Dwight Howard went down with an injury... and so went the Rockets' chances of trying to beat the Detroit Pistons. Our three-game home stand begins with a 123-114 loss at home to the Detroit Pistons. This, despite James Harden getting himself a triple-double (33 pts., 17 rebounds, 14 assists). Up next is the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday followed by Dallas on Sunday afternoon. The Dallas game on Sunday is part of a back-to-back for the Rockets.

Congratulations to all other winners from Wednesday, including Golden State blowing away the Chicago Bulls in the Windy City.

This Saturday will be the first of the NBA Primetime games on the ESPN/ABC networks. This Thursday, however, is a five-game night of NBA action. Got plans? Here's how your Thursday night looks:

* LAC Clippers at CLE Cavaliers (NBA on TNT)
* DET Pistons at NO Pelicans
* MEM Grizzlies at DEN Nuggets
* ATL Hawks at SAC Kings
* SA Spurs at PHX Suns (NBA on TNT)

If you want a look at standings so far, here's a link for you. See where your team currently stands: http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/standings .

Otherwise, enjoy this Thursday night of NBA basketball. Go enjoy some hoops tonight.

THIS JUST IN...

David Blatt (head coach) has been fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Tyronn Lue has signed a multi-year deal to be the new coach of the Cavs. I learned of this while watching FOX Sports 1 and seeing a Breaking News update. Good luck to Cleveland moving forward.

Enjoy tonight's games.

Lowry was voted an All-Star starter, good on him. But I still want to see DeRozan get in, he's been phenomenal.

Very surprising news to me, especially the timing.

Unless you're a Raptors fan, today is the 10th anniversary of Kobe Bryant dropping 81 points on the Toronto Raptors. Now on to the whole Cleveland Cavaliers deal.

My only real reaction to this story is that Blatt probably did something really bad to get himself fired rather than poor performance as coach. I doubt one's performance would not be enough to get fired if you're ahead in your Division or anything. They say "if it isn't broke, don't fix it." The timing just seems incredibly off.

The scrappy Milwaukee Bucks came down to H-Town to take on my Rockets. The final scoreboard read 102-98 in favor of my Rockets. We won behind James Harden's 30 points. Recently-traded Josh Smith (from the LA Clippers) played only 21 minutes and got two points. He did, however, pick up 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both Monroe and Middleton had 21 points each for the Bucks. Our next game is part of a back-to-back: vs. Dallas on Sunday afternoon followed by at New Orleans Monday night. This back-to-back is crucial since it both are Division games (Southwest Conference for us, of course).

Yikes... I looked ahead, and the next opponents after New Orleans: at San Antonio on Wednesday next week and then a back-to-back of at Oklahoma City next Friday and home against the Washington Wizards next Saturday. Next week could be a bumpy ride for Red Nation, as if most of this season hasn't been already...

Congratulations to Friday's other winners.

The Cavs FO are a bunch of **** heads. Blatt got a raw deal and he's still one of the better coaches in the league. I think he should go coach Philly next year after they clean house. They have the personnel to run his scheme. Should give Okafor tons of space to work.

Tonight is the debut of Saturday Night NBA action with the Chicago Bulls at the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is to be the marquee game for ABC tonight. Maybe the NBA wants to make Saturday Night more like Thursday Night for the NFL.

Anyhow, enjoy some NBA basketball tonight.

I don't think Blatt will return to the NBA for a while, and with Philly having Jerry Colengelo and Mike D'Antoni, I think they're to stuck on trying to recreate 7 Seconds Or Less East.

Also, I read a story on how the Cavs never really listen or respected David Blatt, due to how afraid he never disciplined LeBron and basically played favorites. Also, according to Brendan Haywood, when he was with the Cavs, Tyronn Lue was basically doing all the work anyways, calling timeouts and making plays and all that. Sad, really, Blatt was good, just there's too much pressure involved when LeBron suddenly came.

Nah. Blatt knew he was going to be sacked this season, regardless of what he did.

Bleacher Report
Before David Blatt ever conducted his first training camp practice in September 2014, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James and his agent, Rich Paul, had the coach's succession plan in place: Mark Jackson.

To become the preferred candidate of the most powerful player in the NBA – and de facto Cavaliers general manager – Jackson understood what he needed to do: Bring on James' and Paul's Klutch Sports agency as his representation, and prepare to deliver those commission fees into the King's coffers. Blatt never had a chance. He never knew what hit him.

This move at this time, right before the all-star break, is a real chicken **** move by the FO who is trying to appease "King" James.

So how is the Lue regime doing in Cleveland after just one game? The Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the visiting Chicago Bulls 96-83. Yeah. So far, so bad. It's just one game, but you just hope this doesn't become a case of losing with regularity, especially if you are a Cavs fan.

Back on Sunday afternoon, it was the Houston Rockets hosting the Dallas Mavericks on the front end of a back-to-back. Houston won 115-104 behind a triple-double from James Harden (23 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists). The back end of our back-to-back takes them to New Orleans to take on 'dem Pelicans.

Congratulations to Sunday's other winners, including the Toronto Raptors clipping the visiting Los Angeles Clippers badly.

[UPDATE] spelling error ("...Sunday afternoon, it was the Houston...")

