How about a little playoff chatter? So who's in the playoffs, and who needs to make their move NOW while there's still time? Let's count them all (source: Yahoo! Sports):

Enjoy some NBA hoops tonight.

The Raptors are really sucking lately, they made complete fools of themselves today against Milwaukee.

We hammered Portland on Friday night at Portland, but then got hammered at Denver last night. The Rockets have poor records against current Western Conference playoff teams. This season's team may not go too far if they continue to fail like this.

The Eastern Conference looks to be all set for the playoffs. And yes- Boston made it in. So the West is still mostly to be decided from Golden State on down.

Special congratulations to [former Rockets coach] Rick Adelman in his 1000th win as a coach last night. And just now, congratulations to the L.A. Clippers on winning the Pacific Division... not to mention sweeping the Lakers for the first time ever in a season.

We won 101-98 over Phoenix! However, how we did it is most unusual. Let me try to explain.

It was a 98-96 game as we trailed Phoenix late. The Rockets tied it up at 98 with less than 30 seconds left in the game. PHX misses in their possesion, so HOU gets it back. Now, the insane part. James Harden tries to win the game with a buzzer-beating three-pointer... when PHX's Jermaine O' Neal is called for interference on the Harden shot! There was a review on the shot that was changed to a 2-point shot. Then, it was changed to a 3-pointer. So in a WEIRD way, we won!

The news got better for Rockets fans as Utah lost at home to Oklahoma City. We needed to beat Phoenix at home and for Utah to lose to clinch a playoff berth. Utah lost 90-80 hosting Oklahoma City.

We're in the playoffs! It is Houston's first playoff berth since 2009(?).

Hey, Mike, Catch! --Oh, you're covering Mike Miller now? Guess I'll do this instead...

We're in the 2012-2013 playoffs, but some negative momentum was force-fed to us as we lost 82-78 hosting the Memphis Grizzlies. There are still about three games left on our schedule. The final regular season home game for my Rockets is this Sunday Night. I think we're hosting Sacramento that night. I have to check the schedule.

Back to back wins against the Bulls for the Raptors, thing almost got a little out of hand when Rip Hamilton threw an elbow in the face of DeRozan for playing good hard defence, Hamilton was ejected from the game immediately for his troubles, flagrant 2. A shame our rookies Ross and Valanciunas have injured themselves and couldn't play, but Quincy Acy the 2nd round pick is doing a stellar job with the minutes he's getting.

Kobe Bryant ruptured his Achilles tendon last night. He's done for this season- scheduled to be about 6-9 months. He went in today for surgery. While I am usually sick of the Lakers, I certainly wish Kobe Bryant the best in his recovery.

Enjoy some NBA hoops on this final regular season weekend of the 2012-2013 season.

Our final regular season match at home was tonight. We won 121-99 hosting the Sacramento Kings. Up next is a trip to the non-playoff Phoenix Suns tomorrow night. After that, it's a trip to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers to close out the regular season. The Rockets' home record will be 29-12 to close out this regular season. The win ties us with the Golden State Warriors right now for the 6th playoff spot. We own the tie-breaker over GS should there be one at season's end.

It was a failing effort for my Rockets as we failed at Phoenix. The fail saw us lose 119-112. We need to beat the Lakers on Wednesday in Los Angeles and on ESPN (somethibg tells me we will lose anyways with THIS much pressure) to avoid being an 8th seed. A Rockets win ensures us to be a 6th or 7th seed. Where we end up if HOU wins depends on if Golden State wins their Wednesday game. But if we lose at LAL, whatever GS does will be inconsequential. So here it is:

* HOU win + GS win = 6th seed for HOU
* HOU win + GS loss = 7th seed for HOU
* HOU loss = 8th seed for HOU

That's all. Have a good one.

The 2012-2013 NBA Playoffs begin this Saturday. All 30 NBA teams had an equal chance to make it to the playoffs. A total of 82 games were played by all the teams. Players were injured or traded. Teams and players got hot. Teams and players got cold. Little by little, those 30 teams were whittled down to a certain 55% that were better than all the rest. Among the 30, only 16 of the better teams- 8 from both conferences- have proven themselves (or just snuck in) to be the best of the 30. Now begins the long grind to determine who the champions of the 2012-2013 season are. Now begins a time where "good enough" isn't enough to win. You got to be GREAT. Now begins a time where play- even including the occasional hard fouls- will be intensified. It's NBA Playoff basketball, baby!

The season's 16 best will be chopped down to the best eight teams. The eight survivors will then go down to four. The four best will then become the two best. And finally, those two best will draw one champion. Congratulations to all of the playoff contenders; better luck next season for those who did not advance. Here are your matches:

--- EASTERN CONFERENCE ---
#1 Miami Heat vs. #8 Milwaukee Bucks
#2 New York Knicks vs. #7 Boston Celtics
#3 Indiana Pacers vs. #6 Atlanta Hawks
#4 Brooklyn Nets vs. #5 Chicago Bulls

--- WESTERN CONFERENCE ---
#1 Oklahoma City vs. #8 Houston Rockets
#2 San Antonio Spurs vs. #7 Los Angeles Lakers
#3 Denver Nuggets vs. #6 Golden State Warriors
#4 Los Angeles Clippers vs. #5 Memphis Grizzlies

All games will start off at the higher-seeded teams. So now that we know the playoff alignments, it's time to speculate before the games actually begin. Questions to ponder and answer:

* Who will advance from the 1st Round?
* What higher seeds are most likely to fall?
* What teams (from both conferences) could be sleepers, and could any of those sleepers possibly make the NBA Finals or even win it all?
* What player(s) will be the biggest difference maker or have MVP-quality performances in the playoffs?
* (any other relevant question regarding this season's playoffs)?

Well... it's time to speculate. Have at it, GTPlanet.

Good luck to all 16 teams in their quest to hoist up the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy and earn the title of NBA Champions.

Just about the only sure things this year in the first round are probably Miami, Indiana, San Antonio and OKC. I think the others could all go either way.

My Bulls are effed. Hurt seeing Noah hobble up and down the court. That said, I don't expect the Bulls to lay down and die either without taking a few Nets down with them.

I'm quite a skeptic on the Nets, but man, the health situation alone damn near takes the Bulls out of the series.

The game isn't over yet, but it looks like all home teams will win the Game 1 matches. My Rockets are basically conceding to OKC. We're trailing 102-71 with 8:24 left in the game.

We're going to lose. I won't even bother giving a final score for this game.

I'm a bit sad because when I saw Harden pushing the score back to a tie, I thought Houston would rally & start coming back strong. But, after the half, they've given up.

I think this came down to Lin & a couple other guys not stepping up or just having a off night.

And Manu & Duncan today. Damn. Timmy went off after he didn't get that foul called.

Loved seeing Manu on Sunday! Classic. 👍👍

Looks like the Bulls won tonight, eh? Go Bulls!
