i dont get it ? why take such a boring sport like nascar and add them to gt5 .. .. I mean aren't the Standared Car's not boring enough:lol: why over kill it :odd:

Lol, Nascar can be pretty boring at times. I know, I've been to several races in Texas and Charlotte. But, whats interesting is the great racing and neat crashes. Plus the drama of the drivers.

You obviously have not read or seen any Kaz interviews about why Nascar is in GT5. It would be a mistake not to include it.

Take a look at this: http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5202.html

If you don't get it after viewing that video, then I suggest you take your whining to the EMO thread. Here https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=128316

Question can you race those Nascar's in other tracks like LE MAN .. or just the oval tracks ... Please answer ... casue if that's the case then i dont mind it so much :yuck:

Nürburgring? Think of a Stock car as a poor handling Ford GT-40, but with more power. Around 850 Hp to be exact. With a track like Nurburgring, it would be hard to get a 'neutral' handling stock car.
You ever drove a stock car?well SHUT UP till you drive one..SC handels 10times better than a FOUND ON ROAD DEAD (ford)..and ford gt is a MR..A stock car is FR. two diffrent cars.Next time find a better car to compair it to:drool:

Of course you bloody can. If you'd bother to open your eyes instead of the stupid pre conceived opinion formed by most, Nascars have several road races every year and to say that they're a different animal to any other track car is the understatement of the year. As I say to anybody that hasn't bothered with Nascar get yourself a trial to iracing and go and race the legends on tracks like south boston. Then while you're spinning around getting driven into the wall or racing side by side for laps on end, magnify that by about 20 and you have the sprint cup version of Nascar. Putting it another way, Nascar oval racing is like what Monaco is to F1 drivers. People tend to forget that these cars have limited traction and are hurtling along at over 150mph on track that have a tendency to bump quite a bit.

Stock Cars can turn left and right. You could take that car in the snow if you wanted to. Not that you would want to. :)

The problem is, the damn thing is so hard to drive, which is what makes Nascar so challenging. If you have ever played Nascar 2003, you would get the more real feel for what a stock car handles. My hope is in GT5 it is the same. Hard to drive. :)

You can race it anywhere you want..nascar season has 2 road courses:tup:

So from my understanding we will only be getting Daytona and Indy (and the inside road courses)? No real variety in ovals or any road courses? Seems kind of weird to get the NASCAR license and use only 2 ultra long similar tracks.

I like to think I have a good idea how a stock car drives. Other wise I couldn't make a comparison like that.

Since GT5 claims to be a simulator, then my context lies there. I have played may Nascar 'games'. The Ford GT in GT5P handles like a tight stock car. Also, loose off exit, since both cars have a lot of power. Its the best way I can describe a stock car on Nurburgring. ;)

But thanks for trying to pick apart my comparison.

iRacing also demonstrates how fun oval racing can be. Its a totally different animal than road course racing. For some reason I think its going to be toned down somewhat in GT5. Those cars need a lot of opposite lock and very precise pedal inputs that wouldn't work too well on a controller, which most people will be using.

Only thing similar is length. The tracks are totally different. A Daytona setup would suck majorly at Indy and vise versa.

That's what I mean. They didn't include any tight short tracks or road courses. Just 2 very long super tracks. No variety. I'm hoping for the ability to make ovals in the course maker.

I tried iracing. But it was too expensive for my taste. I drove the base model, and even a car that can't go 100 MPH was a 🤬 to drive. It was so, so so, hard. Even with a wheel. I want that kind of realism in my driving.

But I think you are right, they would most definitely tone it down. I hope it is not, and videos we have been seeing are standard physics. Pro physics should make it challenging, especially with a ill handling car.

There´s only one physics model in GT5.

We don´t know if it´s pro or a combination of pro + standard.

Really, check the latest videos. People are worried because there´s no more Standard AND Professional. It´s just one.

Im hoping that the track creator will be able to make ovals rather easily. Of course, we wont know until we get our hands on it.

Crap, I did not realize that. I hoped they would keep it separated. Pro for enthusiasts, and standard for normal folks.

It makes sense, really it does.

I guess I enjoy a good pissing match, as the next guy, but if you say I don't know what I am talking about, then please shed some light for all of us.

If RP driving experience has taught you anything, what does a stock car drive like on Nurburgring?

...oh right, you never driven one there...

...well then I guess all we can go on is speculation and personal experience...

..oh darn!

there's only one problem with this theory.

a ford GT DOES handle better than a stock car. the modern stock car is like a saw, it's large, powerful, and simple, while a modern hypercar is like a finely sharpened paring knife, it's precise, direct, finely tuned and complex. the GT, while not being the most exact of supercars, is still a supercar, built for the streets of LeMans, while a stock car is a bit of a boat, built for the high banks of daytona. I have never driven either car, but I'm fairly familiar with both of them and what makes them tick. there's no doubt in my mind that a stock car is faster than the GT, but that doesn't change the fact that the stock car requires more of a fight to drive than the GT.

They set the cars up with huge front springs, panhard bar all the way down on the mounts, and about 60% cross weight for those schools so you can't spin the thing out if you tried. They don't give a good feel for how they drive when on the limit with an actual competitive setup. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

What ever you say...everybody knows everything here..i wont say another word again on this site...

Oh come on dude its not about knowing everything....you really think the school is going to put you in a car that is going to be sideways going into the turns and the front suspension running on bump stops or actually coil binding the springs? No way in hell. Most people would back it into the fence in the first couple corners.

Its the same thing with the Indy car experience at Auto Club Speedway. There's soooo much wing angle that the car tops out at about 160, foot to the floor, and drives like your street car does going 60 mph on the freeway.

I have a lot of league experience from NASCAR 08 and 09, so I'd love to help out in any way possible.

May I suggest starting the league about a 3-4 weeks after GT5 releases? That gives everyone time to get the game and provides a window for some DLC to come out.