Lebron was there before Blatt was hired. The Cavs should just go ahead and make Lebron the coach. That's what he is in Cleveland-- the Head. He did well in Miami because he played under a canopy of greatness with our coaches and front office. Pat Riley's legend is bigger than Lebron's. Dwyane already had a ring. Lebron didn't have to make up the entire body and personality of the ball club.

Raptors are on fire with 8 straight now, this is shaping up to become the best season in franchise history, maybe soon we'll stop being the only team without a 50-win season.

Dem' Houston Rockets took a trip out east to New Orleans to meet 'dem Pelicans. In "Nawlins," the Rockets won 112-111 at the Pelicans. James Harden was doin' work- 35 points and 11 rebounds in his double-double effort. Trevor Ariza accounted for 31 Rockets points on tonight. So the Rockets won both ends of this back-to-back.

To everyone else who won this Monday night, congratulations!

So, it was announced tonight that Cleveland's new coach, Tyronn Lue will be the head coach for the East All-Stars after 3 games in. That's a disgrace to the Eastern teams, esp. @Paulie's Dwane Casey.

While I have nothing against Pop coaching the west, imo, by such logic from the NBA, Luke Walton should be the Western Coach. If Lue can make it after spending half the season in Blatt's shadow, then Walton can coach since he's been the head coach for most of the season for the Warriors.

Meanwhile, and to the surprise of absolutely nobody... my Rockets get whacked about three hours west of Houston, losing 130-99 at the San Antonio Spurs. Both LaMarcus Aldridge and Boban Marjanovic had double-doubles (25 pts., 10 reb. for Aldridge; 13 pts., 10 reb. for Boban) for the Spurs. James Harden for the Rockets had 20 points.

Are you ready for these six games tonight?

* DEN Nuggets at WAS Wizards
* ATL Hawks at IND Pacers
* SAC Kings at NO Pelicans
* NY Knicks at TOR Raptors (NBA on TNT)
* MIL Bucks at MEM Grizzlies
* CHI Bulls at LAL Lakers (NBA on TNT)

Enjoy this Thursday Night of NBA action, folks.

It's a sham I tells ya! I was very unhappy when I heard that, what a total joke.
In other news, the Raptors' win streak extended to 10 today over the hobbled Knicks (no Melo, Porzingis or Calderon). Our all-star backcourt had 26pts a piece, Lowry also dished 10 dimes.

The Rockets played with some Thunder on Friday night and end up getting thunderstruck. The latest Rockets fail was a 116-108 loss at the OKC Thunder. Both James Harden and Kevin Durant scored 33 points for their respective teams. However, Durant also had himself 12 rebounds to record a double-double. Also on the double-double wagon for OKC was Enis Kanter's 22 points and 10 rebounds. A triple-double was racked up by Russell Westbrook with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists. All congrats to the Thunder.

Congratulations also to everyone else who won on Friday.

High-scoring action here in Houston, but the Rockets failed again. Our f:censored: up streak is now at four straight losses after losing 123-122 to the Washington Wizards. The Rockets are probably okay with missing the playoffs if this s:censored:ty continues. Bad enough, Dwight Howard was ejected on Technical Fouls late in the game. Everything is okay for now playoffs-wise. However, that won't last very long if we keep losing.

Congratulations to all other Saturday winners, including a win for the Cleveland Cavaliers cruising to a win at home against San Antonio.

In case you haven't heard, the Suns have fired Jeff Hornacek and this season still manages to find ways to crash and burn beyond both your star players and every PG becoming injured for the season

Raptors' 11 game win streak was ended by Denver. They're still 5 games clear of Miami in 3rd though, they really need to get 2nd to avoid Cleveland for as long as possible to hopefully make a deep playoff push.

Dwight Howard had to sit out of tonight's game vs. the Miami Heat to serve a one-game suspension. Didn't need him because we still won 115-102 tonight here in Houston. We avoided going below .500 (25-25 on the season heading into this game) thanks to a double-double of 26 points and 14 assists by James Harden. Amar'e Stoudemire had himself a double-double for the Miami Heat with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Luol Deng led Heat scorers with 17 points.

On this five-game Tuesday night, congratulations to every other winner, including Paulie's Toronto Raptors bouncing back with a win... sadly at the expense of DCybertron's Phoenix Suns in Phoenix.

So apparently Manu Ginobili is out at least a month after having....

testicular surgery. You read that right. I don't know what happened and don't want to know, but as much as I hate him I just can't help but feel bad for him.

The Houston Rockets have themselves another win! This time, a 111-105 win for the Rockets at DCybertron's Phoenix Suns. James Harden played his college ball at Arizona State. So for this Sun Devil to return to his state, he only accounted for 17 of the Rockets' points. The big point scorer for Houston on this night was Corey Brewer with his 24 points. Unfortunately, Terrence Jones wasn't in the lineup because he was involved in a car crash recently. He should be okay. Just not sure when we'll get him back. Archie Goodwin accounted for the most Suns points with 22. Alex Len got a double-double for Phoenix with 12 points and 18 rebounds.

Congratulations to the other winners from Thursday.

We got run over earlier this evening by Portland. Like, 96-79 run over at home here in Houston. I didn't follow this game much at all. I did hear we were down by as many as 32 to the visiting Portland Trail Blazers. The news gets better. Who's our next opponent? At the Golden State Warriors this Tuesday! I can already sense the back-to-back losses. Yay, freaking us...

If your team didn't fail today/tonight, congratulations.
