That, or they would rather not have people wax poetics about their sporty past, and have to look at their current lineup to see it's anything but that.

This seems reasonable to me, because it's the truth and it's exactly what happens all of the time when people talk about Toyota. But the same thing could be said for Nissan too. They get a pass because of the GTR, but it's not like they are producing all kinds of affordable, exciting, sporty cars either.

I think Mitsubishi is the worst offender in this regard. Looking at their lineup over the past few decades, they've had a number of exciting vehicles but nothing Mitsubishi offer today can be considered a driver's car, let alone anything fit for purpose in a racing game.

^^ True, but Mitsubishi is at a point where they are almost out of the car business altogether. Like, I don't even classify them anymore. They are an "also ran" company.

Customisation.

We've heard rumours that Toyota aren't happy with people customising their cars; both Forza 7 and NFS have customisation as a somewhat large part of the game.

On the other hand, both GT Sport and Project Cars 2 both have road going Toyotas in their game, but neither of those games have any customisation in them from what we know.

Something to think about.

RIP Supra, AE86, and GT86.

This is gonna be a little weird to not have those three in Payback considering those are the cars that players would use.

Oh and rip as well the possibility to making a Initial D replica of AE86 and some replicas that can be made with the Supra.

this made me realize that i should get the Autoart Initial D AE86, and there are two of them, this is gonna be nuts for my bank account lol

It's probably something deeper than that. Both GTS and Pcars2 only have one actual production vehicle featured, and that's the GT86. Nothing else outside of that. It just strikes me as odd that that is the only car they managed to put into their game, if customization was the actual issue.

With GT Sport I can understand why the GT86 is the only production Toyota represented in the game as it is pretty much the only sports model that has been available post-2008. Project CARS 2 didn't desperately need another production Toyota; fans of JDM performance cars and vehicle customisation are not as prevalent in its target market and probably have their needs met with the other cars on offer.

But with that said, I can imagine Toyota barring access to older road vehicles to make people ponder less about the days Toyota had a more exciting vehicle lineup. :ouch:

The only reason it makes sense for GTS is because the actual lack of older vehicles in general, however that doesn't shed any light on the subject, that's just a design choice with their game, so they likely didn't have anywhere to put older vehicles on the list. As for Pcars2, it doesn't. They have a range of vehicles and it could have been balanced in with what they have set up. The fact that these two games with vastly different scopes in terms of car list are only having the exact same vehicle, is what makes it interesting. I don't think customization has bearing on this, to be honest, because if it wasn't, they'd have a lot more Toyota production vehicles if that was the case.

Well, the GT86 was practically designed for the aftermarket. Toyota getting mad about customizing a GT86 is like someone getting mad at an artist for painting on a blank canvas!

It wouldn't make sense for them to say "We don't like people modifying our vehicles....... except that one.... you can modify that one." So the no-customization argument is weak IMO. If that was truly the problem, they wouldn't allow any vehicles in whatsoever.

I still say it's because they know they are a boring, lazy company right now and don't want the Toyota fanbois to realize it LOL

I think I missed these earlier if they have been posted but this confirms that the PS4 Pro will be enhanced and in 4k...Cool, the detail will be amazing close up then and on the cars, especially if they drop the Snapshot Pro photomode in with the game. 👍

p.s and it looks like they have dropped all the water droplets off the cars even when it is dry at last :)

Have they ever seen a drag car?

I was talking about how the hub, or face, is so close to the outer lip of the rim. Every drag car I've ever known of has extremely deep rear wheels due to the narrow axles used.

Because it's easier for them to create a single wheel model with a fixed offset than making multiple models for different wheel offsets.

I let this reasoning slide in most cases with Forza, since a lot of the times the wheels are the same diameter all around with the rears only being slightly deeper. The latest example is the 911 GT2 they keep showing everywhere, but there were examples that were really hard to ignore like the 787B with the super deep front wheels.
I can't accept that train of thought for this, however. The reason being that it seems to be a drag specific wheel choice as I can't see that diameter and width being useful anywhere else. As such, this aftermarket wheel was designed solely for the rears of drag cars and should have been modeled correctly to begin with.

It's possible that they modeled it after a narrower sized wheel (not skinny, just not too wide) and stretched it out to accommodate whatever car it's installed on.

Edit: It kinda looks like a 15x8 wheel, but widened at the inner edges.

I suppose that could be the case. I wish there were more options for these games. A lot of the times I don't even bother with aftermarket wheels since I can't play around with offsets.

I'm pretty sure they just modeled the wheels to fit every car without clipping through anything. That would explain the FWD offsets for all the aftermarket wheels in pretty much every racing game ever.

Surprise! New trailer

There sure are a lot of car reveals in this video. Many returning from NFS 2015 but new additions include the McLaren P1, Porsche 918, Land Rover Defender and Plymouth Hemi Cuda.

Looks more and more like Rivals. However I feel Rivals had more atmosphere but if the racing feels good then I'll be happy. Oh and that Audi R8, praise the racing lords!:D
