Howard probably isn't going anywhere. A tweet reported the Magic are suspending trade talks with Howard & focusing on a head coach. Then the GM tweets, that's not entirely accurate.

No one in Orlando seems to have any clue.

Who is running the team? Sounds like a bunch of clowns. This spells train-wreck written all over it. HE's GOING to leave Orlando next year and won't his price only go up to the other team but will force Orlando to have to settle for less?

I wouldn't worry about that. They may be focusing on the coach hunt, but I highly doubt that they are going to stop listening to offers. If anything, I'd say that's posturing. I still hope they get suckered into taking Bynum for Howard. :P

Edit: Looks like my boy (Jarrett)Jack's been traded to the Warriors. Good luck, Jack!

If he opts in & stays this season, he'll be getting max contract offers from teams, so his price won't really matter. And in the free agency, Orlando won't really have any control over what they get.

I don't think Dwight ever opted out, as he waived the opt-out smack in the middle of last season(the original Dwightmare lol), right before the trade deadline.

I hope his basketball I.Q. is higher than his real life I.Q., because off the court, Dwight seems to have a really small brain.

Edit: You guys should see what's going on the Blazers forum at the Oregonian(local paper). Fans are absolutely raving our new general manager Neil Olshey. Problem is, outside the draft, he's made three headlines:

1) Upon our headcoach search, he claimed that our interim coach from last year, Kaleb Canales is his favorite to be the permanent coach. Anybody else who wants the job must take it away from Canales, as he is the high standard Olshey has set at the position.

Problem: Canales, arguably is the greenest assistant coach, and might not even qualify at this position. It's like promoting the drive-thru person at McDonalds to the regional manager position. As you guys know, names like Stan & Jeff Van Gundy, Jerry Sloan, Phil Jackson is out there, and Canales is the high standard he'll be gauging by? "Retarded" doesn't begin to describe the claim.

2) All Blazer fans assumed that Nicolas Batum is a automatic resign. He is a restricted FA, but should be a easy keep. Today, we are getting our asses kicked by Minnesota, as they have sold the team to Nicolas, and his agent is damn near treating the Blazers front office like a little kid. Again, Nicolas is a restricted FA, but Minnesota & Nicolas' agent is beating the crap out of the Blazers.

3) We tried getting Indiana Pacers' restricted FA, Roy Hibbert. This was over as soon as it started. Blazers lose, the end. The first day.

I have absolutely nothing against this new GM, and am absolutely rooting for him 100%, but how is he kicking ass? I don't know if I'm crazy, or these Blazer fans have lower I.Q. than Dwight Howard. Outside the draft(which remains to be seen), our new GM is absolutely making ass of himself! If going around and getting his butt kicked by everyone was the sport, well, it's not.

You were also reported to be interested in Brook Lopez. That didn't go anywhere either did it?

That one is news to me. I'm not a fan, but we could have certainly done worse.

Well you re-signed Hickson! (note I didn't use the popular "resign" [which is a Freudian slip.])

Oh, you are right.

Hickson is an interesting player, but I place a lot of question marks on him. I know he played well for the Blazers(though I didn't watch any of those games), but why are other teams in such a hurry to let him loose? That's usually a sort of sign in this league. Sometimes, wrong place at the wrong time, but often, there is a valid reason for players not being able to stay in one place. Sac-Town, they didn't even try trading him, and released him outright!

P.S. I didn't watch the Blazers most of last season, because our players tanked the first half of the season in protest of the headcoach McMillan. Then the organization tanked the rest of the season to get in the lottery. Very reason why the greenest assistant coach was put in the head coaching position. Losers!

Dallas is slowly redeeming itself after amnestying Haywood for Kaman, & trading Mahinmi for Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones from Indy in a S&T.

It's going to be a rough season, but Cuban & Nelson are still in the pursuit for D12 (who has said Dallas & the Nets were the only 2 teams he would sign long trade with) by cutting the budget for the next season. Plus, we have no state income tax, so our max contract offer to him should look very promising. Still hope that the Clippers will disappoint CP3 & he will once again look to unite with Dwight.

