I'm a bit concerned as i notice the speed easily went up to 216 mph under draft with a little more space for more speed comeing into turn 1/3? (maybe could've gone 218)... im pretty sure RL counterparts can only go up to somewhere around 205-210 and that's in qualifying trim... draft is still too sucky-sucky :(

Heres the deal

PD is now saying they are offering 9 NASCARs

If you notice if you count the cars seen from last years E3 like Michael Waltrips car and Denny Hamlins car to the ones they've shown now you have more then 9

At the official PD site in their NASCAR section they show just 9 NASCARs, all of them are 2010 cars with spoilers

They may have scrapped michal waltrips and denny hamlins and all the wing cars all together.

Look at tony stewarts car and jimmie johnsons car closely you will see the paint scheme is different from the '09 season and the '09 e3 trailer

Looks like they now have a '10 license and will only be releasing these '10 cars.

Since the game was delayed from '09 the '09 cars appear to be gone for gooed

I think the "9 models" thing is more '09 and '10 versions count as different models and we will see older versions as well as maybe Nationwide cars.

There was a trailer on spike TV two days before where The cars had the 2010paint schemes, but still had the wing. Also they have said that more Nascar models will be in before the game's release so who knows how many will exactly be there.

OH YAY, I JUST LOVE DRIVING IN OVALS! The only time i'm using NASCAR is when i wanna take a brake from actual racing and just try create the biggest pileup orrrr if i am forced to in the career mode..

You just need to find people who know how to race on ovals.
Someone like me!! ;)

If this is your idea of oval racing, well then, leave me out. :(

Someone mentioned spotters in races.
I would guess the spectators allowed to watch online races could easily fill that position.

Yes but what about GT mode, in NR2003 my spotters are indispensable, i just dont have time to check side mirrors or rear views, to make quick decisions and prevent beeing spun out while over taking at 200km\h, the spotter got my back, "three wide, youre in the middle."

He was probably one of the people at e3 that was either hugging the wall or facing towards the infield. Since he can't drive, he goes backwards and creates massive wrecks. This isn't exactly EA Sports anymore.

As far as the whole 16 racing and 16 spectating goes, I love it. I like the idea of having a spotter telling you information like telling me if a car is coming inside or outside. They could also tell you lap times and compare them to other competitors your racing against.

Not only could they act as a spotter, but also as a crew chief. You tell him how your car is driving and he gives you feedback on line adjustments or what changes you could make on a pit stop.

I love Nascar, i love GT, but i'm a bit worried.

So far they haven't showed why they acquired the license to it, and Los Angeles was the place to show it.

So far we have "officially" 9 cars and 2 tracks.

I hear people saying Bristol, Talladega, Darlington, and i think they will be very disappointed when they realise those tracks are not gonna be on the final game. Maybe Sonoma and Texas (since KY and his crew were there), but the others... not so much.

Also, i haven't heard anything about older models (would be cool to have Dale's Goodwrench car in it), Nationwide models or the trucks.

It looks bare bones at this point, and a shame they didn't talked about it more during E3.

In the GT mode GUI, you can see Special Events with a pic of a Crew Chief talkin to a driver in front of what looks lijke an oval grandstand, so i doubt well be having to race only on Daytona and Indy, and TR MOtegi ;)

If they don't include a short track oval, .75 of a mile or less, then they've failed to properly bring NASCAR to Gran Turismo

NASCAR's roots is short track racing. These cars are also the most fun to race eachother on short tracks

Considering how over the top the drafting still is in Gran Turismo short tracks may be the only ovals where your oval track skill can shine

Hate to break it to you, but thats Daytona...

I wasnt trying to say its a new track, im just saying it is featured as a special event, like rally in previous GT's, we didnt only have 2-3 tracks....especially when they are all alike, so i believe we are gonna see new tracks as far as NASCAR circuits.

Hmm, nah i said in my post when i take a break from proper racing. I would gladly give you an arse kicking in a proper discipline of racing but racing in ovals isn't for me. :)

You said actual racing. But thats the same thing as proper. Either way, your saying oval racing isn't a form of racing. It's apparent that you don't understand oval racing which further means your probably not very good at it. I'm not going to say anything about the whole arse kicking in a "proper discipline of racing" situation because i know how that would turn out. I'm done with this now so we don't start a big fight and destroy this thread.

Really hoping we get the Monster Mile. 👍 Probably just another course for the 'wishfull thinking' list though :indiff:

If I could, I'd have all of NASCAR's tracks included. But right now, it looks like were only getting Daytona, Indy, and Infineon. It's not much, but it's better than nothing.

Any chance that you can pull up a pic of this?

See I don't really class Infineon as a NASCAR track. Its just a general track that NASCAR happen to race on.

However a short highly banked oval would be something very different from anything we've seen previewed so far, even in terms of modelling the physics for it. The closest we've seen is the banking at Daytona, but thats not really in the same league.

So certainly hoping some other proper tracks will sneak in as well.

It's in the Gran Turismo 5 Uncovered article on the official gran-turismo.com page. Page 5 i think.

Infineon has its own Stock Car configuration to suit COTs, NASCAR track to me, not a trademark OVal but still NASCAR like Watkins.

Somehow I think that Test Course and Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway (not confirmed, but probably will be in the game) will be used too for the GT5 NASCAR championship.

Just got a chance to watch the G4TV video of NASCAR and GT5

Why do the cars have 5 gears instead of 4? I can't believe PD would foul up like this on such a basic reality

4 gears is plenty for these cars even on roadcourses, they have plenty of torque and horsepower. In fact there may not be a racecar in the game with more horsepower then the stock cars

Again, i just want to mention that the draft still seems to be too strong. One video shows that the car
went up to 216mph coming into turn 1 or 3 and still had room to accelerate more. Real life cars in qualifying
trim can only go up to 205-210. Race trim can top at 198-202 with no draft and that's with new tires...

Yep. I think 216Mph is about as fast as most Nascars have gone without the restrictor plate, so I don't know really know how it's being able to keep so much speed.

I really hope they'll give us the free option to adjust draft in online sessions, IF they are not able to do that properly themselves. It clearly was adjustable in academy build (differences between different region finals), so hope lives.
