grah. 0.9 seconds out. how the holy hell are you supposed to overtake second place at 200mph through tiergarten without losing control?! craziness. i got past him but slammed straight into a wall and took a 5 second penalty. grrr.

I couldn't tell you you my splits - but when I finally did get this one knotched on my controller - my win margin was only .035 secs faster -- my jaw hit the ground and my body twitched uncontrollably!! :P

Have to say, this IS the hardest test/rest of the entire game -- I only hope GT5 can measure up 👍

After owning this game since Feb. 2005, i finally managed to pass this stinker of a Mission.

I managed to do all of the other Missions with the Driving Force Pro, but this one seemed impossible, so i pussed out and used the Dual Shock 2. :nervous:

But now that i have passed it, I feel relieved, happy, challenged, and honored. (My hands are still sweating)

This is the hardest test in the Gran Turismo series, makes those gold medals seem easy.

I swooped passed that 'lil gullwing Benz, and finished 0.014 seconds ahead of him. :)

I suspect its in here already, but 25 pages is a lot to get through, so:

Can anyone provide settings that can be used for the SLR (e.g tyres, aids - I imagine the rest is default in the mission?) so that I can buy it from the dealer (in black of course!) and practise, practise, practise??

Mucho thanks!

haha, see the $95 million at the top? He does a LOT of Fuji 1000 races at night. :) That and whenever I leave for a day, he does 24 hours at the Nurburgring. My F1 car literally has over 100,000 miles.

I've pretty much scanned these posts and they all seem to agree that the NTSC countdown is 123, 122, ... (and I have actually seen that on the videos).

However I'm getting a 126, 125, ... countdown. Anybody else getting this? Are there differences in NTSC versions too? Did I miss something obvious?

How odd...:confused:hmmmm...not sure why you are starting off at 126

Anyway...I've noticed something weird as well with the NTSC and M34...See. I've started another GT game save on another memory card and I'm just getting the licences and missions. Well, once I've completed the license tests and getting the prize cars for completing them anyway, I went straight to M34...Well, on my second game save I noticed M34 was easier to do than my other game save on a different memory card. For some reason, the SLR McLaren seems slower and less powerful and yet has more grip than my older game save on my first memory card. Has anyone elses noticed this strange occurence or am I lucky??

This is what I did:

1) Got all 5 licenses without trying
2) Went STRAIGHT to M34

this made M34 easier because I was 8secs behind the lead car on the first try on my other game save.

EDIT = I found out why I was faster...Iwas running in MPH not KMH

My question now is what part of the track is the Karussel???? I'm not sure what people are talking about with this part of the track...I'm thinking it's the first "noisy" turn you come across after that long straight which is after the right hand turn with the sand on the left of it...Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm wondering what the "Karussel" is...Thanks in advance...I know it's a silly question but I'm not sure where it is I need to make up time on this track

Thanks :)

Best I've done is 4 seconds with 1 penalty (on the second to last turn...dang that SLR with its crappy brakes!)

the dev team are very biased and very shifty , theyr'e just trying to give you the impression that European cars are not all theyr'e cracked up to be ... which is a lie.

notice how all the best cars ingame are mostly japanese ? hmmmm what a coincidence...

The countdown is 126...125...124, the first car launches at 123.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!

I did all the 33 others missions, without any major difficulties..

But here.. Even if I do a completely clean lap.. The best result I can achieve is 6th, 23 seconds behind...

Help me!!

Start by reading the thread you just posted to. All the advice has already been given, including splits, videos, driving tips, practice tips. Everybody's first runs were way off the pace, because the track is hard and the car (its tire selection, actually) is just so BAD in this mission!

I've already red the first ten pages.. Main advices, learn the track.. Slow in, fast out, bla bla bla.

Downloaded the vid on Daan's website..

Don't understand how the guy in the vid can be so fast.. I try to brake at the same places, slowing to the same speed, just doesn't work. Different driving style, I suppose..

I just beat it... man. My advice is to know the beginning section very well because if you can pass the first SL before the Karussel it makes it so much easier, both in reality and in your mind.

The middle section (I call it that, the part after the third checkpoint and before Bergwerk) was the hardest for me but after practicing a lot and actually learning the fastest way to take it rather than just what I already knew, I was able to make up the most time there.

i have just beat this mission and then done it again just for fun, hardest part is passing the slower cars which you need a bit of luck. My advice get gold in the s16 and the learn to drive the car.........easy.

a lot of people on here seem to know names for certain portions of the track like the karussel and the bergwerk and i was wondering how they know this? i would like to know what part of the track that the names apply to. is it that this track is in germany and people that live there would know?

I've asked the same question...If you watch a replay of yourself driving the track, you'll notice Green road signs on the right hand side of the track in certain locations. Those signs mention the parts of the track people are talking about.

Take pics if you need some help with each section.

Hope this helps ;)

thanks!!! after a month of practice i finnaly passed this mission with a time of 9'12.862. i got so excited about where i passed the car in 4th position that i forgot where i was and ran off the track. has that ever happened to anybody? so anyway i didn't hit anything and it was a pretty clean run. no wall-riding or lawn-mowing except for the part where i forgot where i was!!!

:)

If it's any use to anyone I made a labelled map of the Nordschliefe from a Google Earth image - it's quite big, but might be handy for those who aren't familiar with the corner names.

I got the corner names from http://www.nurburgring.org.uk - great enthusiast site for the 'ring, and some good information on driving it too :)
