Monday Nassau Poster.jpg

Inspired by the season ending sports car races held in Nassau, Bahamas each December 1954-66
Mon Nassau Round 0.jpg

How to read the table - example IfAndOr does rounds 5 and 6 in a yellow Ferrari 250 TR then switches to a silver Mercedes 300 SL number 613 for the rest of the series (rounds 7 to 10). Note: @Harsk100 uses a yellow Aston Martin DBR1/300 race number 47 for rounds 9 and 10 as he does not have the DLC. If anyone is scheduled to drive a car which they haven't got please let me know asap so I can assign an alternative.

Team Captains are as follows:
Team Hill @IfAndOr Vice-Captain @richroo
Team Ireland @lancerevoo Vice-Captain @rj5992
Team Gregory @JockeP22 Vice-Captain @Napalm_LT
Reserve Team Mecom @AndreasR (SimbaLora)

The championship is scored individually (in two classes) and by Team. The Teams are named after famous drivers and we will share more information on them and the 1962 races as the season unfolds.

I strongly recommend that you all watch the following period film which presents highlights of the races held in Nassau in 1962. NB the Track list is displayed in Post 1, Page 1 and the thread title.

Will drive I drive the Merc for rounds 9, 10, no 47 Aston Harsk will use.:)

No - for a couple of rounds you will both been in yellow number 47 Aston's - I thought it was more important to keep you in your yellow team colours.

Oh dear, pressure. I feel I ought to put a qualifying time in for for this then! Come on team silvery yellow. Don't make it a upHill battle let's coast downHill all the way. Inspirational talk over.

@IfAndOr you can share the pressure with @richroo - I've tried to keep the colours the same for teams to help you identify each other - if you see a faster team mate coming up behind (perhaps after recovering from a spin) you may let them through quicker than a non-team mate - but remember as usual no blocking, but be extra helpful to your team mates!

To add to the pressure there might be some prizes!

I take it that there's not a yellow Mercedes to use then?

Don't worry, team Hill has a secret weapon. Go get them Harsk. ;)

You're not giving away a real Aston Martin are you!? I'll have one in yellow. Metallic would be nice.

Sadly not. The colours and numbers used on the Merc are historically accurate - it's slightly surprising that none were raced in Belgian yellow. According to the great Belgian driver, Olivier Gendebien, the secret to winning is to "take the corners slightly faster than one would want."

As Team Captain please ensure that all your team members live up to Enzo Ferrari's comment about Genebien - "a gentleman who never forgets that noblesse oblige and, when he is at the wheel, he translates this code of behaviour into an elegant and discerning forcefulness."

Sadly the prize chest is somewhat low, at the moment and it is best to keep expectations even lower!

Hey guys,

Has anyone run a time yet at Silverstone? My rehab is taking longer than I was expecting so I'm stuck up north away from my sim rig. Set a 1:49.3 when I was up last night using the PS4 controller (thank god for the motion sensor mode).

Just wanted to know if this was even in the realms of being competetive so as to be worth potentially annoying my in-laws by racing tomorrow night. Don't want to let the team down either!

Hey, you only had your op last week. ;)

DD has been getting 1.41s over in the Wednesday thread. But I think those are faster cars - and it is DD driving!

I wouldn't worry about times anyway. If you feel you're up to it come and give it a go. You'd get some points on the board anyway.
Since "it's grim up north" a bit of fun could help your recovery. :P

thank god for the motion sensor mode
I've never tried it. Does it work well then?

Ah yeah, I forgot to say that I did that time in the 300sl. DD did a time of 1:44.xxx in the time trial I noticed, but as you say, that's just him!

Well enough I guess, still need to fettle with the feel of it a bit...I think I've got too much dead zone in the middle at the moment. It's certainly far better than using the sticks however, I can't drive for toffee with those! You obviously loose all tactile feel for the car, but you are able to make minor adjustments to on the steering to balance the car through the corners a bit... Something very important in old cars like this!

Hi rj - My best lap times are about 2-3 seconds off the times in DD's post in the other thread (so probably about 4-5 seconds under racing conditions). I think sub 1:50 in the 300SL will be very competitive - I tried that car yesterday and was in the 1:52's so I am sure you can score some valuable team and individual points - providing you feel fit enough.

Info for all potential Reserve Drivers - there is a spare slot for Monday's race (today) due to absence of @Oldbass47 (Walter).

Important Information for All Racers - On Monday's the faster cars must complete 1 pit stop prior to 20 minutes of the race being completed (i.e. Ferrari and Aston). The Merc 300SL DOES NOT DO A PIT STOP.

This change has been made following extra testing and is intended to improve the racing and improve the odds for the Merc drivers.

Hopefully then it'll just be any damage repairs that will vary the length of the stop.

That's a tough one actually, the pit stops do throw a bit of a spanner in the works. What if there is someone leading with a little bit of damage picked up that doesn't affect handling or lap times too much, are they then forced to repair that damage and loose time or are they allowed to skip it?

Tbh, I would rather the pit stops be based on a car serving, in essence, a stop and go penalty. We know tyres are likely to last and we know the fuel is fixed due to setup and doesn't deplete anyway. Any damage repairs are therefore up to the discretion of the driver to complete. It actually could lead to closer racing if someone gets damaged early on, they can serve their pit stop and get the damage repaired, effectively only losing the time for the repairs as they would have had to serve a stop and go anyway.

If mandatory pit sop is for faster cars only, I guess this pit stop should be like DT penalty (is it possible?) to not gain any advantage according to slower cars. If damage repaire/tires change is needed - it should be another pit stop.

That's a tough one actually,
Yeah I know what you mean. Ideally creating an in and back out strategy would work well.

The reason I suggested to use default was because I'm not sure if everyone knows how to create a new pit strategy with limited repairs, no tyre change etc. And similarly whether everyone knows how to swap strategy mid race if repairs were required. With the default we'd all be under the same restrictions.

I suppose if we were to use the manual pitstop option you could in theory drive straight through without stopping. You'd need the pit limiter mapped to a button preferably - again not sure if everyone has this.
(This actually isn't too bad of an idea Sick! Drivers would still pit but could either choose to stop for repairs and tyres or drive on)

** If everyone does know how to create and swap strategies that's great. Ignore me. :)

How is the Ferrari ?
Hmm, now as captain I should of coarse be able to give you a full run down on the Ferrari. However I've no idea since I've yet to try any of them!

Don't worry I'll be fully prepared, I'm off to fire up the PS4 shortly. Just finishing this sandwich. ;)

Anchors away. Full speed ahead. (I might have got the captain bit wrong)

When I did the practise the other night I was on a manual pit stop with the controller, and the pit limiter was automatically applied, presumably because I didn't have it mapped on the dualshock.

I really like that idea as well Sick, keeps that element of choice available. I don't know how you did your balancing calculations though
