NASCAR in GT5!

Again, i just want to mention that the draft still seems to be too strong. One video shows that the car
went up to 216mph coming into turn 1 or 3 and still had room to accelerate more. Real life cars in qualifying
trim can only go up to 205-210. Race trim can top at 198-202 with no draft and that's with new tires...

This is dissaponting to hear... If not final gt5 has realistic draft then I think nascar will be epic fail :indiff: With realistic draft nascar could have bin really intense online! Lets hope PD tweak it before november. Was actually looking forward to learining more about nascar, but now I just hope nascar dont take to much room in the game :ouch:

Timppaq; Yeah lets pray the draft is adjustable... dont seem like a hard thing to do, and if PD follows GTP like they have said then they should know 90% of gt community hates the gt5p draft 👍

Yeah, I've been wondering about this since NASCAR was introduced. The draft effect in Prologue is just so ridiculous and waaaaay overexaggerated. If it's the same in GT5, NASCAR is going to be very unrealistic in that regard and it will be so easy to pass and catch up from behind.

Whats worse is the only ovals revealed so far are 2.5 mile monsters with half mile long straights. Plenty of time for someone to gain all the time lost in the turns on the straights in the draft.

A short .5 mile track like Martinsville or Bristol would allow skill to shine even with the current draft.

Here is a video of Indianapolis. Notice at the beginning of the clip from the onboard camera the draft is only worth 2 or 3 mph at Indianpolis, not 20mph as seen at E3

Agreed.

Nice to see you defending Nascar again!

the Gt academy demo (finalists) had an option to alter the draft to become more realistic ,drafting is no longer a problem.

Here's a good example at how hard it is to pass at Indy with 2 pretty even cars.
Slip stream had little to no factor. Starting at 2:30 - Mark Martin was about 2-4 car
lengths behind Jimmie Johnson. That went on til' the last lap. Martin never made the pass.

Sincerely,
Closet NASCAR fan...

I really hope there is a setting to adjust the draft. Because after seeing that video, and then watching some game play from E3...GT5 is nowhere near that draft...

Pretty pumped up to race NASCAR style. And remember, in NASCAR, rubbin' is racin'!! Unfortunately, this will be taken to a whole new sad level.

Do you have a source? I am interested in seeing more about this....

Sorry for the late reply ,Not sure where I got it from but you can contact any fellow memmber of gtplanet who has been to the finals (Dan Holland)for example and I am sure they can share how it worked.

Thankyou very much Timpaq, and the very best of luck in your national final. The drafting effect has not changed one bit from prologue so keep that in mind.

I can personally swear that at the nordic finals the draft was greatly reduced from the prologue, almost missed the pass over Midmark (hi mate ) on the Daytona finish straight due to that.. :P

Guys, the physics in the demo were set for standard. I'm sure that applies to drafting as well.

Sure, I can ask him when I find him around. Whats his user name these days?

Alright, I believe you.

Aren't all the E3 video's against AI (not Kevin Harvick)? 💡
The draft is still exagerrated in those videos, don't get me wrong.

Are the recent NASCAR GT5 videos nationwide cars? I wonder why there are no COT GT5 videos?

Those are the COT cars. The COT cars now have spoilers instead of the wings. Maybe we could get the new Nationwide COT cars.

Oh cool. I guess I learned something every day!
Is there a reason why they went back to the spoiler and not the wing? (I actually prefer the spoiler anyway).

Also, what other modifications did they make? Is the COT car faster than the previous one?(with wing)?

Can someone show me an image comparison of the spoiler vs wing? I don't know the difference in relation to NASCAR cars.

I thought spoiler was just a term for a rear wing.

Spoiler:

yeah, and IRL the quarterpanels come down to be level with the sideskirts, something they've overlooked thus far (it is a recent change, debuted the same week as the spoiler.

I don't think there is a difference no matter what race series it's in. When we're talking rear/trunk wings and spoilers it's the same thing.
The terms have been used interchangeably for decades.
Looks like people associate spoiler with something that has stand offs between the body part and the actual wing, and they associate wing with something that is entirely connected to the body part with no stand offs.

Considering most of you guys are huge fans of Nascar, I'm sure a lot of you have seen this video...

But after watching it I am absolutely JACKED to race Nascar in GT5!

If you haven't seen it I would make it full screen and just sit back...

Man, that video is 🤬 awesome, thanks for sharing 👍👍. That got me pretty excited. It will be cool having racing teams online for Nascar events. Anyone driving the Kyle Busch car will get put into the wall by me though :P

Also, with the day/night cycles, it's gonna be amazing doing late laps into the sunset and under the lights like you see in that vid!
