwalk. I died when i fell trying to remove it. Curiosity has killed my cat.

@homeforsummer pm your coordinates and i'll bury a chest with your quartz. Leave the veggies in the chest an bury it back up. Ill collect next time im on.

What I found was that Notch went to Microsoft first to talk a deal or buyout, not microsoft to notch for $2B, which will be payed by some of their currency, While that said he would leave after the deal. Here is another linky

Hmm seems with each major update come some unncessary changes. In one of the 1.8 snapshots, Stone Golems actively attacked creepers (which they had been leaving alone since a much earlier release) but this rightly caused complaints that creepers were wreaking havoc where the golems were protecting villages and builds, as they would more often than not explode.

Whilst this has thankfully been removed again, whereas the golems previously actively sought out and attacked other mobs who were otherwise passive towards them, the tables have now been turned, and the mobs strike the first blow (or several in the case of skelly arrows). This meant that in just one night, two of my four stone golem sentries perished, having survived for weeks up til then.

Will check the forums and whatnot to see if anyone else has observed this, but I sure hope it gets fixed, as it's made the golems a relatively weak and inefficient ally

Spigot has set up a patching process that gets around the DMCA. They have also released some updates but I can't determine if they are 1.8.

I'm keeping the farms going in the GTcave. And about to begin moving the cows down a stairwell to a much larger area. Wish me luck.

Came back to my island and found my one sheep on top of a tree that over hangs the fence. The one animal I'm trying to keep alive is plotting his freedom from the easy life i'm providing.

Any nether portal experts on here? Does it matter where I place my portal, will it effect where I end up in the nether? Also what if there are multiple portals on a single world? Does it matter who built them?
