Now that the Liberty Walk kit is available for the baby Lambo, I'm thinking the Huracan may just be my favorite car in this game.

^^^ You can always start one ;)

I'm sure there will be soon. Unfortunately I won't be picking it up release day. It wouldn't do any good because my aging PC won't run it. I have to invest in a new GPU before playing Payback, and I won't be doing that until I receive my bonus around Thanksgiving. I'll be posting my builds long after everyone else grows tired of the game most likely LOL.

I would but I got nothing to show since I can't start playing for another 5 hours so it kinda defeats thes purpose for me.

Looks like we're not gonna be seeing that RX7, E30, Skyline 2000GTR, Cuda, both Volvos in our garages for a while

Reviews are starting to land

Sounds like using reward cards to upgrade your cars abilities is pretty garbage :(

I'm quite enjoying it, it makes the game more interesting than just earning credits and buying the most expensive parts! My only concern is that it gets much more difficult to get cards later in the game which could end up making it a grind-fest. That said the parts in the Tuning Shops still seem fairly competitive and you can buy those with credits.

First impressions, some things are much better. The handling of the back end of the car. You can now just turn or tap the brake to make the corners 👍 (daylight and seeing the cars!) and the number of extra Garages and spaces in the garages. Cool Number Plates

Cool smokin cars

And the addition of photo :cheers:mode

I enjoyed the first section and can now modify my cars.

My only negative so far, as I have taken loads of photos on NFS2015 Snap Shot Pro (as most of you know :sly:) The Photo mode power and zoom/aperture and the graphics are no where near the 2015 level of detail on the cars, scenery or buildings and more like Rivals? (Downgraded so much I had to check my settings-it says I am on 4k 60FPS -PS4 Pro) I don't like to be negative as the game is much bigger but it certainly has had a big downgrade with pop ups on ever corner and detail missing.

I will use the camera and hope the graphics get a PS4 Pro patch to enhance them.

I will set up another Photo thread for anyone else taking shots..

P.S I added blue smoke in the garage to 2 cars but it does not seem to be activated or be bright blue? I have the Neon Under glow but no Blue Smoke

Thanks for posting the reviews notsofast.

I haven't even played yet, mind you, but I've watched a lot of video, and to me it seemed like the Gamespot review was poorly written. It didn't even mention customization, which is a core feature of the game. One of the strengths/weaknesses given (about the game world) was a direct contradiction.

It seems like people either like the characters or hate them. To the ones who hate them (I think the last review basically said they were the worst ever), I would say "apparently you never played NFS 2015. THEY were the worst ever." Personally, I really like the characters in this new game. They are waaay better than the previous live action characters; the game basically forcing me to "hang out" with people I never would IRL.

It sounds like the upgrades are going to be a grind. How much so remains to be seen, for me at least. Personally I've liked the NFS games in the past that feel more like an RPG in the way you build your car, which essentially is a character in its own right. And in that vein, I've never played an RPG that didn't feel like a grind at some point.

I'm really disappointed about the cop chases. I was in support of them not automatically adding them to free-roam, but the fact that there's no variety and every chase is an automatic victory if you reach a certain destination is weaksauce. They need to bring back the non-checkpoint, free-roam cop chases of Most Wanted '05, and in particular, the ability to find hideout spots and enter cooldown.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this. The photos that come out of the photo mode always look a bit lacking in detail and the lighting never seems right. The lack of motion blur when capturing a fast moving car doesn't help matters, you just get blurred wheels which looks bizarre.

^^^ I wonder... is it that the graphics are actually downgraded (maybe to optimize framerates with such a large open world(?)), or is it really the same as NFS 2015 but the lack of detail is more apparent because it is in daylight? Either possibility seems plausible.

I played it again and I think it is a mixture of both. Maybe I am not used to all the pop ups every corner in the daylight. The graphics on the cars (in the garage) and on the road also are not very detailed and load as you look at them. It is not bad just not as sharp and detailed as the night time of NFS2015 👍 Some roads and sunsets look great, just not all of the lighting.

It stands out much more as @Moglet says on the Photo mode as you can zoom in and look around the detail and the lighting on the cars/buildings are not the same.

I am enjoying it, it is just that they said it had been PS4 Pro enabled to 4k/60fps and I think I was expecting something better than or improved on nfs 2015

Why are people so serious with reviews these days?
[cough] [cough] Gamergate [cough]

You're right. IGN and gamespot are two paid schills who, if they aren't reviewing mindless dross for a few quid or a game isn't in a banner on the site, then the best you can get, short of mad hype is about 6-7, so 5/7 (5.9/7 for IGN) is actually quite good.

One fear I have is if EA have buggered things and left the best parts for card users. Please tell me you can buy the best parts for in game credits.
I won't mind grinding if you're talking 5-6 races for best available parts, but if EA has put in a pay wall or forced a grind of 15-20 races for best available parts then I'll cancel the pre-order now.

From the reviews I have been seeing it's more of a grind.
Some say that it lacks content. Where you play for 30 minutes or so then get bored and play something else.
Because I guess you will hit a wall and have to grind parts and credits. Although knowing EA. probably will have some sort of real pay system. (What I have found out it's $2.50 for 250 payback points) Now unsure if it's anything that can be done or not but that's the lowest possible.

..I never thought I'd say this, but, putting aside some weird design choices (no police in freeroam (there exists ways to only have the police engage if the player wants to, Ghost - GTA V, The Crew and TDU2 have such things in place), the tuning system to some extent and the lack of a freeroam mode online), the fact it's basically Carbon with extra FNF and some.. things that should've never been there (I'm looking at you, Speed Points; back at it again with not just another round of microtransactions, but loot boxes as well), in general, this feels solid.

