NASCAR in GT5!

I have a lot of league experience from NASCAR 08 and 09, so I'd love to help out in any way possible.

May I suggest starting the league about a 3-4 weeks after GT5 releases? That gives everyone time to get the game and provides a window for some DLC to come out.

We wanted to start it sooner than later for sure. I think 3-4 is good enough time to start, but where does that put us? Right in the middle of Christmas Vacation. I would prefer to wait until the 2nd week of January to start the qualifier.

I will have to talk to RACECAR, but I think we can start to practice, test the rules, and race lengths in 3-4 weeks. Maybe sooner.

But, I would love your help. After GT5 releases, I will be contacting you for sure. There is still much to be figured out.

Interesting.

I'm just wondering, if we can make oval tracks on track editor, then really there's no problem whatsoever.

Except the track editor has no elevation/banking change which was genious.....

Seriously, the NASCAR aspect went to waste when they included only two super-speedway. They needed something different like Pocono or something to balance it out.

Here is a graphical of how you will qualify for SCANA.

To the left is the time trial. Up to 64 drivers can make it into the 100 mile race. There can be an unlimited amount of people who can try to qualify into the 100 race. But only 64 will be chosen.

Once we get a thread opened, all of this information will be there and on the website.

It´s a shame. The tracks editor was a solution for the WRC mode, and it could be for Nascar if only they included a few simple options.

The ability to:

Change banking
Make ovals, tri-ovals
Chance pavement (concrete, asphalt)
Pre-set lenght with 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 miles

We could basically re-create the whole Sprint Cup with those simple options.

As for the rules, i really hope to see yellow flags after spins, crashes. I know it´s higly unlikely, but it won´t be a Nascar mode without it.

I would really love and make use of the day to night transition in Lowes Motor Speedway if it was in :(

Maybe DLC (either track itself, or ability to create in track maker)

Oh dear, whats the point of having NASCAR in the game if isnt done properly ?

For starters, it looks like PD dont know nothing about NASCAR, double file restart isnt done properly, looks like there won't be no official rules aswell.

Oh come on dude its not about knowing everything....you really think the school is going to put you in a car that is going to be sideways going into the turns and the front suspension running on bump stops or actually coil binding the springs? No way in hell. Most people would back it into the fence in the first couple corners.

Its the same thing with the Indy car experience at Auto Club Speedway. There's soooo much wing angle that the car tops out at about 160, foot to the floor, and drives like your street car does going 60 mph on the freeway.

I know that...i wasnt originally talking bout that any way..

A lot of people seem to think that nascar just run on ovals..and thats not true..all im saying is a stock car is a lot more versatile than people think.

There's also the lack of asymmetric tuning and a means to set up tire pressure and check tire temperatures, which most probably implies that NASCAR cars don't handle like they should, almost surely problematic asymmetric tire wear on ovals like in GT4 and that probably driving physics are not very detailed on that aspect, which is a shame.

I'm happy that PD even implemented nascar in GT5.

They implemented a couple of tracks and a few cars, a bit different than implementing Nascar.

The final test will be to drive on Daytona on the straight, and if you don´t have to steer right to keep the car in check, then we can safely say they trully messed up the Nascar side of the game.

@Akira

Yes, we´ve heard a lot about tire pressure and tire temperature... i thought it would play a major role on the game... it appears to be missing in the final build.

Anyone know if we can shift the weight like we could in 2008/9 in the NASCAR?

Im just thinking here, are the cars going to drift to the left on the straight-aways like they did in the mentioned games there?

I'm just happy there in the game. one of my first goals is going to be to purches a cup car and take it to the ring. I think a cup car on the ring would be awsome. I know some ones gonna say but they handel like crap. I know this, thats why there so fun. Seriously the rear suspension is I-beam truck arms with the rear end U-bolted on.... its amazing they do what they do.

Two interesting things I found:

1. Video of Jeff Gordon in the recording studio for the NASCAR portion of GT5:

http://espn.go.com/espn/thelife/vid...r/id/5812551/jeff-gordon-talks-gran-turismo-5

2. It appears one of the early leaked copies of GT5 has turned out to be not a complete retail version, but possibly a limited Review one. The user in question reports to having only been able to get up to %17 and then have the credits scrolling up. Perhaps some surprises await the NASCAR portion?

What exactly do you mean by this? I'm a bit confused.

Apparently, one person's copy of GT5 appears to be only a preview version and not a complete one. When the user that reported this reached %17, they apparently already completed it. So I say maybe this could be a surprise because instead of certain tracks not being thier, maybe they actually could be but haven't been specifically revealed.

Where at? Was this info?

But we got an official track and car list, showing 11 NASCAR cars and 2 tracks. They didn't base that off the retail version.

Looks like the video got pulled?

Was in a thread made by this guy. Also mentioned in the Discussion thread.

And based on the fact we pretty much saw all those in the beginner tracks video, are you really convinced thats it? I know its "official" but based on that video and the fact that a certain track revealed at Gamescom is missing and now the possibility that we could have been looking at videos from only preview copies, I'm not really convinced its final. Plus Kaz has a strange way of surprising us.

The official track list certainly does not match what we were told. Not to mention, (I know we all keep saying this, but...) DLC. We still got a good chance of getting more tracks for everyone. I think something doesn't add up for sure.

This video takes place at Texas Motor Speedway.

Which, also has road course inside the oval. You would think that a track that PD visited, and did this interview/video would be in the game.

You would think....:/

UFO at 1:58

I would be okay to toss out NASCAR as a whole just to have rims on standard cars. Nascar goes left!

Seriously? You'd dump a whole unique series simply for RIMS? You can hardly even see them when your driving! They look good and all but rims are such a non-issue compared to more pertinent issues such as the fact that only 11 NASCAR cars appear to be included in the game.
