Actually, while I'm at it, here's another EA/CG bash rant comment. I used to enjoy the SLS AMG and Focus RS500 a lot, and their sounds were awesome up to the last update. The SLS got a BOV noise and the Focus got a worse, generated sound without turbo BOV, really CG?
I wouldn't even mind to pretend my SLS is a TwinTurbo charged tuned one, but the turbo BOV on it is taken from little inline 4 cylinder cars like the Focus/A1/4C Concept so it sounds not just modified but rather completely wrong.

That's weird. I never noticed that the sls has a bov noise. I thought they were all naturally aspirated.

Well... it is  Just CG turbo'd it for some reason... they seem to have troubles with engine noises, the Charger R/T makes nothing but supercharger whine.

The SLS gained a BOV sound, and the Ford GT lost its supercharger whine. I don't really notice anything different on the other cars. Just what the hell is CG thinking :indiff:

It's just a small I5 2.5. If you turbocharged a late 4th gen Grand Am with the I4 2.4 it would **** all over the Focus RS.

The engine sounds were better when DICE did them in HP3. But at least MWs engine sounds are better than the run, all of them sounded the same.

DICE helped CG make the game engine for HP3 so the Chameleon Engine is just a modified Frostbite Engine. I think CG make everything else themselves.

The thing I don't understand is, why did they even have to modify or fix any of the sounds? Sure, they had to make new sounds for the DLC cars, or give them existing ones, but the default cars all were pretty fine. All they had to fix were the sounds of opponents/other cars online which were terrible before the last update, now they are good. But that's part of the sound engine, not individual sounds of cars.

Everyone forgets that the Focus RS has more than 4 cylinders.

The A1 clubsport quattro has 5 cylinders as well, I'll fix my post.

Edit, Fixed.

I believe in fixing the online sounds they glitched the sounds of some cars. CG won't mess up the game that bad on purpose.

They screwed up the M3 GTR, Charger and the GT500 I think. I know the M3 GTR ain't right, it sounds like this:

Lol just made this, hope you guys get it.

Does anyone feel the 911 GT2 seems heavier than its stats suggest? Compared to other cars it just feels very sluggish in quick direction changes. The 911 Carrera has so much more grip by comparison.

Also, for people having freezing problems, it might be a good idea to check your disc. I just discovered a pretty sizeable smudge on the back of mine last night. Pretty odd considering my discs are usually kept in tip-top shape even after many years. After cleaning it I haven't had any freezes for a couple hours (fingers crossed it stays that way).

Criterion doesn't use Frostbite but their own engine.
On the way from Burnout Paradise to Most Wanted it got deferred lighting but lost 60fps.

No, DICE help CG make their engine. Why HP3 says assoocated with DICE on it. Its the reason why we can have a big map on the game without needing an install.

Finally defeated the last 3 Rivals I was missing this weekend...

But, you see, that sense of achievement you get after finishing a game... I didn't get it this time... :indiff:

Maybe it's time to trade Most Wanted for another game...

Burnout Paradise was already an open world game.
DICE helped developing Hot Pursuit but mainly building the world map:
We started talking to them about what we wanted to do and they got excited about the project; they have a very talented team of artists at DICE led by Johannes Söderqvist, their art director. We created all the roads here, we did a lot of work to get the gameplay right before we made it look pretty. They took those roads and those style guides and delivered 110 per cent on what we were looking for with the final result

You can't and never could. There are ways to get behind the barrier that appears if you don't have the Terminal Velocity pack, but all you can do is drive in the short tunnel. Behind it, there's an automatic reset that kicks in for non-DLC owners.

If you found a tutorial on YouTube or elsewhere on the web that shows how to actually get past that point, I'd be curious to see how it's done.

Also, when you join a friend who's in a DLC speedlists lobby, you'll be automatically disconnected instantly - on loading screen - with a message popping up that says you need to purchase the Terminal Velocity pack in order to be able to join.

Alright thanks 👍 I'm asking because I need to do a 7 player achievement at the airport, and some of my friends don't have the DLC. They could've at least allowed players to enter the area, and just lock all the cars and achievements for the pack. I hate it when things like this divide the online community.

That's EA for you... and me. Completely overpriced pseudo-gameplay enhancements to rip even more money off you, and people are stupid enough to keep buying it instead of boycotting EA's DLC strategies.

I'm not against DLC in general but there's a line between fair payments and complete rip offs...

Indeed. I boycotted EA after Shift 1, but then Hot Pursuit came along and I enjoyed it, so I decided to support NFS only if they're made by Criterion. But with MW it seems like history is repeating itself, so I give up any hopes of EA ever turning the tide. This will be the last NFS and EA related product I will ever buy. I've been with the franchise since the 1994 NFS but enough is enough.

My hopes for a decent console racing game rest solely on Codemasters and Polyphony now.

It's ridiculous how a company of EA's size managed to repeat the same faults over and over, in almost all their game franchises. Yearly game release pushes, lack of support leaving customers unsatisfied (Most Wanted online is currently about as stable as Midnight Club Los Angeles is on PS3, which came out... 2008? YOU'RE 5 YEARS BEHIND EA!), overpricing the game and its additional content, and the list goes on.

I just don't get how mainstream gamers still buy their games, across all genres and franchises, the shooter games being a prime example. The only thing EA are really perfect at is selling the own brand - despite its really bad reputation since years. And advertising. Advertising everywhere.

Most mainstream gamers just want a quick fun fix. They don't really care if the games are unpolished here and there. And they don't play as much or as deeply as the committed gamers, so the glitches are just minor annoyances to them. If they get a corrupted save for example, they'll just trade the game in and move on. Also, the generation who grows up with Evil-EA are still too young to really tell the difference between a polished and a marginally non-functional game. Us who grew up with Good-EA knows what it used to be like.

Looking at online forums there's a growing number of people getting more and more fed up with EA though. If EA keeps up their shenanigans, once the current generation of gamer grows up and understands they'll be in deep trouble.

*makes jerking off motion* Price of consoles & games gone up over the years so the DLC will follow the same trend. Go look at Ace Combat Assault Horizon if you want to see actual overpriced DLC. They charge you about $4 for one plane if I remember right so the prices for the MW DLC are way far from outrageous.

It's not the prices we're complaining about, it's the lack of quality in the content and glitches in the main game that are left unfixed. When your base product is crap, charging for extras that are also crap is not justifiable, regardless of inflation. I personally have no problem supporting a developer even if they have slightly overpriced DLC if it's good content and they show strong support in fixing the main game (like Polyphony).