Am I ready to call it the best NFS ever? No, not really. There's a certain test of time it must stand there, in addition to the above issues. But this has already roundhouse kicked 2015 in the rear. And you know what? Get at least the online freeroam bit sorted and I think this can be a serious contender in the online-freeroam-car-customisation-game genre.

It has been confirmed the cards and crates are purchasable via real cash, but what I detest (thanks to Take Two and R*) is intentionally nerfing payouts and buffing prices to make the grind unbearable. Gaming of old always involved some sort of grind, but for the most part, there were tricks and exploits (not involving glitches) in the game such as a short race or a resellable car or a respawning item that, with patience, made the end game enjoyable. Now a lot od developers are forcing a weakened game onto platers with limited scope for a long game. I've no qualms for those wanting everything now, that's their perogative, but to force you to pay to win and sod a lasting end game is just unforgivable. If EA has made it so the top parts 'needed' to complete the game have to be bought or grinded at length to gain I will be abandoning the game. If I can mess around and earn one top part for every 5-6 races then I'm in (basically the same as NFS2015).

Firstly FNF?

Also what do you rate as the best NFS?

Agree with your NFS2015 description though. It seems too many reviews are putting demand on what they personally want and not on the merit of what they are given. If the game was buggy as hell with unplayable physics and trashy (and I mean properly trashy, not just rough edges) graphics I'd understand the criticism. Equally so if content wasn't available or being made available when promised. We all want something and invariably some of us will miss out, but that doesn't make it a bad game, just one we mightn't want. In any case it is early days and time will tell :)

I haven't heard - can you sell cars or not in this game? And if so, do they get massively depreciated as usual? I was really hoping they'd let us sell cars for what they are actually worth.

I might get thrown out for saying this, but I honestly get Underground 2 vibes watching videos of free roam through Silver City, which is a really good thing.

It's the Hakosuka, the same GT-R that was in NFS 2015 and was the first GT-R overall. Also, to copy/paste from a forum post I made elsewhere, I skimmed through this YouTube vid outlining Payback's car list, and it seems like there are a few different ranges we can see here for performance levels.

-This following list of cars can be tuned to performance levels 199 and 299, but not any further:
Volkswagen Golf Mk.I
Mazda MX-5 (1996)
Mazda MX-5 (2015)
Acura RSX-S
Chevrolet Camaro SS Mk.I
Subaru BRZ Premium
Ford Roadster
Ford Mustang Foxbody Mk.III
Nissan 180SX
Buick GNX
Honda Civic Type R (2000)
Mercury Cougar
Nissan Silvia (S15)
Honda S2000
Volkswagen Golf Mk.VII
Subaru Impreza WRX STI
Ford Mustang Boss 302 Mk.I
Lotus Exige
Nissan Skyline GT-R R32
Dodge Charger (1979)
Honda Civic Type R (2015)
Ford Focus RS
Nissan 350Z
Mercedes-AMG A45
Audi S5
Dodge Challenger SRT8
Nissan Skyline GT-R R34
BMW M3 E46
BMW M2
Porsche 911 Carrera (993)
BMW M3 E92
Honda NSX Type-R

-These next cars can only use the latter two levels:
Ford Mustang GT Mk.VI
BMW M4 GTS
Porsche Cayman GT4
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Mk.V
Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport (C7)
BMW X6M
Porsche 911 Carrera (991)
BMW M5
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6)
Mercedes-AMG GT
Jaguar F-Type
SRT Viper
Nissan GT-R R35
Porsche Panamera Turbo
Acura NSX (2015)
Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991)
Audi R8 (2nd-gen)
McLaren 570S
Aston Martin DB11
Lamborghini Diablo SV

-The following can use all three levels:
The five derelicts
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX
Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8

-Finally, these cars can only use the last performance level:
Lamborghini Huracan
Lamborghini Murcielago
Ford GT
Lamborghini Aventador
Porsche 918
McLaren P1
Beck Kustoms F132
Koenigsegg Regera
Aston Martin Vulcan
Pagani Huayra BC

These are also all assorted by cost, and unlike the official page's car list, the F132 seems to be a bit over $700k in the video I saw rather than a million. Also, some of the cars might come stock being very close to the barrier between performance levels, so it seems likely some cars will accept minimal amounts of customization before becoming ineligible for a lower performance level.

Personally, given the faux-Vegas motif, I think I wanna see how much I can limit myself to just American cars. Of course, I could simply use a combination of the derelict Mustang and C10 for all fifteen performance level and class combinations, but where's the fun in that?

Spent about 4 hour with payback last night. I gotta say i am pleased with the game as a whole, it has it's flaws as does most games these days, but the handling is massively improved. I actually found myself just driving around at one point, which is something i found oddly unbearable in 2015.

So it gets two thumbs up from me at this point, we'll see how it holds up over time though, i really hope it doesn't become a boring grind fest. I gladly accept the practice of repeating events for more cash or whatever but if it gets to the point that i feel i need to spend real cash to progress cuse the grind is to much, my opinion will change. For now though, great fun, would buy again

According to a few posts on reddit the 1st half of the game is fine for progression but once you reach the 2nd half it starts to get really difficult to progress unless you get lucky on the speed card spins. One guy said he spent about 80 cards trying to get the part he wanted. So that's either 80 race wins or a few lucky shipments (which take longer to get at higher levels from what I experienced) which is a huge amount of time for a single upgrade to one of your cars. Imagine trying to upgrade a whole garage. The problem seems to be that the spins give you higher level parts than the Tuning Shops. Fix that and it would be fine; you would just purchase cards with credits like in any other game.

I'm actually holding off purchasing it until I hear more about the progression in the later sections of the game. It sounds like they're guiding players towards microtransactions which would be fine in a free to play mobile game but isn't really fair in a full price title.
