Need help with PC#2. *Update 3/27/14* No luck. I am done.

Hmm.

With the GPU in, what happens when booting with the monitor only connected to onboard?

Likewise with the GPU in, what happens when booting with the monitor only connected to the GPU?

There are people running gtx 760 in your PC, HP PRO3330(that is what you have, right?)
They upgraded PSU along with card and all was well. Has the psu been correctly eliminated as the problem?

Thanks.
Do/did manufacturers put whitelists in BIOS of their desktops like they do with laptops?
A whitelist has a list of hardware the bios recognizes and allows. Has anyone tried a 630 in this specific model?
I'm seeing the 530 mentioned as the newest anyone has tried.
While 220w might be enough, quality of the PSU has to be questioned.
Has this thread been brought up?

Thanks for all the replies but I am done dealing with this. 2 weeks with 0 results. So I pulled the card, packaged it up, will be shipping it back to Amazon, and not dealing with this any more.

Maybe it's because I spend 1/4 my day troubleshooting software issues at work but for me it's the thrill of the hunt, if you will. I like digging through settings to figure out the fix.

That said, there is definitely a saturation point at which enough is enough and you throw in the towel.

That said, I think that if you had a self-built machine instead of a factory HP/Dell/whatever, you'd have better results, so don't let this put you off PC games completely. As others have said, they lock down their BIOS and put in the smallest parts they can to get by making adding/changing difficult down the road.

When you're ready for a new machine, we'll be here to help. :D

Well don't forget this is the 2nd PC in this thread. I had a gaming rig built 7 years ago. If you start at the beginning, I did indeed have a PC built. PC#1. But that was 7 years ago. This thread was to determine which PC would be better to build up. In the beginning everyone said to go with PC#2. So I did. Here, 5 pages later, I have made 0 progress. Yes I am throwing in the towel.

Ok. This is one, very stupid suggestion, if the reason for the card not working is the PSU...

Get a cheap 500 watt PSU.
From your Camaro thread I see that you can work with metal very good.
So build a "Case" from metal just for the PSU.
Take the old, MiniPSU out of PC2.
Let the cables you need go out from the custom PSU "case" and let it go in where the Fan of the old PSU was.
All the other cables can stay in the custom "case".

Hook it up to your TV and see if it works...

Do not forget to leave some cooling possibilities in your custom case.

So finally you have two boxes.
One with the Psu
And one is the Pc itself:):nervous:

It is very unlikely to be the PSU, it is most likely the motherboard. I have searched about this specific motherboard and seems to have compatability issues with graphics cards.

Anyway @CAMAROBOY69 I think that leaves you with two reasonable options to get gaming on your computer still. This is a 2GB GT 610 that has your PC listed as being compatible: Link or 1GB version: Link

Still you will get reasonable performance for games you want to play as shown on video below with same PC as yours and the 2GB GT 610:

Just thought of another idea, upgrading CPU can potentially give you options for good graphics still for them games with HD 3000 or if possible HD4000 if a bios update made Ivy Bridge CPUs compatible.

I dont see the power supply requirement. Keep in mind my PSU is only 220w. Do you honestly, 100% think that card would work? I am quite stubborn about giving up so if some of you could confirm 100% without a doubt that this card will work, I might be willing to give it a try. Might.
I will give all of you a few days to think it over before I purchase another one. I have 100% ebay rating and would hate to have to return an item to someone.

It has your PC model number in the auction description and title so I would think it has a high chance of it working plus there is a YouTube video of someone with same card with same PC running it fine.

I will have a look though regarding CPU upgrade as HD 4000 will be even better so you will have faster CPU and GPU while taking same amount of power. Would you be comfortable changing CPU? If so I will have a look now to see if HP enabled the new CPUs in bios update.

Edit: Had a look and seems pricey regarding CPUs and not knowing if compatible. I did see someone with same motherboard type work with other GPUs which is annoying that one you got didn't work. The GT 630 would have been about 3 times more powerful than GT 610 while taking less power. There is also a GT 530 that might work by HP but it is too expensive as it is hard to find. It is up to you if you want to spend the money on the GT 610 which is quite pricey for what it is in terms of performance, your eBay will be covered as seller lists your PC as being compatible.

Since when is the HD4000 better than a GT610? Just asking, because from my experience, the 4000 is VERY slow:)
The GT 610 is just a rebranded GT 520, anyway below is a picture showing performance between the GPUs in DiRT 3 game:

HD 3000 is also quite good, option would be to upgrade CPU to something like 2500K, maybe better use of money than buying a GT 610 for a high price. Similar kind of GPU performance but big CPU performance upgrade over a G620.

Then as price goes up there is also possibility of building new PC something like this: Link
should be able to play latest games quite well for less than $300 regarding hardware. Will need OS buying for it though which will probably be around about $50 or more. I guess it is not possible to get Windows 8 for $39.99 still?

Is there a mobile HD4000, which is slower?
Why would some notebooks have a GT 610 M (which is surely slower than the no-mobile version) additional to their HD4000?

However, It would be a really good idea to upgrade your CPU, as Saidur_Ali said:)

Ah, and the HD 7770 in @Saidur_Ali 's configuration is a very good card.👍

I don't think @CAMAROBOY69 is that interested in giving the whole thing an overhaul.

My advice would be stick to the XBox for now, build a whole new PC in the future, and in the meantime turn PC2 in to a media center.

@DQuaN is correct. I do not have the time or patience to mess with bios or any of the other internal trial and error features. I wanted a simple plug and play card for that PC. There was a video card slot, I purchased a couple video cards, they did not work. I am done unless someone can confirm 100% a video card will for sure work as a plug and play.

gt 530 and amd 6450. Those are the fastest cards I've seen working with slimline hp desktops with 220w power supplies.

If you buy the 300w PSU you could move up to a 6770 or a 7750.

On this site there is a list of parts that should be compatible with your PC, I THINK...

However, I do not know if a GT 530 or a AMD HD6450 will be enough for you...
