It's not the prices we're complaining about, it's the lack of quality in the content and glitches in the main game that are left unfixed. When your base product is crap, charging for extras that are also crap is not justifiable, regardless of inflation. I personally have no problem supporting a developer even if they have slightly overpriced DLC if it's good content and they show strong support in fixing the main game (like Polyphony).
All of the recent disc games are glitchy laggy crap. Stick to downloaded ones & most problems will be solved.

If they add an install to HDD option most problems will be solved as well. Its the devs job to make sure all formats of the same software functions exactly the same, not the buyers.

Plus some of us still lives in third world countries you know. The next NFS will be on sale before we can finish downloading.

It's not the devs fault they have to make a game that can function properly on PC & on an outdate console. NFS suffered badly on PC for years because of that but CG reversed the rolls for MW. Also the Blu-ray drive the PS3 uses is utter garbage which is another reason why the newer games keep freezing.

Last time I checked EA's forums the PC version also has its fair share of glitches. So the problem is not just hardware related. There are genuine issues with the programming of the game.

In any case, every platform's MW could've been better. CG have the ability to fix it, but they can't because EA is calling the shots. So that's the nail in the coffin for NFS as far as I'm concerned. End of story. Period.

What kind of glitches are we talking about here? I saw the X360 version of this in my local JB HI-FI the other day for just $49, and was sorely tempted by it. As much as I loved Tomb Raider and BioShock Infinite, they don't have much in the way of replay value. But Most Wanted is an open-world racing game, which got my attention, as it would give me the chance to muck around if that's all I wanted to do. However, if it has glitches, then I might look into the complete edition of L.A. Noire, which I saw for $29.

L.A. Noire has as much replay value as the other games you mention. Don't get me wrong it's an amazing game but once you play thru it once it collects dust. If you want MW get the downloaded version & 90% of the problems are gone out the window.

Most Wanted is a great game and worth the purchase, however the complete voidness of personality makes it tough to stick with in my opinion.

If you liked Burnout Paradise, then you will love Most Wanted. It's not as colourful and extreme, but it makes up with real cars and (slightly) more realistic physics. Single player is fun but gets tedious quick, so online is where the heart of the game lies. The glitches however can make or break the experience. The disc version suffers from random freezes (which could corrupt your save if you're forced to repeatedly reset the PS3) and constant disconnects from EA's servers (which could make you lose all progress during the session). There are other small niggles like upgrade parts not unlocking, but they're not game breaking. If you just stick to single player for mucking around you should be fine though.

I'll save my money then. I remember getting Wipeout 3: Special Edition on the original Playstation and never finishing it because it had no personality.

It's just such a shame, the components are there...just literally nothing else. You think at first that the cover is supposed to be 'stylish' but in actual fact it kind of portrays the whole game and it's idea of 'personality'.

I'd rather have awful jazz music than generic wub-dub, and attempted style over no attempt at all.

Oh so I have to pay 1/3rd more than the disk price just so I can properly play the game while the disk price is already more than the PC version? The PSN Store prices are ridiculous. I've got the disk for 55.- € in a local shop where it's 49.99€ now, in the Store MW still costs 69.99€.

And how do you come to the conclusion that the PS3's HDD is any quicker or better compared to the blu ray disk reader? Both are outdated slow tech and struggle to handle the latest releases, but I doubt the HDD is any better than the disk reader...

This. The freezes might, partly, or not at all, be hardware issues, but there are many other issues. Bugs and glitches, few are as much of a game breaker as the freezes where you lose progress and potentially damage your PS3's hardware (given their frequency), but still, they give you quite an annoyance if you play the game for a longer time than a casual player.

Ironically on the cover,

the 911 and the Vantage both have black rims which aren't available in the game thanks to its lack of customization, and the Aston Martin wears a black paint you can't put on it in the game either. Overall I don't get the lack of colours available, the least bit of personality and customization they could've given to us...

There are more press shots of the game that reveal how the game was actually meant to be, but than was, most likely by EA, limited to milk more money out of it.

This 911 Carrera has really nice rims, right?

And yes, you do get these rims in the game, on the NFS Limited Edition 911 with locked upgrades and locked to matte black paint.

On the actual 991 911 in the default game however...

:yuck:

It also seems they planned to include blue and matte black as Aventador colours as they appear on several press shots (these press shots are used on in-game loading screens too by the way).

