Shift Indicator is great for when you are learning. Once you know a track it isn't quite so handy maybe like a friendly co-driver who wants his car back after the event. Unlike my Audi A4 which got writen off yesterday when a friend drove it... (Calm thoughts)

Man, I had no idea so many people find it useful..the indicator. I'm eating my words!

For a typical 'bronzish-silver' driver like me the indicator is very useful :)
When I know a track it becomes less important, as others have said too.

QFE! I'm strictly a 'bronze' driver and I use it all the time lol.

The Daihatsu Midget '63 and the Subaru 360. Just the worst

Why? The idea is that you drive them, because slow can be fun. My Toyota Sports 800 tops out at 95mp/h, but is great fun to drive. Why? Because it likes to oversteer a bit, which means that you can get the back end out at really low speeds, which is fun.

Although they aren't exactly useless as such, I have a problem with the Special COnditions events. Apart from Tsukuba Wet, you have to do 10 laps forwards and backwards for each. That is really annoying, as I hate these tracks anyway. The worst are Chamonix and Grand Canyon, as they are both far too long, but at least I went and did all the road events first, followed by Cathedral Rocks Trail I on Hard, which gave me the Escudo for the rest of them.

I actually find cars like those to be great fun, full custom trans tuned with longer gear ratios allows them to get somewhere before you fall asleep. Some of the wheels I don't care for but that's personal choice, I would LOVE to see some American Racing or Cragars though, instead of waiting and praying for them to show up as a special.

Or the ability to change wheel size. Turning up one or two is common and should be allowed...

Hey, who said Lexani and Giovanni is NFS? ;)

Actually, adjusting wheel sizes individually could be a great way to adjust the handling on your car 💡 Good one GT4_Rule! :)👍

And I'm just saying that because they are really shiny  and NFS is very shiny, IMO.

Yes I agree with both. Furthermore I would love to be able to change the tyre sizes by details such as profile, width and diameter.

Just for example, wouldn't your Mercury Cougar look a whopper with 255 mm, %30 profile and 21 inch tyres ? No matter what wheel you purchase, the tyre is still the ugly fat black ring :yuck: which makes the beauty of the wheel disappear. Further yet, the more you are able to play with your tyre size by diameter, width and profile, you can change the grip in an abundance of ways.

Also stagger is a good idea for the ring. But a single use change could be useless for the software programmers.

Thanks both of you :)

I agree with modik on the Mercury Cougar thing. It's not just that car - lots of other older cars look ugly with those tiny rims. Might as well just not buy it a new rim and save the 500Cr. because you'll hardly notice the new, good looking rims...

not sure if it fits with "most useless" but more of "most annoying".

1. Online racing - I don't LAN (who does nowadays) and not many ppl i know play GT4, so if only they had it :/
2. Invisible walls - sometimes i forget about them and i find it quite annoying. eg. hairpin at monaco. yes u can ride the kerb a bit, but that's it.

can't say i find the 5sec THAT annoying although it does get annoying when the AI hits you through no fault of your own.

I don't mind the supposed endless model rang of skylines etc, although i'm sure the dvd can squeeze a bit more car shapes/data on it.

about the menu system:
just buy and say no or hit the "back out" button (circle or triangle) to fitting now and install it later at the track. it's a lot faster that way.

you can also time the button clicking to be quite immediate.

another annoying/useless thing: counting down the prize money to $0.

at 10k credits, if you hold onto a button, it drops to 0 straightaway.
can't be said with most other amounts.

But then we'd have to worry about rotational inertia, unsprung weight and how much the wheels add to that... and... and... oh well...

But yeah, I agree with this heavily. If PD can get the factors for wheel diameter and weight right. 👍 👍

Me and my bro play this game all the time and i find it stupid that you can only have 1 profile on the memory card.

I find it useless that you can only load your car into arcade mode but as its stock form.

You only have one memory card? By myself I have three. One is all Gran Turismo (back-ups for GT1, GT2, GT3, and GT4), another is all my most played games, including GT4, and the third is mainly my wife's card for Sims and a few other things but also used as a second back-up for GT4 and saves I have from her games and my football game back-ups.

I agree it would be nice to have multiple profiles per card, but with the way GT4 will attempt to erase data having multiple cards is a good idea anyway.

Hopefully this will be addressed with GT5 because only one profile on the hard drive would suck. This makes me think that the data corruption needs to be solved too because corrupting my hard drive would really piss me off.

Ditto here. And considering the savegame is 1.4 mb and the standard card size is 8 mb, plus the possibility of memory card failure, I'd rather have accounts on separate cards. I backup my savegame at least once a week.

I am pretty sure that GT1 and GT2 saves have to be on PS1 memory card and cannot be put on a PS2 card.

They are backups. You can copy PS1 saves to a PS2 card, but the game won't read it. When I play any PS1 game I still have to use a PS1 card, but then I backup GT1 and GT2 on my GT only card.

I find that one of the most useless things is the Gymkhana Course. It says something about 'indespensible for improving your driving technique.' Surley there are better places to improve your driving technique? I suppose it might be useful for people who like to drift? I don't, so I don't know.

Oh, and I think they used the same sound for a few cars (the old MX-5 sound for instance, is on the MX-5, Camaro Race Car, Peugeot 206, Alfa Sprint, etc.) which shows PD couldn't be bothered with new sounds, which is a bit useless of them.

arcade mode is useless when all your friends suck at GT...

Amen. Thankfully though, we have Xlinx Kai to solve that. I don't have it, but it is apparently very good.

EDIT: I got another one for the Most Useless things: Falken Wheels. 2 Wheels. Oh boy. [/end sarcasm]

Sure they look good on a few cars, but it would be a lot better if they put a few more wheels in, since they have the patience to model a Falken-sponsored race car (Nissan Skyline GT-R FALKEN *star* Race Car).
