The proof will be in the game play. Many, many, many game developers employ very slick marketing while launching a game. Yes the graphics look great, the damage model is awesome and there is tons of talk about having real world physics. I will believe it when I drive it. Drive Club hyped quite a bit. I played a demo a few weeks ago and it was very arcade like - not as bad as Need for Speed, but still very much point and shoot driving physics.
GT6 may have gotten the settings wrong, but the drive is still the best that we have so far. Once you figure out how to glitch the settings, most cars drive quite well. I am not disappointed in the drive in GT6. Other things bother me like, stupid AI who brake mid-corner (who does that in real life) and lack of promised features like the course maker.
