We need to specify start rules ones more. I thought everyone should accelerate:
1. When start line passed.
2. When car ahead accelerates.

I keep both that rules and loosing positions because there are some guys who accelerates before start line and dont wait when car ahead accelerates.

If I missed something about rules please specify.

I think... You can accelerate on green but can only overtake after crossing the start/finish line.

As always, here's my footage. I had to go change my baby's diapers so I let the replay run on me and didn't look for other battles, sorry. However, the final battle between Lancer and me is worth watching.

Nobody talk about that so I guess I am the only one, who have different setup/gears problem in different sessions? I have had only 3 races since last update and in every race (2 MON and 1 WED) I had this problem. Last example:
Did 1 hour offline practice on Sunday, used to car/track. When entered practice lobby on Monday, car was the same and I improved my lap time for a second (in menu shows setup is Loose). When I entered race lobby, in qually car was different again and gears were very short (like it was in previous races I mentioned earlier) and I was 2 seconds slower than in practice. I always use Loose setup, so thought maybe it changed to Stable somehow. Returned to pits - no, setup is Loose. I hilighted it once more and saved, returned to track - no changes (car different, gears short). After qually I selected Stable, saved, than selected Loose again, selected it and when race started car was normal again, with normal gears. I have just watched @Tavilha video and his gears were the same, as they were for me in practice and race, so I guess there were is a true setup, but why my car in qually was different? I need to learn in practice, when need learn in qually, because car is different and in race I need to learn again, because car is different again.
Do you do any actions according to setup selection/save?

It happened to me one or two times with the Corvette in practice sessions and I sorted it by re-entering the room. I didn’t fiddle with the setups.

It’s very annoying because the first time I thought I just lost my pace as I was two seconds slower than on my private practice sessions. Then I realised the gearing was wrong.

I am afraid there is no easy solution apart from waiting on SMS to sort it.

I hadn't thought about it before but maybe the two SMS standard setups differ from track to track. It would make sense really because gearing for one track doesn't always suit another. So if that is actually the case perhaps at times it doesn't always select the correct setup for the track. Switching between the two and back again, like Napalm did, might then make it read in the correct settings. As I said, just a thought.

Of perhaps I might have mentioned to SMS that I'd like to give you fast guys slower gears. :mischievous:

Hi @Sick Cylinder, and guys,

Please move me to reserve driver status in the Monday series. I'll be going back to work in June, and mondays are my longest days there with around 12 hours on the clock... Most of the time I'll be too tired to race, so I prefer to do so occasionally whenever there's a free grid space and my head isn't all mushed out.
I'm doing this right away to start creating my normal routine during this month. I'm sad to miss out on the Lotus 49 though.

Thanks for having me here! I'll continue to race regularly on the Wednesday series.
Cheers!

Congratulations to all drivers on completion of our "Can Am" inspired Championship. I haven't got much time this week, but will get the updated championship table and full details of the next series up as soon as possible. We will be using the Lotus 49 (without wing) in a series based on the 1960's Tasman races.

@Napalm_LT About your gearing problem.

I thought I was also suffering from it yesterday in the GTE race. In qualification my BMW just didn't feel right. I couldn't achieve the same speeds in the same gear as I had previously. But what I then noticed was that the setup I had selected prior to entering the track, stable, had 101 litres of fuel added to the car. When I tried switching to loose I found that had only 50 litres in the tank - and went much faster because of that. If you don't select a setup at all I now know you get very little fuel which I presume would be even faster. I'll have to remember that. During the race the car had the standard amount of fuel and felt normal again.

So maybe it's not the gears that are changing it's the weight of the car affecting the gearing. Check you qualy fuel levels!

