If the race started 1 hour earlier (8:30pm Eastern) would you participate?

QUESTION: Would the Chrome-trimmed Lambo be acceptibal for entry as well?

This'll make for an interesting week to decide which car to use for my part. And as the Pirelli tire tagline says "Power is nothing without Control".

I've never organized a race that required people to declare their vehicles. Frankly I think it's stupid to run races where only 1 person can use an Enzo, only 1 can use a Gallardo, a 512BB, etc. However, this past Monday we had an STi vs. Evolution race and pretty much everyone showed up with STis (except for mikethehockeyfan, who was the sole EVO whip). The racing was still good, but a little more variety in the field would've been fun too.

For the upcoming Ferrari / Lamborghini race I'm going to propose the following: Everyone post up a car that you're interested in using. If 7/8 people are planning on using a Ferrari, maybe some people would be willing to adjust. I for example have both a Ferrari (F40) and a Lamborghini (Countach '85) in mind, and I wouldn't mind racing either one.

In the end though, run what you want :)

Yeah, I looked at the results for that race and saw that it was almost all Subaru's, so that's why I wanted to ask. I didn't want this one to turn into an Enzo fest, or whatever Ferrari/Lambo happens to be the best.

Thanks, btw. I definitely plan on giving this a shot on Monday. Right now, I'm leaning toward the Enzo, but I don't even know if that comes in under 600pp. I'll take a look and if I change it, I'll post the new car here.

you can always reduce HP or add ballast to bring down the PP. I think you can even get a Veyron down to 600PP.

I doubt it's going to be an ENZO fest. I'd be more worried about everyone running Italias. I'm guessing Ferrari will be way more popular, so everyone should think about running a Lambo as well.

430 Scuderia '07
Gallardo LP 560-4 '08

Assuming everyone is far enough along in GT5 and has been completing the seasonal events, these two cars should be in everyone's garage and fairly modified. The Gallardo, in particular, I had to HEAVILY modify so BOB could win his spec race.

If we find these are showing up consistently, I can use either

599 '06
Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce '09

I assume the NOMAD Diablo GT-1 '00 is not allowed for this race.
Is this correct?

**MARCH 7 RACE TIME CHANGE**

Due to poll feedback the Lamborghini vs. Ferrari Race will start at 8:30pm Eastern (GMT-5) instead of 9:30pm. Lobby opens at 8:00pm.

Looks like everyone is cool with starting the race an hour early. Since there are no major concerns with Specs I'm going to lock everything down right now with an 8:30pm race time (8:00pm eastern lobby opens).

Idea for the March 28th race.

Nurburging GP/F
Aston Martin DB9 vs Jaguar XKR or Lotus Esprit vs TVR Tuscan (or Tamora since that would make both cars 2002 models)
What if we just made this race a British race and let all 4 marques compete?

Will the following cars be allowed for the Brit Car race?

Motor Sport Elise '99
XJ220 '92

I'm planning on running an Esprit Turbo HC '87. I dont believe it will be the quickest car, but certainly should make for an exciting go for me.

As a rule we generally don't allow cars with front adjustable downforce (i.e. RM vehicles, race cars, etc.) unless it's a one-make race and everybody has the opportunity to use them. That front adjustable downforce really gives an unfair advantage and encourages people to only use those cars, which defeats the purpose of running a multi-make race.

To answer your other question, we (you, myself, everyone else) haven't come to a consensus regarding that Nurburgring GP/F race yet. Prophet gave 2 2-make race ideas. He made a good point that allowing all British cars to race together would mean that pretty much nobody would use a Jag or Aston Martin.

Personally I'm more fired up about having a chance to race in an Esprit than either the Jag or Aston, but on the other hand this event has done a good job mixing up cars and getting people in vehicles they otherwise wouldn't drive. It's a good thing we have a couple weeks to figure it out.

Bump

I have both the following cars heavily modified and I'm on the fence about the race. I'd be willing to share either for the race if I decide to go a different direction. They both meet race PP specs and you'd be welcome to fidgit with the trans/Diff/height as you see fit.

430 Scuderia '07
Gallardo LP 560-4 '08

I have an extra Espirit Turbo HC '87 I'm willing to share should anyone wish to use for possible Lotus/TVR race. My only bugaboo is that its shared back post race. Its been modified with the following:

Sport soft tires
Sport muffler
Full LSD
sports single clutch/flywheel
full racing trans
chassis Maintanence (no re-enforcement)
rear spoiler option 2

Its currently red, not sure of specific color.

If any takers, just send me a PM. The race is a ways away, but if you're undecided, you can roll with this. :dopey:

I'm all tested and ready for the Lamborghini vs. Ferrari race Monday night. I have 2 cars at the ready, a 2009 Lamborghini Murcielago SuperVeloce and a 2009 Ferrari 458 Italia. Both cars are currently shared in my garage if you want to check out my setup. Will probably end up using the Lamborghini unless there isn't much Ferrari representation.

I need some more laps, but I think I'm all set as far as cars go.

I have a SuperVeloce, a Gallardo, and an Enzo pretty well tuned and ready. Although the Superveloce is the easist to drive, in my opinion. For some reason I can't get the understeer out of the Enzo.

What are your lap times, if I may ask? I think I broke 1:09 a few times, but consistently i'm in the 1:10's.

The Enzo would be so much fun if it would turn. The world would be a better place if the Enzo would turn.

I'm pulling 1:09-1:10s also.

Folks we might have a problem here. I put this race in at 150KM, and at that distance it's the longest race we've done so far. However, it turns out that it's also the fastest race we've done. With the lap times we've seen we're looking at a 45-50 minute race only @ 150KM.

If we bump that from 150KM (43 laps) up to 200KM (57 laps) we're at 65-70 minutes. I know a lot of people have been practicing and tuning for this race, and have their setup for a 1 pit strategy. I' hate to bother anyone with a change this late in the game but I'd like to know your thoughts

Ok when I started this post I had just finished two tire stints and my averages were about 1:09-1:10 per lap with stock settings. I just finished my 3rd stint with stock settings and I've dropped it down to 1:08-1:09 with a fastest lap of 1:08.3xx. I'd say that I could probably hit a 1:07 with a few more runs but it's time to start working with a setup.

As for the race length the longer the better as far as I'm concerned. Especially since we have the earlier race start time. My third stint was 20 laps but I was out of front tires and it took 23:50.xxx from pit out to pit in, so your looking at an average of 1:11.3 or so with stock settings. With that in mind here are some project times based on laps.

58 Laps ≈ 200km ≈ 68 Minutes
70 Laps ≈ 150 Miles ≈ 83 Minutes
72 Laps ≈ 250km ≈ 85 Minutes
76 Laps ≈ 1.5 Hours

Since it's so early in testing I think the race pace could be a bit faster but I'm not sure how much faster.

if you guys want 76 laps i'm down.

EDIT: i could do up to 2 hours of racing if you guys really want. imagine how much pit strategy would come into play.

totally pumped for the earlier start time :)

Me too. At least I won't have a early start time for work to worry about this week.:dopey: And I'm getting a inkling as to what my car to use for this weeks race may be.:sly:
