I'm really digging Stenhouse Jr.'s paint scheme. It just fits better with a six on it.

Pretty much. And he can't possibly be trying to save four laps of fuel, can he? That sounds like a recipe for running out with two to go and finishing 22nd.

EDIT: No, he isn't. Good.

Smart move. Brad's got a cushion in points.

Why is Bowyer running the high line? Isn't that a longer way around?

Brad may have a cushion, but there will probably be a point later in this Chase when he really wishes he had those ~13 points back.

After tonight, I think it's fair to say that everyone from seventh in the points on down is out of contention (sorry, Gordon fans), and realistically only the top three or four can claim that they have much of a shot.

It also appears that Busch and Allmendinger are not going to provide some kind of magical boost to their new teams.

Have we had way more fuel mileage races than normal this year, or does it just feel like it? If so, I have to imagine the main reason is the overall lack of non-debris cautions, including near the end of a race.

It's a 4 car race. Keselowski, Johnson, Hamlin, and Bowyer are the only ones who have any possibility of winning the championship, and for Hamlin and Bowyer they need luck.

Anyone think that we will finally have a champion other than Johnson or Stewart?

I sure as heck hope so! I wouldn't mind any of those other guys to pull it off but it would be funny if Bowyer won after being let go from RCR or Hamlin with his CC after he won it last year.

He is able to let out of the gas sooner, but carry more speed around the outside while off of the throttle. It also means he doesn't need to accelerate as hard coming out of the corner to get back up to speed. If he were to try to run the inside line, the car would scrub off more speed by turning in a tighter radius, which would require more fuel to accelerate out of the corner.

I couldn't help thinking as I watched the race last night that Johnson and for that matter, all of HMS haven't seemed to really be "in control" of things this year like they have been in years past. Could we be watching the slow decline of the once mighty giant?
I think the introduction of the new cars next year will have one of two results, either the field will be much more even or HMS's big $ will put them a step above. I would prefer the first result, the more drivers/teams that have a chance of winning the more interesting the racing!
I would also love to see Dodge go out on top this year, maybe it will bring them back sooner as well as the captain getting his first big win in Nascar.

I hope Keselowski can hold on, but I think someone else will take it, hopefully not Johnson.

Brad really needs to focus during these last few races, but still if Wolfe hadn't mess up the strategy I think Brad K would have won last night. He will be strong at Kansas.

Our 2012 champion will be Jimmie Johnson unless aliens suck all the driving talent out of him, which is almost as unlikely as Danica Patrick scoring a top-10 next year in her rookie Sprint Cup season.

How about I set you all up for the rest of the season? Here are the remaining schedules for NASCAR's top three series:

--- Remaining Trucks Schedule ---
Oct. 27 - Martinsville
Nov. 2 - Texas
Nov. 9 - Phoenix
Nov. 16 - Homestead

--- Remaining Nationwide Schedule ---
Oct. 20 - Kansas
Nov. 3 - Texas
Nov. 10 - Phoenix
Nov. 17 - Homestead

--- Remaining Cup Schedule ---
Oct. 21 - Kansas
Oct. 28 - Martinsville
Nov. 4 - Texas
Nov. 11 - Phoenix
Nov. 18 - Homestead

Time to see who all will be champions in each series by each season's end. The season is winding down, folks. Time for the drivers to continue that push towards hoisting up the championship trophy.

I can't wait til Martinsville! I have pit passes but got bailed on my girl I was seeing so going alone.

So if we're to go by that final conclusion, then what the hell are you still watching for?

People assume just because he is up there he will win but BK has been stronger and Hamlin is in par too. Bowyer will be the dark horse now but might make it interesting with how he has run.

Well afterall he was going to win had he not ran out of fuel last Saturday.

I don't have the link but reports on ESPN are saying Truck series are maybe headed to Eldora for dirt track in 2013. RCR is supposed to be testing there.

It looks like 2013 might being interesting schedule for trucks with possible road course too.

Linky link.

Truck Race on Eldora speedway a possibility?
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR may be considering adding a dirt race at Eldora Speedway to its Truck Series schedule.

Multiple sources within the series said they've been told a dirt track could be added to the schedule in 2013. Sources also said a Richard Childress Racing truck was prepared for a test at Eldora, owned by three-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart.

The test was scheduled to take place Monday or Tuesday, the sources said. Officials at Eldora could not be reached for comment.

Stewart has been asking NASCAR to add a race at his half-mile track in Rossburg, Ohio, for several years. It is the site of his annual Prelude to the Dream charity event.

NASCAR officials declined to address specifically whether Eldora was under consideration for a truck race, but the series is looking at potential venues it hasn't been to before.

"We've made several site visits over the past few months to look at possible future venues for our Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series," spokesman Kerry Tharp said on Tuesday. "We expect the 2013 schedules for both of those series to be finished up and released within the next couple of weeks."
