The mission is really not that hard, once i watched the vid on davidanderson.org.uk,I just drove like I usually do,There was only one part where I was losing time,I wasnt going fast enough, once I fixed that,I beat the lead car easy.I beat the lead car by 2 seconds. My advice to everyone is to just keep trying, that video seriously helped me.:) 👍

Yes keep practising, since I did my supercar comparision which involves driving around the ring a countless number of times in supercars, I've become far better at mission 34

I drive this track in every car I own and this mission is getting on my nerves. Because I did a 7.02 time on the ring in the McLaren in practive mode with my car, stock form no mods at all except I changed the oil and bought new rims for the car. Thats my way of prcticing. Well, once I made a time of 7.02 on the 'Ring with the exact same car, I went straight to the mission and tryed it. But I was little over 5secs behind the lead car and did get second but the lead car was just crossing the line when I rounded the corner. I'm not proud of myself in this mission because I did EVERY other mission on my first try, no lie. Peoples vids and tips don't help me much because I'm a hands-on learner. So, I'll just keep trying it until I fianlly get it.

Tonight was the night :)

I had a go at it a few months ago but was not on the pace. After going through some of the endurance race on that course, beating the toughest circuits, and getting the 80 golds, I took a crack at it again this week. The first couple days I ran through it about 10 times a day. My times were much faster than before and it was becoming more of a timing issue with when I passed the cars than a skill issue.

Today I sat down and ran through it another 15 times before I finally hit that magic lap where it all came together. Man what a ride! That final uphill climb to beat the last car is just plain crazy. I had to make the pass just after the final turn and beat him to the finish! Absolutely insane! Totally worth the feeling you get when you finally complete the mission.

Cheers to all who had such good advice on this forum. I pushed the car to the max and drove it like it was meant to be. Thanks.

Great map, Gregc!👍

There is also a video guide showing the names of each corner in this thead.

I myself still haven't done this mission, I'll give it a shot one day. Sounds...fun...frustrati-:grumpy:...Maybe not.

EDIT: So, the target practice time fo PAL is 7'04''? Stock settings but TCS & ASM are higher than default (10,10,5) on the car? Just trying to make a summary here.

There are probaly a million of these breakdowns already but I don't want to look through 26 pages.

This is where you need to overtake to win.

5th place merc - Just before the Karosul.
4th place merc - A few turns before the sand banked left.
3rd place merc - Beggining of the long strech
2nd place merc - Just after the long strech *
1st place merc - Before the finish

* This mercesdes is very hard to overtake and can result in spinning around if not done correctly

After about a week (and reading this whole thread), I finally beat this. Thanks for all the help! I eventually gave in and cut the grass in a couple of spots To contribute, here were my splits from memory(NTSC, I'll update with exact time if requested):
T1 1'49.3 (cut some grass here)
T2 1'39.8
T3 1'30.5 (cur some more grass here)
T4 1'17.5 (the closest split I had before this was 1'18.6)
T5 ~1'04.7
T6 53.7 (I caught some grass taking a turn too fast)
T7 (I don't remember this one.)
T8 ~30.5
T9 ~23
T1 14.6
T11 6.3
END -0.038 (I cut some grass here because it was the only way to pass the AI without spinning out.)

My approach for beating this was to do the 4 hour ring endurance with the stock car. After that, I concentrated on getting the first split down in record speed, then the second, etc. Overall, I made up most of my time at the beginning. For some turns, it's a good idea to get the ideal speed and exactly where you should start breaking in your head. Getting gold in A16 helped a lot, too. Time to finish the other 64% of the game.

I tried this for the first time today after having finished all the other missions last week. The problem for me is that I don't know the track at all. I B-Spec'd most of the races on Nurburgring because it's so long I can't be bothered to memorise it. So I'm having to do that now.

First attempt was just to familarise myself with the car and course. I finished 59sec back after taking about 12 penalties and spending more time off the road then on it. Second attempt was more comfortable and I took it down to 25 seconds. Still got a lot of work to do, I'll keep you all posted.👍

Laziness pays back, don't worry you'll crack it soon :)

how come u find this so hard??

i did mission 34 on my 4th attempt- just learn the track corner by corner and its easier. and make sure you dont come off at all.

my prob is all the other missions. i.e avaltine mission thats harder 4 me.
i had to cut corners!!!:)

Learning the Nurburgring corner by corner isn't a quick process. That's what I'm trying to do right now but it'll take time. My new problem is that the track is so narrow, not only is overtaking difficult, but if you have just one wheel on the grass and you try to brake (or sometimes just turn or accelerate), you're more than likely to spin out. That costs way too many seconds to win, so I need to work on that too.

I bought a Mercesdes SLR and driven it around the Nurburgring 10 times a day and then had 5 attempts at the mission, did it finally :)

you must be a lucky one then because I've done the same thing and I'm still having issues with the mission :ouch: :grumpy:

I can get a time of about 7minutes 04 seconds in practice mode with the exact same car as the mission and yet I'm still getting just over 5 seconds behind the lead car. It's driving me bonkers :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: 🤬 🤬 🤬

This is so weird if what ya'll say is true that the lead car pulls a 9:12-13 on the ring an in practice mode you make 7:02 (If from a standing start (Emergency brake and gas)) then you should be able to beat the 300sl w\ 3 secs to sparecause you only need a 7:05 to tie w\ the car. I tried this one several times but I am not comfortable w\ braking as early as you need to w\ this car

i followed jdw's split guides and finally beat it this morning! took me two days to finally get it right though. thanks for the guide!

As I said before: Invest in your own SLR for $610000, race the 4-24hour Nurburgring and you should be fine.

Come the twentieth hour you should be able to do it with your eyes closed.👍

WTF can you save it during the game? or did you sit there the whole 24hrs?
just off to try this one for the first time... plus i hate the ring too long

No, you cannot save mid-race. However, most people who A-Spec the 24h races do not do the whole thing at once, and usually break it into several-hour stints over several days, just keeping the game paused between sessions

And once you do get used to the track and it's lines and you can run fast times each try, it becomes quite fun to do.
Would'nt be suprised if once you finished it that you went back for more runs.:)

gee i would hate to leave my ps running that long can imagine 10-20hr in and a power cut, id grab a hammer and yell 4 then ring for a new window...

Try'd and was 0'45.### secs on the long straight guess i was no chance plus the other cars had finish'd.

Unless power cuts are common, I wouldn't considere them an even remote problem. I left my PS2 on for two weeks straight when I began GT3 with no memory card, didn't have a single problem the entire ~330 hours.
