, best thing I've seen this month. Soooo many wrong people on the internet.:P

I'm sorry to say but you're in the minority. Not many people have the attention span to even muster through a 15 minute of non-stop racing. There's plenty of sim out there that would fit your need (rfactor, most SImbin titles) that it's somewhat unfair to expect an arcade racer like SHIFT to emulate and while SHIFT is different from the past NFS game- and like everything else, you need to put things in perspective- I don't think it was ever the intention of either EA or SMS to develop a full out sim. Both Patrick Soderlund and Ian Bell admit that SHIFT is neither Forza nor is it Gran Turismo and the main aspect of the game is the authentic driver's experience (another way of saying that it has nice cockpit and great effect to simulate the experience of driving a race car).

I know, it's just a bit frustrating to have developers raving on about the "best experience since sliced bread" and still come up short in many aspects.

Being a hardcore simracer has it's drawbacks. :dunce:

I really enjoyed the NFS:Prostreet when we raced in a LAN-enviroment. Besides that it's collecting dust in a corner.

Does anyone know if this game will fully support the g25 wheel - like gt5 prologue. i'm also interested in weather you get pit stops, tyre wear and dynamic weather changes. inclusion of these will make the game irresistable.

thanks Gabkicks. i'm sure it will still be good without the tyre wear, pit stops and stuff but i really had my fingers crossed. what the hell. i hope they will include this in GT5

The new graphic engine looks stunning: do you think we will see details like flat tires in a future title?
IB: Thank you, we're very proud of the look, the team has done a tremendous job with the visuals in SHIFT. To answer your question, you will see flat tires with performance in SHIFT damage on. You will see the tire's sidewalls flex and bend under load. It's something we've wanted for a long time and we're excited to bring it to you now.
So let me get this straight ... you can get a flat tire ... but you can't pit to fix it?

Probably along the same lines that you can almost completely destroy the engine, but never be out of the race.

But again, pit stops were originally in, so I'm def. trying to find at what point they were removed.

If they were originally in then the tracks would have non functioning pits which would be very weird for a full release.

Can someone please explain why suddenly pitstops are so important for this game? I sure as hell never read where it says they will have pitstops. Besides, I've had plenty of racing games without pitstops so its no big deal, at least to me it isn't.

Hey guys, new vid posted here (in french)

http://www.jeuxvideo.tv/video/need-for-speed-shift.html#commentaire

You won't learn anything new BUT Kévin, redactor / moderator of the site told us in the comments that he discussed with the devs and he was told that they "were currently working on trying to feature more or less changing weather effects in the game"... Sounds promising, I really hope they will be able to include it in the game ;)

Ferrari? G25 support confirmed! That was a great vid.

Thanks for the "french" vid, nice to see them take the media to a real track, like they did in sweden and have some proper "steering wheel set-ups" 👍

Oh and for the lazy people, came across a video on youtube from someone with to much spare time ;)

Some cars are wrong on the vid... the S4 is a S6, the BMW M3 E36 is an E46, the SRT10 is an ACR... and few others

Well, you can damage your tires, engine, body, etc... Though, there is no way to fix any of these things (as in a real race). So, you're race is essentially over when ANYTHING goes wrong.

Just seems like an odd choice considering every other current sim includes pit stops and tire wear.

It will be interesting to see if there is any strategy at all in NFS SHIFT. From what I've seen it's hard to imagine, other than the strategy of staying in front of the other cars...

The physics are probably going to be incredible (they better be, the way they hyped them), which will make this a great/decent "driving simulator". It will never be a "racing simulator" unless they add the aforementioned features later in a patch/DLC.

EDIT: Nice track list! Finally EBISU!

;)

67 cars? I'm sure I heard one of the developers say there would be 80 or so at E3.

Well - if they can get done in months what Gran Turismo gets done in years.. I'll be impressed. lol

They've been working on NFS Shift since pro street.... I'd like to assume that they're just moddleing new tracks, cars, and fine tuning the game engine...PD are just too picky.

Not since Pro street, since Blimey!Games (now Slightly Mad Studios) finished their work on GTR2 (september 06) for SimBin. Game engine is not developped by EA Black Box anymore ;)
