Sorry sick and sorry guys not racing on Monday and maybe not tonight , have been ill last few days in bed ,I have been on my bedroom ps4 but not my other ps4 just used for racing with t300 setup and racing rig in living room or lounge lol,

If you have someone who wants to race tonight and not enough spaces let them take my spot for tonight, tbh been back and forth to doctors and hospital last few months as suffering from exhaustion and constantly tired ,I know I am getting older but didn't expect to hit my fifties and be constantly knackered as I've always been fit with plenty of engery ,

Enough of my ramblings and if i am not online have a great

Ps there's a ps4 update .

Sorry to hear that and get well soon!

Make sure they check you thoroughly for Diabetes as this can cause extreme tiredness and is very common at 50+.

Welcome to the over fifties club! - I think we've got quite a lot of members!

That was a hairy moment being the driver just behind. Good capture, John. 👍
Phew, that was a hard race.

@Sick Cylinder I notice Algarve has been removed from the calendar, so it's just Nürburgring left then.

Will it be dry throughout the race, and will it be the Grand Prix + Nordschleife layout?

Yes Jocke. I have decided to use the 24H layout for Monday and Wednesday - it will enable people to get more spread out before they reach the narrower old track section and also has a pits in case people need repairs. It will be dry and daylight. A 50 minute race with no qualification and 5 minutes practise (just to get a quick feel for the car before the racing starts). We will use the same start procedure as on Wednesday as this worked well - I will post more details shortly.

I think I’ll use some brownie points with the missus and will join you lot on Monday.

Can’t miss a Group A race in the Nordschleife. (And 50 minutes!)

@Tavilha it would be awesome if you could make it.

What no Algarve? I've been going round and round and indeed up and down it. Never mind.

So I can practice I've been trying to tell the AI drivers about your new start procedure but they won't follow the instructions. Silly buggers.

50 minutes at the Nordschleife! That's well past my usual 20 minutes concentration span. It's also past the tyre wear limits I would think, so while the pit crew are changing my tyres I might have a quick nap.
(Does anyone know if you can change your tyre compound type on a default setup race? To race hards for instance, they'd make more sense.)
Are you running with the usual damage model @Sick Cylinder? I'd hate to crash on the 1st corner. ;)

Would you like me to have a look at the weather system? It would be nice to replicate the same conditions in approximately the same parts of the track on each lap. Might not be too easy though. Hmm, 7 or 8 minute laps, I'll take a look anyway.

That would be awesome but Mondays are nearly impossible for me :(

Yep, you can setup a custom race strategy and choose between tyre compounds and pressures.

Fog is almost mandatory at Nürburg ;)

That's useful if you want to switch to race hards. 👍

I was thinking that. As I said if I can get it to appear in roughly the same place on each lap it would be realistic.

I have no idea what pressure should be used
Nor me. That's what the pit crew get paid for. :P

I played around with the weather and you might find these videos usefull as
a visual guide for whatever settings you decide on.

The weather patterns change for 50 minutes looking out over the "Steilstrecke" section just before the uphill climb
towards the "Karussell", but have been compressed down to 75 seconds to save viewing time.

How will the grid be determined?

@John Wells
I was watching this short documentary last night about the Blood Bikers in Cumbria.
Since you also like bikes and since you live there you might find it interesting, too.

Thanks Jocke for sharing, was really good, see them on the road sometimes. The cafe in the video, burned down this year, think they will rebuilt. It takes a good hour to, get to motorway, from where I live. Been up that pass as well, in car, haven't few years now, you get bikes over taking.:D

I played around with the weather
Nice videos Jocke. I've been tinkering about too. Amazing what can be achieved. :)

I found heavy fog isn't quite so realistic as just fog. And overcast can make everything look a bit bland, which I suppose is correct.

I've nearly got one setting that's foggy in the forests but remains clear in the stadium for each lap.
If everyone can maintain a 9.6 minute lap I've already got a setting that would remain foggy in the lowest part of the track. :P

How will the grid be determined?

By the game.

If any slower drivers find themselves at the front of the grid (e.g. me) please take extra care in letting the faster drivers through. I expect the medium and fast drivers to be through the slower part of the field by the time we finish modern part of the track.

