That's the most disappointing news I've heard all day đź‘Ž . And I don't think Black Box actually 'lost' their reputation, it's just because Criterion kept stucking their noses into making NFS games for them in my opinion.

After the absolutely broken and terrible Undercover I think it's fair to say their reputation was ruined. That game simply can't be defended it was like playing a game in pre-alpha. Pro street wasn't as broken, but wasn't exactly enjoyable either. As for The Run that was ok at best but once again poor design choices and meh physics meant it just didn't stack up anywhere near as well as Criterion's Hot Pursuit.

Are you kidding me? Criterion made the NFS series feel like NFS again. Black Box completely ruined the franchise. So happy this is true!

Need for Speed: Most Wanted Offers Widest Selection of Cars in the NFS Series

In addition, a few of the cars you'll be driving and some of the damage physics the game's engine is equipped with, the information blowout reveals a system of Speed Points, or XP, which can be used to unlock mods, upgrades, and brand new vehicles.

EA says that Need for Speed: Most Wanted will offer the widest variety of cars ever seen in a Need for Speed game, offering way more vehicles than anything else the company has ever released.

You'll be able to modify your wheels, rims, suspension, engine, nitrous oxide propulsion system, rollcage, engine, body, and just about everything else on the vehicle.

Finally, because Need for Speed: Most Wanted is set in an open world environment, you'll be able to discover and select new vehicles that you'll find parked in alleys throughout the city. You can do this in or outside of a chase. Credit: Ian Miles Cheong

This is also great!

While Criterion did make a better game than Black Box over the past few years, HP3 still doesn't really feel like any other NFS game, but I'd like to think of it as a new direction for it.

Like the idea of discovering new cars. It rewards exploration much like Burnout Paradise. đź‘Ť

To me it sounds more like TDU2 instead of Burnout.

I'm glad they're taking over. HP3 is one of my favorite NFS games, up there with the Playstation classics.

Texturing pre-smashed billboards with other EA devs is brilliant!
I thought it was a joke when people mentioned it many days ago.

Still find it weird that so little shaky-cam gameplay-station footage made it out of e3. The official preview/interview video recently posted suggests that there were many events and vehicles to choose from.

Maybe E3 is tightening up on what you're allowed to film? Although I do agree, I'd like to see some actual gameplay footage from people who aren't EA and Criterion employees.

That PWNED video showed off some nice new features. Swapping cars mid-chase? That'll come in handy, especially if your car can be wrecked like in Hot Pursuit.

Cars can be wrecked, but can be repaired through Auto-Repair drivethroughs like BP. Unlike BP, in a pursuit they can only be used once. It was mentioned a few pages back in this thread.

It was the first with cars that drove like Mario Kart... But that's just me. I've played them all(minus Undercover) including the 3DO and PS1 versions through the Run. HP felt like the old HPs...... same type of racing, similar environments same formula. HP is its own Sub Series.. its unlike Most Wanted/Carbon/Undercover, Shift, Pro Street, V-Rally, Underground and any other sub title. None of them felt the same.

I'm not all that interested in this, much like HP.... Discounted I may get it.

I Disagree HP3 felt alot like Neeed for speed Hot pursuit 2

That show PWND. Is it on terrestrial TV?, I recognise Julia from gameface.
Where does this show Air guys?

in the E3 chat room everyone was confirming what will be in game, so I started confirming random things. For the entire show I was doing "Buildings confirmed" "Grass confirmed" "Mailboxes confirmed" and so on

They didn't "keep sticking their noses" into anything because they've only made 1 NFS game to date. EA is the one who wanted multiple teams working on the NFS franchise to release games annually, & it was EA who said they've taken the Burnout team & combined them with the NFS development.

It's not so much Criterion butting into NFS; it's more like EA pushing Criterion into NFS, mster.

If you were an employer, had 2 employees; one who made a good product, and one who made a bad one, which employee would you want to make your next product?

I'm expecting to see old school Muscle cars then. PERIOD!

I hope not, pursuit breakers was one of the few things in the original I didn't like because they were just oh so scripted and chases just became find the pursuit breaker alot of the time. Of course you could choose to ignore them, and I often did, but the AI had so much catch up sometimes it was the only way.

Well the rubber band AI was annoying at times.

Found a interview with a few new things.

According to the description and the video too, team racing is in this game and when he asked the EA guy about Need for Speed joining MLG (Major League Gaming) he said: "Yes we want to make it happen."

Corvette ZR1 confirmed. Although it's not like there were any doubts about it being in the game to begin with

Yeah I saw this too, this is insane. Honestly the only games that is big on the MLG circuit is Call Of Duty, Halo & Gears Of War. This is so awesome, and will be great to see some MLG Need For Speed.

I am just hoping for a solid racing game with a flawless online experience and a indepth customization feature ( i really hope the story mode is good too)

Racing games in MLG is hella new. If the racing aspect works out, I would so go to tourneys if I could.

It looks like the dirt on the cars is dirt collected from driving. Neat.

Looks like we have exhaust fumes too; that doesn't look like nitrous.
