John Lucas stepping up for an injured Derrick Rose tonight. He basically played all 48 minutes. Wow.

Tonight's NBA on TNT matches are East Meets West:

* New York Knicks at Memphis Grizzlies
* Orlando Magic at Golden State Warriors

And then, there are some other matches slated for tonight:

* Charlotte Bobcats at Atlanta Hawks
* Detroit Pistons at Milwaukee Bucks
* Cleveland Cavaliers at Phoenix Suns

Enjoy another NBA Thursday Ball Night!

The Rockets finally string together a winning streak. We won 103-89 at home against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, and then we won 107-105 in Overtime against Portland on Saturday night. I almost feel sorry the Rockets traded N. Batum a long time ago because he was great at blocking most of the shots the Rockets were attempting. Our next series is a back-to-back: at the Washington Wizards on Monday afternoon followed by a return to Houston to take on the Detroit Pistons Tuesday night.

[UPDATE] We're now 5-7 on the season after these two straight wins. If we win our next two games, we'll be 7-7. Whether or not we get to 8-7 (assming we beat WAS and DET) depends on if we can handle the New Orleans Hornets at home Thursday night.

Toronto have been bitten extremely hard by the injury bug and are now 4-9, I see no light at the end of this tunnel.

If the playoffs began tonight, these would be your playoff alignments:

! = division leader (at present)

--- EASTERN CONFERENCE (if began today) ---
* #1 Chicago! vs. #8 Cleveland
* #2 Philadelphia! vs. #7 New York
* #3 Orlando! vs. #6 Miami
* #4 Indiana vs. #5 Atlanta

--- WESTERN CONFERENCE (if the playoffs began today) ---
* #1 Oklahoma City! vs. #8 Dallas
* #2 Utah vs. #7 Portland
* #3 Los Angeles Lakers! vs. #6 Los Angeles Clippers
* #4 San Antonio! vs. #5 Denver

Imagine Lakers/Clippers as a playoff series! Our own Villain's head would spin as long as it's the Clippers who win the series. Hell, they could play that series in straight days since all the action would be at the Staples Center. That is, unless the Clippers want to play a couple of games at the Honda Center in Anaheim or something.

But that's if the playoffs began tonight. Enjoy NBA ball! My Rockets are off tonight... until the Hornets come to H-Town on Thursday night.

No way would we go to Anaheim! The Staples Center is red, white, and blue on the outside for a reason! :sly:

Tonight...

* ...my 7-7 Houston Rockets will host the 3-11 New Orleans Hornets.
* NBA on TNT: Lakers at Heat in Game 1, followed by Mavericks at Jazz in Game 2.

Thursday night is Ball Night. Enjoy!

Mr. Big Shot! How do you like Chauncey Billups winning the game against the defending champs? An exhausted team playing its third game in as many nights and the star point guard out with a hamstring injury.

Game winning 3-pt shot that hit the net with 0:01 left on the clock.

The Heat burned up the Lakers in Miami 98-87. LeBron James got 31 points. The Heat will stay in Florida, but play in another city tomorrow night- Heat at Magic tomorrow night.

My Rockets had a forgettable 4th Quarter, but ended up winning 90-88 in Overtime. We're over .500 for the first time this season (8-7) while the Hornets fall to 3-12. Kevin Martin had 32 points. We should have won by a larger margin, but a win is a win. One article here in Houston even said that we should give up on playoff hopes if we can't beat the Hornets a home. Good thing the Rockets woke up and took charge in Overtime.

Bulls at home against the Bobcats tonight. I'd sit Rose out another game, maybe the rest of the week. I dunno.

With the way they played against the Cavs without him, then why not sit him.

Exactly. This week is pretty easy and I'd rather have a Derrick Rose at 100% by the playoffs than a Derrick Rose who has some serious foot issues by the end of the regular season.

I do think you rest someone like D-Rose and let your other players step up in his place. Not like his loss would be like the losing Peyton Manning for the NFL's Indianapolis Colts. Bulls still have players like Luol Deng and others to pick up the slack.

Bulls just rolling along even without big contributors Taj Gibson, Joakim Noah, John Lucas, and Derrick Rose. Wow.