Yes - please post the settings so we can use those. I want it to remain dry because it is a tricky track and it will be hard for some of us to maintain concentration for that length of race. I decided against a 24 hour simulation for this series, but we will try one in the future on a shorter race - the night time really helps to emphasise the very hilly nature of the track.

For the start we will do the same as Wednesday - first on the grid leads off at about half race speed - everyone else follows with no overtaking until after the first corner. Remember it is a long race and it might be a long way to the pits if you suffer damage so please drive within your own limits and take extra care when passing other cars - basically drive it like you are racing your own car in real life. My neighbour forgot his limits and wrote off his Porsche 911 turbo track car and had to pay a £5,000 recovery fee - his wife has banned him from doing any more track days! Much cheaper to stick with a PlayStation like us!

with no overtaking until after the first corner.
Can I suggest a very slight alternative. There's a gantry with Eibach written on it a little after the first corner complex that would be an ideal place for the race to start. It would hopefully allow all cars to clear that somewhat congested corner.

I've nearly finished tweaking them so I'll get some settings to you very soon. I think I'm pretty settled now after six 50 minute races! I do know the track now though.

That sounds interesting.

Do share them later, Paul, since I have an idea for a video to see how the track simultaneously develops but at different parts of the surrounding areas.

That's a real shame that the game won't allow you to manually decide the grid lineup or in some way decide the grid without relying on luck of the draw.

That's great DD my little seat would struggle a bit on its last legs now, gears very notchie. Sick did have to pay for damage to the track, agree get a PlayStation, cheaper than track day.

I am going back in 2019. I got 6 laps for my birthday
Nice. It beats a few pairs of socks and a scarf. ;)

6 laps is a good amount, it's probably around what we'll do on Monday! Although that's with the main circuit tagged on.

I'm not sure you can change the grade on the group A cars @John Wells, they seem to be just slicks. However after quite a few test races in each car while adjusting the weather settings I found the tyres lasted quite well throughout the race. The 4WD wore their fronts down a bit quicker but with a bit of management they would last.

Was that at the Nordschleife?

Yes!

Previously he has written off a Subaru Imprezza and a Mitsubishi Evo in single vehicle road accidents - I hate to think how much the insurance costs on his current 911 and Cayman!

I don't really know how to manage tyres, but hopefully they will last for me. Hoping to get time for a trial race later this evening.

I can see there's a bit of a theme going on here! Did he learn to drive in Gran Turismo by any chance? I wouldn't let him take you for a drive very often Sick. Say you'll walk.

Just don't push your Audi around the corners to quickly Sick and your tyres should be ok. The old slow in fast out is the key, throttle down when the wheels have straightened so not to scrub the tyres. I was actually fastest in the Audi.

Am I right in thinking this can only be done during a pit stop, or is there a way to use it from race start?

Argh, I wish I had time in the week to put in this kind of practice. Although I will admit to some adultery in the last few weeks... the Wife got me RDR2 for my birthday and although it's not my usual type of game (i.e. no cars in it) it's had me burning the midnight oil once Joedakiss Junior has gone to bed.

By the way, the current issue of Classic Cars has an in-depth story on how the new owner of the Ferrari Modulo concept – which uses the chassis and V12 running gear of a Ferrari 512S – made it roadworthy so he can drive it around NYC. I didn't write the story (way too technical for me) but I project-managed the whole feature so I'm quite proud of it

@joedakiss I've seen you have been playing it. Enjoying it then? Besides it being somewhat expensive I'm afraid to buy RDR2 since I'll probably loose 3 months of my life playing it. That's what happened with the first one anyway.

Am I right in thinking this can only be done during a pit stop, or is there a way to use it from race start?
I think that is the case where you can only change them on a pit stop. I'm not entirely sure though. The group A cars only have one slick compound anyway and providing you're not too reckless they will last the race. The "monster" machines I'm not so sure about. I'll have to get another few races in to find out. :) Saying that I don't think my Nissan's engine will last a full 50 minute race without some repairs.

That Ferrari Modulo is quite something!

I really enjoyed the first RDR, was good just, riding around on your horse.

Did 45 min race last night, tyres where fine, but run out of fuel, can you add more?
