Motorcycles in GT6?

GT5 took to long to correct for TT2 to come out, if GT6 goes to plan, we might get it after. Leave GT6 on 4 wheels (3 with exception) and TT2 as 2 wheels (full game or add-on, don't care)

Let me tell you what happens in Motorstorm: The bikes take a different off-road route from the cars, buggies and trucks, so they don't get killed to death.

In a world of rammers with Tank Cars and X1s, and dirty racers joining "clean" rooms and proceeding to overtake by dive-bomb ramming like they do with the AI, I think bikes will be a waste of time in GT. Choosing a bike against cars will essentially be suicide, as even unintentional, light touches by cars will ruin your race. (This is assuming PD would make proper physics for the bikes in the first place. If the bikes can touch cars without any major problems, or they decide to ghost the bike in that situation so they don't touch, that would be far worse than any dirty racing problems)

If you don't think this is going to be a problem online, I dunno what to say.

Make a TT2 instead, it would be better. Release after GT6 of course. 👍

I wouldn't even care about that, you could always restrict online rooms to bikes only.
I don't actually care one way or the other, as long as pd puts bikes in a game again.

If they did add it, it would be best if no career races had car vs bike, and all online lounges could be restricted so it's one or the other. It would be fun for track days and comparison races as long as they allowed you to regulate properly. It would be amazing to do a track day with such variety.

I honestly wouldn't like to see it. When you think about it, more people would be going, "Oh, Ferraris/McLarens/R35s/whatever, sweet!" than, "Harley Davidson Warhammer 555 123456 Limited Edition! Awesome!!" Because, you know, motorcycles don't have good names. Always something hard to remember.

If you have to set disclaimers for them, they probably don't belong.

At least your 'argument' is original....

This is hilarious. But you're right. I haven't seen too many good names for motorcycles.

i dunno, dodge tomahawk sounds ace

Disclaimers? I mean have set up like GT already has for every racing car. You can already chose to have specific cars only in a lounge, what I'm describing is exactly the same. I'm just saying in career it should be bike vs bike and car vs car.

I'm not seeing a race there, just a time trial against the clock which is obviously not the same as both being on the track at the same time which is what my point has been.
Yes a time trial, which means that's it wouldn't be staged for safety concerns. Come to think of it, "staged" doesn't even fit if it's done for safety.

Everyone here, defending bikes or not, says that cars and bikes don't race in sanctioned races, so trying to figure out how car/bike professional races will work out in GT is a bit off. They will be for fun events to be done at the willingness of players.

If you don't think this is going to be a problem online, I dunno what to say.

I don't think there will be a problem. If online was as you described, how could anyone even play it? 95% of GT5 to me has been online with random people in clean and competitive rooms. These clean rooms included X1's and Tank Cars too.

Private races, room restrictions, player kicking. What is the problem? It's not like 8 players are forced to use cars and the other 8 must use bikes.

Well obviously not every lobby is like that. I just see another way for unseen PD weirdness to show up with the inclusion of bikes.

That has been my experience though, even so-called "clean" rooms have dirty overtaking involved a lot of the time. The strict ones tend to kick Tank Car users on sight, so I can only imagine how often bike users would get kicked if they were taking advantage of a "ghost to overtake" technique, due to PD trying to protect bike users in races. Just an example. There would be bike only rooms of course, with discriminate kicking of everyone entering a car. Vice-versa as well. No problem with that of course.

I guess the question is, why would you want to race against cars on a bike? Especially race cars with downforce. For the challenge, I suppose... Like I sometimes do when I bring a Yellowbird online. I can see that.

No, my real beef with including bikes is that they might, in typical PD fashion, be a "selectively done" feature. I would rather they focused on a great car game instead of making us wait, while they model bikes and try to fix potential gameplay issues with them.

Funny! Come on, Duc, Desmo, Monster, Gixxer, Busa, R6, R1, Kawi, none of them trip your trigger? As stated earlier, not a great reason not to have bikes, but at least it is original.

I would say for the same reason you (not you specifically) would want to race cars against cars, or do anything you enjoy.

This question is an individual thing. Some people probably don't find appeal in racing realistic cars.

Exactly. Just as it's an individual thing to not want bikes in a traditionally car racing game. :sly:

Then for your sake, and everyone of the same mindset. I hope if they do add bikes in any capacity they do it in a way that you will never have to see them or interact with them unless your curiosity gets the best of you and you decide to fork over some $$ to do so. I don't want to ruin the traditionalists game experience, I want to enhance mine!

There is a difference though. Add bikes, and both sides can be happy.

Yes, bikes will take time and resources, but the "traditional" thing doesn't have much to do with that.

I'm not crazy for bikes myself, but I see tradition as a terrible reason to keep them out.

Lets add planes too. Like those Redbull Air race ones..

I WANT TO RACE PLANES!!

PD can add whatever they like and they can be happy. Seriously, at some point these things are just so silly. Anyone in this thread that can't wait to buy gt6 will buy it with or without cycles and will not be unhappy.

I don't know if you're serious, but why not. Why should any kind of vehicle be excluded if it won't negatively effect the development of the game?

A long time ago there was a rewind thread for GT5. Someone likened rewind to bananas from Mario Kart asking if adding such a thing would ruin the game. It wouldn't, because you could just ignore it.

I think both sides have some good arguments in this thread though.

^^^ He definitely wasn't being serious. I like how you counteracted it though.

Remember what you said, mjm23race. You see the kind of garbage posts they made above mine.

Would I be unhappy to get gt6? No. Would I be disappointed knowing PD could have easily added bikes and made gt6 into a game changer for this genre? Yes, absolutely!

I was actually kidding though, A game can be much more successful when it is specific and targeted and it clearly knows what it is. In this case.. a DRIVING simulator. Just because on paper it might sound good to have everything possible in the one game doesn't mean it will be, the spectrum becomes too broad and you will have a game that does a half ass job of a lot of things and is a specialist at nothing, and god knows thats already becoming GT's problem.... it certainly doesn't need any further distractions.

GT6 should be cars and only cars. It is after all the "driving" simulator, not riding, or flying.
