^you assume I don't know even though I correctly stated the number of nascar sanctioned tracks that are in the game and that the cup series race at each year

You want a good NASCAR game? Then wait for NTG 2011. Honestly, if anyone was anticipating Gran Turismo 5 to be even more than dabbing some NASCAR into the game they were severely misguided as they would be if that's the reason why they refuse to buy the game. I'm a NASCAR fan and I'd buy this game even if they had no NASCAR in it.

(Sigh) Did you not see the part where I say "All I wanted was 16 cars and 3-4 tracks"?

How is 16 essentially identical cars and 3-4 NASCAR tracks asking for too much? I guess my idea of "dabbling" and your idea of "dabbling" are very different. "Dabbling" to me means at least giving us 16 different cars and perhaps 3-4 tracks. "Dabbling" shouldn't equal "incomplete". Also stop insulting my intelligence, I've known full well that this game was not a full-blown attempt at recreating NASCAR. I realized we would be getting slim content, but PD could have at least put some effort into making the NASCAR portion a worthwhile effort. I certainly don't think I was "misguided" in thinking that there would be 16 NASCAR cars in the game, even if some were fantasy cars meant to fill the field out. I still plan on buying this game and I'll likely be giddy as a school girl when I fire it up, but it is still severely disappointing to me that the one of the aspects of the game that I was looking forward to the most will be incomplete when it easily could have been so much more polished.

You got more than poor old F1.

There's 3 types of COT in the NASCAR lineup for GT5, but only 2 Official NASCAR Venues (barring Infineon which seems to be absent), for F1 you have the Formula GT, the F10 and the F2007, plus you have more official F1 venues, in Nurb, Suzuka, Fuji, Monza, Cote D'Azur...Thats a much more satisfying little F1 season than Indy and Daytona for NASCAR....

The NASCAR license deserved at least 2 more ovals (imo like Phoenix and Bristol to focus more on technique, control and tire\fuel conservation) and 2 road courses, like Infineon and Watkins...

This is why we have track editor to create some short tracks or super speedways 👍

+1, couldn't agree more.

And to marchi's point, you're right, the lack of ovals is no biggie since we at least have course maker
But with only 11 NASCAR drivers, we're left with an incomplete field.

Apparently, you think Nascar 2011 isn't a good game because the CG trailer looks bad and it only has 22 tracks (or at least thats the way I understand it whilst reading your post). I was just pointing out to you thats pretty much all the tracks from the schedule, no where am I "assuming" you don't know.

And I was pointing out that a game with such little content and the graphics that it hs is more than likely a rushed product so....probably not that good of a game.

Are you ignorant? NTG 2011 has all 22 NASCAR tracks and full 43 car fields. How is that a lack of content?

I wouldn't judge NTG by just a few screen shots and their first game trailer. Give it some time. They might actually do Nascar right. Unlike EA game, where we could count on year after year of disappointment. I can tell you now, any Nascar game not made by EA is bound to be better.

NASCAR runs on 22 tracks. The game will have 22 tracks. NASCAR has 43 car fields. The game will have 43 car fields. Please explain what content is missing.

So you are judging a game solely on a CG trailer and a few game screens instead of actual gameplay footage?

NASCAR cup races on 23 tracks now because they are going to Kentucky speedway next year. And nationwide and truck race more then 26.

I have played some games with some Nascar stuff in it and I have to say it kind of amuses me...
Sure many people will say ''another left turn'' especially when they watched Southpark lately (then the left turn gets a new meaning haha.. worth to watch!)
Futhermore, Nascar will be a real challenge for online play, because what I have seen of the A.I in the game it really reminds me of GT4 (only played that one)
But luckily their is enough to play with (offline and online aswell)

So I'm guessing all the track Jordan put on that list werenht ALL the tracks that are gonna be in the game? Same with the cars? I'm pretty sure there PD and Sony didn't reveal every track and car in the game. Just my opinion.

I haven't read the whole thread or even close, just want to check in here and show my support for NASCAR in GT5. I don't care how weird it sounds or what an arse it makes me, but NASCAR has been the single feature I've anticipated most in GT5. I hope for many hours of close 200mph online racing!

Jordan doesn't have the Joey Logano GameStop/GT5 car in the list.
It is a car you get for pre-ordering so does that count?
It should be included IMO.

The reason they don't include it, or an stealth car for that matter, is because they don't want people looking at the car list and thinking, hmm, I'd really like that stealth McLaren F1, and then buying the game only to figure out they needed to pre-order it through a specific retailer to get it.

Also, the official track list PD gave out is not complete. Not sure about the car list though.

It doesn't line up from what we have been hearing from Kaz for the last year. 26 locations....70ish configurations.

We can only hope that the track editor will allow us to create more oval tracks, and there will be download content with more ovals as well.

Pretty sure we will be able to make ovals with the track creator, even if they're not a "normal" oval. The video on the news page for it shows a fair bit of customization. Imagine an oval where its uphill one way, then downhill the other, or even if one straight was higher than the other, making one turn uphill and the other down. Its just a possibility, but it could be interesting no?

It would very interesting to have a downhill portion, and a up hill portion.

Imagine creating that paper-clip shaped track we all love. Or the fastest half-mile.

I think it might be interesting to have a figure 8 as a track.. lol...It would shut up the haters..."what? Nascar can turn left and right?"

Do we have the ability to share these tracks? It would make sense..

I like the idea of that one actually  . But I know next to nothing about NASCAR so I'm hoping GT5 along with you friendly Americans here on :gtplanet: can teach me more about them.

Question.. roughly what time would a NASCAR lap the 'Ring in?

Nürburgring? Think of a Stock car as a poor handling Ford GT-40, but with more power. Around 850 Hp to be exact. With a track like Nurburgring, it would be hard to get a 'neutral' handling stock car.

I see, they're meant for ovals :). On another note I'm glad they're all premiums. :)

Yes and no. Yes because most of the R&D goes into making the car faster on a oval (left turns). But technically speaking the car can be setup for left turns and right turns. In fact, the Cup series of Nascar visits 2 road courses, Walkins Glen & Sonoma (Infineon Raceway). And the 2nd tier series (Nationwide Series) visits, Montreal Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Road America, & Walkins Glen. In the past the Nationwide series has been to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

What I mean by its being hard to get a good neutral car is handling well on all sorts of corners. Its a struggle on any car, but in my experience, stock cars are very sensitive. Even the slightest change will offset hours of tuning and testing.

Tuning for Nurburgring is possible, and I look forward to seeing people running laps on that track.