Thanks for posting that If, but my problem was different: setup all time was Loose but car behaviour was different and gears in gually were much shorter, egz. on the start/finish straight in gually I reached 3 gear limiter about start line, but in practice and race this straight could be done in 3, same in the back straight - needed 4 gear. It was when I returned to pits to check setup and went to track with 50 l of fuel too (car was heavier than in practice or race but I needed highier gears).
Problem isn't shorter or longer gears, problem what gears are different in every session and instead of racing you have to spend some time for practicin (during qually and race). This car is very sensitive to gears (for me): when you learn do corner in 2, but sudenly it became to short in qually, you use 3, but this car behaviour is different when use 2 and when 3, so some time is needed to get used to trothle inputs, not to slide and ect. If I were one of our fastest guys maybe it wouldn't be a problem at all :)

I never really notice any difference, Napalm, If:crazy:
I hadn't myself until yesterday John. I couldn't go fast enough to get my BMW out of 4th gear in qualy. :boggled:

We'll just have to say it's a strange game! Perhaps too complex for it's own good at times. Still fun though.

Hey you're up there amongst them. :)

@Napalm_LT Just an idea. Copy Loose setup to the track you race and save it for the track (as for custom setup are done) and give some different name. Then when you enter the race room (force default setup) check that if your "Custom name" (=Loose) setup is selected and is it working better.

Provisional Championship Standings
Lotus 40 Round 5 of 5 Watkins Glen.jpg

Congratulations to Champion @Tavilha and Vice-Champion @lancerevoo

Could anyone with a copy of the replay leave their name below - there is some driving to be checked lower down in the field - hence the results are currently provisional.

Next round is Ruapuna Park GP in the Lotus 49 (without wing) - please post your race number below (please repeat if you have already done it earlier in the thread). Any drivers who have not chosen a race number by Noon on Sunday will be assigned one by the Host.

The Classic Silverstone Round will be wet.

Note - there is a space available for a new driver in this championship.

Below this short film gives some idea of the flavour of a Tasman meeting in the 1960's - enjoy!

Two drivers are spotted trying to take a shortcut.

:D Actually it would be good if we could do that like a joker lap in rallycross.
As always nice pictures John

I'll have a look at the numbers/colours later Sick. No replay sorry, I keep forgetting to delete my older ones.

Thank you!!

Already deleted the replay, sorry.

Have fun with the Lotus guys! If possible I'll join sometime.

@John Wells , do you mind if I use one of your pictures as a thumbnail for my YouTube clip of the race?

I think I am one of them (6) and that was circa the beginning of the race.

The previous picture that John uploaded was right before the one you copied. Car number 20 spun right in front of me and despite my best efforts to avoid him, we both were forced into the rundown (alternative layout).

Is there still a yellow car available? :P

I hate to say it but I allready have plans tonight but I don't want to miss the lotus 49 championship.
Can I join with an opt out this night and then plan my following weeks so I'm available?

Important Information - Please Read !!!

Ruapuna Park GP is a very difficult track on which to pass safely, so please be patient and wait for a safe moment.

Starts are always difficult at this track so we are going to try something new and hopefully safer:

Standing Start at 1 second intervals. The pole position car starts as soon as the lights go green. The second car leaves the line 1 second later (say the words "One Thousand" while waiting to go! The third car leaves the line 1 second after the second car. The fourth car leaves 1 second after the third car and so on down to the final car on the grid.

In theory the cars will enter the first corner at racing speed about 1 second apart and hence we will avoid accidents.

The formation lap system is not suitable for longer tracks and was not working well at the Am end of the grid.

Racing Numbers - thank you for your number requests - I have entered these onto the scoring spreadsheet.

Note - welcome back @Mr Tree - I have given you number 21 as the one you requested was already taken. Tonight we hopefully welcome a new member: Yiddokirk - he only recently got a wheel and if he races tonight he will be using a hand controller as he is away from home today .

The spreadsheet contains a team column - this will be used to give you some brief historical information, as the season progresses, about a team of that colour which originally competed in the Tasman series e.g. Yellow = The Mildren Team (whose star driver was Frank Gardner), Red = The Ferrari Team (whose star driver was Chris Amon) and BRG = The Lotus Team (whose star driver was Jim Clark).

Good luck everyone !!!
