I think Omer Asik is going to be unloaded from the Rockets regardless. Somebody's going to pick him up. Omnis talked about perhaps not minding if Asik rocks Heat colors. Asik is going to be on the market regardless. That is, unless the Rockets want to continue to grasp onto him with a Kung Fu grip or like a kid clutching onto his/her favorite stuffed animal while sleeping.

The Pistons today went for a sign and trade with the Bucks. Pistons get Brandon Jennings, Bucks get Brandon Knight and two sophomore players who barely saw any playing time last season. I suppose if the Pistons didn't have confidence in Knight's ability to play the Point then it's not a terrible move, Detroit will be a wierd and interesting team to watch next season.
The Toronto Raptors today reportedly signed Austin Daye to a 2yr $2mil deal. Another wing who can shoot 3's, not sure if we really needed one but what ever.

Oh my gosh I can just feel the painful vibes of Jennings and Smith just chucking up bricks

Unless J-Smoove gets a proper jumper down to be able to play at SF without clogging the paint then Pistons fans might have a tough time this season unless they make the playoffs.

Everybody said Jennings needed a change of scenery, but I don't think going from one small town to another isn't really gonna motivate him.

They're certainly built oddly, but at the same time good luck scoring in the paint against them! Like I said they'll be an interesting experiment to watch.

Wait, so is there anyone remotely good left on the Bucks? They should seriously consider selling the franchise to Seattle; been a few reports over the past couple years about how hard the arena sells out unless it's a team like the Lakers or Heat in town, or if they're in the Playoffs.

Seattle's fans are so desperate to have the Sonics back, I guarantee someone there would complete rejuvenate the team.

One Rocket thought it was okay to be a bonehead. Terrence Jones was arrested in Portland, OR for stomping on a homeless man. The Rockets haven't commented on the whole deal, but I'm pretty sure T. Jones may have just sealed his fate with the Rockets. Stay classy.

Any reason given, or is it safe to assume he was drunk (as that appears to be the popular excuse for why sports figures get in trouble)?

They have some remotely good players in Knight, Mayo and Sanders but definitely no franchise players.

I'm not taking sides, but hobos in Portland has horrible reputation for harassing people on streets, often panhandling aggressively to a point of terrorizing some.

I'm not saying that's what happened, but if it did, I'd be totally down with somebody kicking the crap out of them until they learn some manners.

According to the officer, the homeless man was asleep & Jones started it by shouting at him.
On Wednesday July 31, 2013, at 2:04 a.m., Central Precinct officers arrested 21-year-old Terrence Alexander Jones in Old Town after Jones was seen stomping on a sleeping homeless man's leg. After the arrest, officers learned that Jones is currently on the roster of the Houston Rockets NBA team.
A sergeant patrolling the area saw a large group of people exit the Tube nightclub, located at 18 Northwest 3rd Avenue, and spill out into the street and sidewalk. An officer patrolling the area used a PA system to tell the crowd to get out of the street and get back onto the sidewalk. The sergeant pulled around the block to assist in case there was any further crowd issue.

While watching the group walk away from the bar, the sergeant observed a man, later identified as Terrence Jones, walk by a doorway where two homeless men were sleeping. Jones yelled, "Wake up," then raised his leg and stomped down on one of the mens legs. The men were sleeping in the doorway of 114 Northwest 3rd Avenue.

Officers contacted Jones among the group of approximately eight people about a half a block away and took him into custody.

The victim, 46-year-old Daniel John Kellerher, received a minor leg injury and did not require immediate medical attention.

Jones was transported to Central Precinct then to the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Harassment.
What an ass.

Maybe the homeless guy was blocking the door? Just kidding, I'll go by the officer's account of the events.

The report against T. Jones is that he stomped on the leg of a homeless person in Portland. I don't know all the specifics, but it seemed more like some sort of irritation with the homeless person Jones had that led him to act out in this manner. It's still Bush League of him. We don't need players making my Rockets look bad.

According to Bleacher Report, there was a rumor that Chris Paul threatened to sign with the Rockets during the offseason. Here's the piece: http://basketball.realgm.com/wireta...gn-With-Rockets-After-Rivers-Talks-Broke-Down . I'd have to imagine what a starting lineup featuring CP3 and D12 (Dwight Howard, of course) for the Rockets would be like. The key word for this story is "rumor."

Where would the cap space be to sign both of them? Moving Asik would be an easy task but I don't exactly see any takers for Lin's contract.

Darn it, how much longer is Oden going to hold out on signing?! I've been waiting all week after the earlier news he'd sign with a team this week, checking Bleacher Report constantly. I'm glad he's narrowed it to between the Hornets and Heat according to reports, the Hornets will be a fun team to watch with or without him this season.

Boy, like million Oden/injury jokes pops up in my head after reading that.....

Pelicans, you mean? There isn't a team named the Hornets anymore. :P (for this year at least)

Apparently we won't have to wait much longer.

Edit: Pelicans uniforms.

Oh........yeah.:dunce::lol:

Bleacher Report and their "grades", you know the Raptors just made their top 10 worst starting 5's in the NBA and the Hawks did not? I'm sure there will be 10 worse teams than the Raptors this year. (The Pelicans' jerseys are kind of bland though-no matter because the players aren't.)

Edit: New Raptors owner Tim Leiweke said the Toronto jersey would be changed for this season too, I wonder when that will be unveiled or if the idea was canned.

That's a good point about the Hawks actually.

Come to think of it, who would be starting for the Hawks anyway? I can only name two players. Horford and Millsap.

Pretty disappointed with the jerseys too, considering how cool the Pelicans logo and colours are. Expected a lot more from them.

As long as the Pelicans don't have those horrid Mardi Gras uniforms (even if indigenous to New Orleans), I'm okay. But I do find the uniforms disappointing. Even somebody like myself can find beauty in simplicity, but I'm not really digging these uniforms. I'm sure regardless of how the uniforms look, they'll still be a pretty competitive team playing in the brutally tough Southwest Division and the vicious battleground known as the Western Conference.

I was hoping to see some red in the jerseys, given how much it was in the logos.
Hopefully the new suns jersey's won't be so bland.

The whole NBA TV Top Games of 2012-2013 had Game 6 of the NBA Finals (Spurs at Heat) as the best game of this past season. I agree- that was a great game... not so much if you're a Spurs fan. The 2nd best game in that list was the March 6, 2013 game with the Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans. That game was key for LAL to gain some ground in the Western Conference standings since Utah lost that night.

I do sort of agree with wanting to see some red in the Pelicans (or just the 'Cans) uniforms. I wouldn't count out seeing some sort of alternative uniform featuring some red.

The main reason he signed was because "he wouldn't be needed right away"
Trying to preserve his knees for the post season

Good thing he's with the Heat, I imagine he'll need lots of deep heat to rub in his knees. Jokes aside, it was really the best choice for both parties. The question is, if he gets good again and appears to be remaining healthy, do you dare give him more minutes?

Depends on how he feels with it, he could be a starter but yet only play about 25-30 mins a game.
