Ever since franz’s Nissan Micra shot, crisp reflections have never been so appealing!

Great composition, though I’m not sure about the lighting on the rims; on my monitor they appear to be lacking any significant midtones. Anyway, props on the major clean–up, the number plate looks awesome. :)👍

I’d only reiterate alexwrc’s comments in relation to the pseudo–focal blur. It’s hard to judge, but I would’ve added a subtle masked blur to the background where the exhaust is. I did some experimenting with Photoshop’s Lens Blur, and the results can be quite convincing.

What I mean is the rays with come from the rear light, the red area around it. If you still don't understand it, take a look at my H2H BBS entry (NISMO 400R) and then you will understand.

I should imagine the red area would have been difficult for me to clean up like that, so i left it as it was ingame.

Thanks for the feedback, the lens blur i added was just a last minute thing. I had finished the car and then realised the background looked crap!
I think my next work will have more detail put into making the apeture and focusing look realistic 👍

Nice TVR shot! Great reflections and pixel cleanup. Looks stunning, and I love the nice large size of the picture. I think the glow from the taillight looks fine, I wouldn't worry about it. The only things I see are a couple polygon edges on the front fender edge, and the outside of the front rim, you can see the "corners" due to the polygons. Other than those very minor oversights, the car is perfect!

Amazing picture Mog, you have some serious skills. The clean up is outstanding, doesn't even look like it came from GT4. I also really like your Deep Forest night shot, that was so good. It looks real. I love your Avatar pic too, do you have a full size version? Also, how do you do the lens blur that ALPHA was talking about? The blur in his shot looks really nice, just wondered if you knew how he did that. Awesome work, keep it up. 👍

My avatar shot is a few pages back, it was the 'Vintage' contest entry.
In ALPHA's shot he seems to have just used a similar blur technique to me but to a lesser extent. IMO it doesn't really give the shot that low apeture look because the focal length would have been almost equal between the car and the trees but that's just me.

How do you do it though Mog? Do you just make a selection and feather it to get the gradual blur effect?

I found the Charger shot, looks great. Really like the lighting and angle. Saw a lot more of you other shots too while I was looking. You are amazing, love the RX7, great colour and blur. They are all fantastic. Look forward to seeing your next masterpiece. :D 👍

Once again a massive thankyou to everyone who has replied to this topic 👍

This update i went for something completely different. I think the images speak for themselves, but i really enjoyed this style of photography in GT4!

The Abstract Collection
Click each of the smaller images to enlarge them

’Velocity’

’Maelstrom’

’Pyromaniac’

‘Aurora’

So, what do you think of this approach? I understand how different it is and some people won’t like it but it gave me a nice challenge and i enjoyed it a lot.

I absolutely love it! Out of the four Maelstrom is my favorite, but they are all great. I love this kind of work and it takes a really great artist to pull them off so well.

Great work Moglet.

Did you see Atlop's shot from a comp a few weeks ago, just a crazy amount of colours blurred into one pretty composition? I loved it, even if you couldn't make out any distinct "subject". I really like these too Mog, because it really does take someone good to pull these off without them seeming like an accident. I haven't a clue what that last one even is, and that's fine by me! I really like the first, because the Nissan ad in the background sets it off for those willing to think about what they're looking at. The second's the Red Bull TT hitting... lightspeed?

Seriously, these are all very cool, and I love seeing different stuff in the galleries as opposed to the same things over and over. So this gets a huge 👍 from me!

I love this too MOGLET verry original. If im right, this is the first time i see some abstract images from GT4. keep it up buddy.

Love the update Mog, very different. Which is always good to see. Very artistic too, you stare at them and start to see a whole host of things. I love those kind of pictures, where everyone takes something different from the image. Great work. Two thumps up! 👍 👍

Waw, you simply left me standing here Moglet, got nothing to say, just WOW I guess, they impress me in a way, I haven't got words for it 👍

"Velocity" is beautiful but "Pyromaniac" simply took my breath away, stunning 👍

Keep it up mate 👍

I think it got style

Thanks MrDK!