Ugh, just don't talk about the hornets, our record thus far is beyond redemption.

Look at the bright side, we have a better chance at getting Harrison Barnes, Austin Rivers, or Jared Sullinger. And we have the T-Wolves first round pick. So two potentially high lottery picks, along with Eric Gordon getting a possible extension and that's a team that four or five years from now could be in the playoffs.

The Hornets are NOT a sorry team. Even though they have Carl Landry (former Rocket), there's plenty of upside for the New Orleans Hornets. The Hornets play in the tough-as-nails Southwest Division as do the Grizzlies and all three Texas NBA teams. NOLA will get better. Maybe not right away, but I think they'll get better in due time.

My Rockets managed to tame the black and silver boys last night. We took down the Spurs 105-102 to improve to 9-7 on the season. Up next for us is a trip to Minneapolis on Monday night. Actually, the rest of the January 2012 schedule sort of favors us. After at Minnesota, we're home the rest of the month with teams like Milwaukee (Wed.), Washington (Fri.), New York (Sat.), and Minnesota (next Mon.) coming to Toyota Center. Still have to win those games to keep our record looking good.

True, but at the moment I think all we need is a solid PG, no disrespect to Jack though but we've filled up most of the other positions at the moment.

We handled the Minnesota Timberwolves 107-92 in Minneapolis earlier tonight. The Rockets are now 10-7 on a seven-game winning streak. Our last loss was 101-95 at San Antonio back on January 11th. Part of me says we're not that good and playing a softer part of the schedule. Another part of me says that we're actually winning games rather than find ways to fail. Either way, being 10-7 is a hell of a lot better than being 7-10. Our next game is Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks in Houston.

Elsewhere, I want to congratulate Rip Hamilton on picking up his 15,000th point of his career earlier tonight. Hope your team(s) is/are doing well.

:eek: Raptors ended their massive losing streak today with a win in Phoenix, behind 36pts from Bargnani. This is the first game all season with a 100% non-injured squad, hopefully they can keep it that way. Lopez got ejected from the game for purposely bumping in to a ref following a tech foul. Time to take on Utah tomorrow.
Unfortunately for me, the rain must be getting in to our internet lines and my interwebs can barely keep up on NBA TV at 400kbps, not amused.:grumpy:

For the first time in 12 years, the Milwaukee Bucks beat us here in Houston. And damn it... we deserved to lose the way we played all game long. It's f:censored:ed up how you let a losing team like the Bucks go up 12-0 on you early in the game. Credit the Bucks for winning, but we deserved to lose after we f:censored:ed up so badly. We host the Wizards on Friday night. And if tonight was any indication, we'll lose to the Wizards this bad, if not worse. Seven-game winning streak snapped with a 105-99 loss.

Did your team(s) f:censored: up too tonight?

[UPDATE] I forgot to mention that Andrew Bogut went down hard with an injury. Sad for him since it's Australia Day down in Australia. Still, no m:censored:f:censored:ing excuse to not show up against a team like the Bucks. NO F:censored:ING EXCUSE, DAMN IT!!!

NO! Not a Bogut injury, right before olympics.:banghead:

Edit: I see it's just a sprained ankle. *Wipes forehead* PHEW!:scared:

Our internet is so slow right now NBA is unwatchable, even on a quality level that you can't really see where the ball is.......

Ready for some NBA ball tonight? Those of you who watch NBA on TNT can check out these matches:

* Celtics at Magic
* Grizzlies at Clippers

These are the only two games tonight, so enjoy some NBA hoops tonight!

The Blazers beat the Suns by 38 points, which is Portland's largest victory over Phoenix of all time.

NO! Not a Bogut injury.

Little worse than first thought a fractured left ankle will keep him out of action for the next 8-12 weeks. Hopefully when he recovers from this he can stay injury free for the olympics.

Yeah I saw that, here's to hoping for the olympics. I wonder if Kyrie Irving will play for Australia or not.

How would Kyrie Irving be able to play for Australia, was he born here or something?

Yeah, his father was playing here in the NBL when he was born, so even though he moved back to USA at an extremely young age, he is still classed as an Australian citizen and has expressed interest in playing for the Australian national team.