I was kinda surprised at how few cars have black as a color. AFAIK you could get black on the Impreza Cosworth, Focus ST, Venom GT and the Satin Black cars (911, GTMC, F-150 Raptor, R500 Superlight, SL65) and maybe another car I might have forgotten, but not on any other cars. I was confused at that. Maybe to make the Satin Black cars more exclusive, but I still don't understand why they don't have black on the other cars.
EDIT: And those press shots as well. A few things are present in press shots. For example, in that picture of the Aventador, there is a BMW M3 GTR battling with the Huayra in the background. The M3 GTR was later added in DLC. The cop cars in early screenshots wore a black-and-white color scheme, perhaps a development of the Seacrest Police paintjob. They were later changed to the current blue-and-white, the black possibly being a placeholder. And finally, the Hummer H1! That vehicle is on the portable versions of the game. Console users are still waiting...

Those cars ain't black buddy. They are Grey or Grey Matte.

HDD had years of development at the time. Blu-ray was fairly new tech. Everyone agrees the slow RPM of the PS3's blu-ray drive causes all the problems. Pulling data from a HDD is & will always be faster & more stable than pulling from a disc.

The Subaru Cosworth Impreza WRX STi and the Ford Focus RS500 both have matte black available as real colours, so just because they weren't called Matte Black/Satin Black (as the PR calls the matte black on the Limited Edition cars) it doesn't mean they actually are black.

Proof:

Also, more examples of Aventador colours that were cut out of the game despite being present in various press shots or even shown in the official announce trailer:

Clearly a matte black, way darker than the 'metallic grey' we have in the game as darkest colour.

That's the dark red metallic available on various other cars, the LFA and Viper GTS for example. Compare it to Arancio Argos to see the difference.

It's really a shame, every car should have a colour choice like the 911 Carrera (8 colours available + matte black on the Limited Edition, which should be available as last colour on the normal one too). Instead they even used the colours to milk money.

Who's that 'Everyone' guy you talk of? I haven't seen him posting here.

I know that a HDD is usually faster and more reliable for reading data, I just stated that the disk version isn't much worse since both the HDD and the blu ray drive are old, slow and outdated.

And my point about the ridiculous pricing stays. It's like Sony wants me to get the PC version instead by making their product unattractive either way (overpriced or a flawed, repeatedly freezing game).

Sony isn't the problem it's the bad conversion rates from dollars to all other currency. Here in the USA the downloaded versions are the same price as discs & the PC version is either the same or $10 cheaper. Depends on how much the publisher is charging the stores.

Also the Focus & all others are grey on my TV. Black is the color of the banner at the top of this page. I saw the SLS in the preorder color once online & I can say that's black. The others are clearly on the dark side of grey but not quite black.

Ironically they're selling the 5 satin black pre-order cars now. It's showing up on the Australian PSN store. Don't know about other regions.

Regarding black, the game only recognizes black if it's 'satin' or 'matte'. There are other cars that are black (physically speaking), but the game puts it down as grey gloss (see Marussia, Evo X, GT-R). I don't know why they did that, but I presume it's because of the limitations of the graphics engine. Black gloss texture doesn't show up well on screens because of the contradiction of the need to display light absorbing 'blackness' and light reflecting 'glossiness'. Even in GT5 black appears dark grey-ish and not fully black. Newer TVs are a bit better at this, but it's still not the same black quality as you see in real life. Of course Criterion could've just labelled it black gloss, so who knows why they're being pedantic.

On the subject of missing colours, the Alfa 4C and Shelby Cobra is available in white offline (since they're Most Wanted cars), but white is not available online. Go figure.

My Cobra is white w/ blue stripes online but I think the one offline also has white w/ black stripes that's not online. Also the Camaro is shown in metallic lime on screens but you can't use it like that. I also think I saw the Agera R in yellow & orange once.

IIRC the Cobra only comes in red/white, yellow/black, blue/white and silver/black online.

Are those Agera pics from pre-release? Or are they hacked cars?

I have a white/blue Cobra online on my game. I clearly remember driving it around. I know the white/black one is offline only.

Beats me but I want them in the game. :(

That orange Agera picture is a badly photoshopped rendering or real life picture, it looks nothing like the game's engine...

There's a license plate called 'Colour Me Bad' if I remember correct, and that plate shows an orange Agera R with all its surroundings in black & white. Makes me want an orange on it in the game really bad.

About screenshots of gameplay with cars using hidden/new colours, there are ways to change the colours in the game if you play on PC (go search YouTube if you're curious), so I wouldn't rely on those too much.

You can also do so with a jailbroken PS3. With one you can add in PC mods for Skyrim on the PS3 so modding car colors for MW isn't out of the line but you lose online ability.

I thought MW has manual trans? The buttons for up & down shift are unmapped in the controller menu I think.

Please tell me you didn't make that statement in seriousness, because if you did: 1) Look at the thread title; 2) Notice we AREN'T talking about that one; 3) No kidding, we've known.

Is this post really necessary? No need to act like an asshole so I suggest you piss off.