Great work Moglet.

I'm glad you liked them and thankyou for your compliments, C_F. Maelstrom was my least favourite of them all!

Awesome... I love abstract... leaves room for the mind to imagine what's there... The maelstrom pic looks real, and amazing! 👍

Yet another thumbs up for Maelstrom, thanks for your words. I'm glad people are liking the one i liked the least.

I did see atlop's shot but to be honest i think he could have done better than he did with an abstract shot. Still, it influenced me somewhat into taking these so it's a good thing 👍

As for not knowing what the last one is, it's the same car all the way through in every single shot. If people can tell what it is then that's fine (it's pretty obvious from the first shot really) but i'm not going to spoil the mystery.

Thankyou for your detailed feedback, i always enjoy reading more than a few lines about what i do :)

It's not the first time it's ever been done, atlop entered an amazing photograph for the '1/60' contest a while back that blew me away! Thanks for your feedback LG!

Thanks Drift2XS, it's nice to hear that you think people will take something different from each image, it's kind of what i aimed for!

Thanks Ultra, it means a lot coming from someone as talented as yourself. I did miss using Photoshop for cleaning up on these though...lol.

Abstract but not by chance. The balance between the logical and ilogical is very important imo. This makes them not casual, and the real pro style you have is evident even without your name in the layout.

I really enjoy your work man!

very artistic shots Moglet. i like the 350Z, and the 'Maelstrom' looks pretty good too. for some reason it reminded me of the intro for Auto Motor Und Sport TV program, they're all pretty cool.

It's always nice to see more than a line for a reply. I enjoy it, so I try to do the same

Heh, I guess that means I was wrong for one of my guesses, then ;). Regardless, the more I look at it the more I see it, and besides, the type of car isn't the point of these shots. I just keep coming back 👍

Cool shots Moglet 👍
myself prefer fine arts
but these abstract shots are beautiful
love those interesting lines and shapes

Thankyou alex, and thanks for commenting on my gallery as much as you do, i always look forwards to your reply.

I've never seen that intro but it seems cool that it reminded you of it! Thanks!

Yup, the aim wasn't really to do with the type of car. It just worked well with the shots.

Thanks franz. 👍

Anyway, onto my update!
Nissan Skyline vector
Something a little different for my gallery. :)
This took about 7 hours overall (due to changing it all the time) in Illustrator CS, i'm quite pleased with it considering it's my first ever vectored car. I had to do most of it as i thought it would look because the source images had loads of reflections all over the car and had weird lighting.

Anyway here it is:

It's also available in super mega huge versions:

Here are the steps i took in making it:

And some of the outline:

So, what do you reckon?

Mmm, interesting. You have spent some time on it. The pseudo real look is quite nice, like a 3D modeled car. It's hard set a good balance between the method and the results, because sometimes I think if it's better to spent hours in a more expressive drawing, a high definition vectored presentation or a pure and realistic 3D modeling.

The level of detail in your work is amazing! If you like, you can find some tutorials about vertor masking in the famous Harald Berlker stuff for a good reference, because I think your knowledge about the technique is really big enough. Btw is good to see how to aply that knowledge in the most efficient and realistic way based on external information as well.

I'd like to make a little "off topic". I have found some unbelieve works of vector artists like this:

http://www.khulsey.com/masters_yukio_miyamoto.html

Notice the photoreal look of the motorcycle, the handdrawing based engine cutaways...

Not bad for the first vector ... keep practising bro 👍
that Japanese dude is amazing
another awesome vector (in DA)

edit:
I think 3D is always better off if you need multiple-angle presentation
but if you go for technical drawing like partial see-thru or some sort
vector/drawing is a bit in advantage
but I am always amazed by those people who can do both at pro level