Dwight in Dallas could work. Dominant center + solid ball-movement + outside shooting has equaled Championships in the past. I was hoping for Dwight to LAL, but if the Mavs could pull that off, I'm all for that!

Lol, yeah right not anymore. Can't afford him. I would have called it though. You know Pat Riley is a super hard pimp.

No lies I could see D12 going to the Heat. While it may not be logistical I could see it happen.
Not a chance with Dwight's ego. He doesn't want to go to Houston because he doesn't want to follow in Hakeem's footsteps, and he doesn't particularly want to go to LAL because he doesn't want to play 2nd man to Kobe.

So, besides the salary cap, there's not a chance he wants to play 5th wheel to Wade, Bosh, James, and now Ray Ray. He wants to lead a team to a championship & become the face of it, which is something he could have gotten with the Nets, and something he could do with Dallas as Dirk enters his twilight years.

I read that as well, what the heck does NOLA get from this trade?

They got Euro centre Edin Bavcic who hasn't yet played in the NBA despite being drafted in 2006 by the 76'ers and some valuable cap space.

So we just got a Euro stash away player, beautiful

Yeah and he's the first player ever I've not been able to find recent highlights of on YouTube, so good luck with that. Nah I don't know, maybe he's not that bad.

This Restricted FA battle over Nicolas Batum, between the Blazers & Minnesota is getting out of hand. Before today, Batum said that he wants to end up in Minnesota. Minnesota threatened to offer high $$$ to Batum, if the Blazers don't just waive Nicolas, or trade him to Minnesota in a sign-and-trade. Batum's agent refuses discussion with the Blazers, which is just ridiculous, but what do you expect from Bourna Ndiaye...... exactly. Nobody's ever heard of this no-name agent.

I guess today, Minnesota owner announced that T-Wolves & Batum will sign the long awaited offer sheet. They've held off, because: 1) Minnesota doesn't have the room in the cap to offer the $$$, unless they waive a player or two or three, first. 2) As soon as they sign this thing, Blazers said that they will match it.

Well, I guess they stated that offer sheet will be a done deal by end of business, today. They reneged.

This is as weird as the Dwightmare. Bunch of princesses who can't make up their little mind, going back & forth until they get their way. NBA is getting pretty weird. I don't remember stuff like this going on when I was younger. At least not this frequently. Batum is a restricted FA. You couldn't get him? Boo-hoo, pay up(trade adequate assets), or move on! You see teams get screwed all the time(Lakers-Chris Paul last year?), but you don't see them making a scene.

Crikey! Houston have pulled the old amnesty on Luis Scola in a bid to get Dwight Idiotaward, a massive all or nothing stab in the dark. That also means Luis Scola is free for the taking for anyone.💡
I also read the Raptors have openly admitted Calderon is disgruntled they acquired Lowry and he won't be the starting PG any more, and he wants out. That'd be a shame, we only have two point guards, so unless we get one in return for Calderon, it's a damn shame.

You do not remember stuff like this going on because there was not much news coverage of it. With the 24 hour news cycle, every little detail, whether said details actually means anything, is "reported".

When a player is amnestied, there is a slightly different process than free agency. Amnestied players go through a bid process before becoming a free agent. Since Scola is a pretty good player, he is likely to be claimed through that.

I'm sure I'd need that process explained to me, but does it mean the Rockets can claim him back if it falls through?

Edit: Oh and it turns out Toronto still has Uzoh, who isn't as good as Calderon or Bayless who is now in Memphis.

I believe the Rockets would be free to sign Luis Scola if he made it through the bidding process without being claimed, as at that point he would become an unrestricted free agent. I read an article that Dallas is very interested in trying to win the bid on Scola if they do not win the one on Elton Brand.

The only good thing I can see happening with Dwight going to Houston is leaving a good impression of Texas on him, so Dallas can sign him the next year. :sly:

Dwight to Boston!
Probably one of the most unlikely deals to occur. :P

Edit* Cuban picks up Elton Brand for the Mavs for $2.1 million, which still leaves us with cap space for next year. Possibly going to bid for Scola next.

Dwight for O' Neal and 100 first round picks?
What?

BTW John, your Rockets are putting themselves in a huge, potential upset.
