Correct @JC_Dude!

The numbers I have are:
1. GBR 160
2. USA 158
3. Italy 98
4. France 70

I was looking this up the other day, I knew before that GBR was top but not that it was as close with USA as it is. I also expected Germany to be higher as well.

What is very interesting is that M. Schumacher was the first German F1 champion.

Anyway, my question is:

Which rallies were a part of the WRC only once?

If Lewis Hamilton doesn't miss any races for Mercedes from now on, which of Michael Schumacher's long standing records will he break at the 2016 Italian Grand Prix?

Consecutive races as champion in the same team? Probably not, Vettel would have more than Hamilton I think...

Lewis would need a few more seasons as champ to get there.

Consecutive races as championship leader? I think MSC holds that one... but I guess the Vettel clause would still apply... hmmm, this is a tough one... can't be to do with scores/positions as nothing's a given for 2016...

Most races for each of two teams?
Edit: What I am trying to say is the most races for their second most prolific team in terms of starts.
Now that I think of it more, that is a really obscure stat to think of.

I feel old.

I don't recall Hamilton having not started a race he was entered for... Consecutive races without a DNS?

Which would be similar to my suggestion of consecutive GP starts, but worded better. It's a good shout, assuming it's from the debut race; the time between Schumacher's first race and first DNS is quite long; Belgium '91 to France '96. The numbers don't quite add up (Schumacher's 4 and a bit years to Hamilton's 7 and a bit by Italy 2016) but there might be a longer streak in Schumacher's career and Hamilton's streak just happens to be from his debut.

It's something that'll be achieved by Monza 2016 and requires Hamilton to start every race, and in a Mercedes. I think you're both onto something but I think I have a more refined version of that guess...

Most consecutive starts with the same engine in the back?

EDIT: Damn, just saw Jimlaad's post, not my guess either then :D

To satisfy my own curiosity I looked up the answer I came up with: when Schumacher returned to racing in Malaysia after his broken leg in 1999, he started every GP he was entered for - 180 in total (achieved with Ferrari and Mercedes power). The 2016 Italian GP will be Hamilton's 181st race start, but Button has more - Abu Dhabi tomorrow will be his 195th without a DNS, dating back to Indy 2005. There may well be others. So it isn't that.

Edit: Felipe Massa had 191 Ferrari-powered starts, so it's not that either.

Despite being made by Ferrari, the Sauber engines were classed as "Petronas"

He was DNS in Bahrain this year, I think?

Yes, he was.

Indeed he was, I looked it up :D

The Interwebs
  • Riccardo Patrese - 187 (BEL 1982 – AUS 1993)
  • Jenson Button - 179 (FRA 2005 – CHN 2015)
  • Fernando Alonso - 176 (FRA 2005 – ABD 2014)
  • David Coulthard - 175 (BRA 1995 – CAN 2005)
  • Nico Rosberg - 170 (BRN 2006 – BRN 2015) active
  • Rubens Barrichello - 167 (GER 2002 – BRA 2011)
  • Alain Prost - 160 (USW 1981 – BRA 1991)
  • Mark Webber - 157 (FRA 2005 – BRA 2013)
  • Lewis Hamilton - 152 (AUS 2007 – BRN 2015) active

So not the most consecutive starts with the same power, can't be the most starts (non-consecutive) with the same power... I have no idea then :D
Yep, the most starts with the same engine manufacturer.
Schumacher has 180 with Ferrari
Hamilton has 166 with Mercedes

Just going back to the engine post from a page or two back, I'd still say they were Ferrari engines. What they're classed as is irrelevant. What they are is important. Sponsored by Petronas? Undoubtedly so. But did the Acer computer company really supply Prost's 2001 engines or were they also Ferrari engines with a different name on the TV timing screen?

Massa certainly has a claim to the most Ferrari powered starts but where the hairs split is open to interpretation.

Doesn't really matter, they were classed as Petronas in the championships, therefore they are officially Petronas/Acer

That's what I said here ;)

Just in case that means I got the answer... here's a question;

Which F1 driver has had the shortest F1 career by distance (race start to end of career)? :D

There was a Japanese driver who drove for one of the major fail teams of the early '90s (Life, I think?) who only drove one practice session before he was replaced, and only drove half a lap of Suzuka in said practice session, but for the life of me I can't remember his name.

Question edited to make it clear that they have to have taken a race start... but otherwise, yes, I think there have actually been a few of those ;)

I think you might be mixing up Naoki Hattori (who racked up two DNPQs for Coloni late in 1991) and Masami Kuwashima, who withdrew from the 1976 Japanese GP after just one practice session.

Is the answer Marco Apicella?
