I don't know how difficult of a process it would be to pull off, but PD should really try and separate PS4 and 5, taking advantage of PS5's potential. For example, if someone hosts a lobby on PS4, it will naturally remain at 16 people, but if you would host on PS5, you'd get more people. and PS4 players wouldn't be able to join.

PS4 is 10 year old tech, it's time to move on. I don't want PD wasting time trying to optimize for a last gen console with an ancient Jaguar CPU. PS5s are plentiful now and we're literally only a year a way from the PS5 Pro. People need to upgrade instead of expecting devs to work miracles.
They can move on with GT8, they chose to make GT7 cross gen, they didn't have to. The game is already optomised for the PS4. Dumping the PS4 now will likely just fuel even more negativity towards the game.

GT8 will be PS5 only possibly even crossgen with PS6 depends when it releases, so be prepared for that - on PS4 maybe with cloud streaming

It's not "expecting devs to work miracles". If a developer makes a game compatible with older hardware then it is only fair to expect said developer to support said older hardware. Otherwise, what was the point of even making such game compatible in the first place? 🤔

PlayStation Studios aren't averse to making PS5-only DLC to a cross-gen game, as we saw with the Horizon Forbidden West DLC. Obviously that's a more standalone component than anything that would come to GT7, but it shows they will move on if they think it's necessary.

Hey guys!
After so many meh updates, I hope they bring new or recent GT3 and GT4 cars, one new track, and maybe maybe maybe weather for some tracks that don't have it yet like Interlagos and Monza...
One can only hope, right?

We really really need to keep our expectations in check 😅

Nenkai said "Next one is shaping to be the biggest update we've had so far."

Biggest we've had so far.

The updates have all been pretty small up until this point, it's not hard to be the "biggest" when every other one has been so small. Biggest doesn't mean huge. It doesn't mean a Spec II. It doesn't mean a complete rewrite. It just means bigger - but it doesn't say by what amount.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I consider adding PSVR2 support and even the ability to purchase the engines for swaps big updates to the game. Both had significant impacts to gameplay for lots of people. Big changes doesn’t always mean quantity of changes/additions and I doubt many people are seriously expecting a complete rewrite.

If the coming update is bigger than either of those mentioned above I think the vast majority of players would be pleased by it. If it is big in terms of quantity I’d say the same, most people would be very pleased with an update that’s double or triple the quantity of an average update so long as it doesn’t mean going just as long without one until the next. Obviously this excludes the group of people who will never be satisfied with any update that isn’t exactly what they want when they want it.
Hard to say not knowing any details though. A big update can also be a bad update, and with live service style games developers are apparently more willing to take risks knowing that they can either revert back or (more likely) make more changes to fix it rather quickly.

I don't care about VR in any game. And Ray tracing is just fancier graphics, something which doesn't impact gameplay in any meaningful way.

Adding career events specifically available to only one user base is just asking for trouble, especially when you consider how much people on from both user bases are asking for more events. Like I had edited my comment you quoted to say - save it for GT8 when developing for PS4 isn't relevant.

The events could still be there on ps4 but without sophy ai who knows, i doubt we see a fully featured sophy until next gran turismo game
I dont either care about raytracing, but vr has trsnsformed gt7 in many ways, i do understand people might not want to spend so much on piece of equipment,or get motion sickness but it gives you gaming experince you cant get on a flatscreen

To be honest, I don't think Sophy will extend beyond mission or special Sophy events on either/both consoles. I don't think it will replace the AI in and existing events or become the normal AI in any new events. But the AI in GT7 can be good, the chilli races are a good challenege. If they fleshed out the career mode with a load of proper grid start races and AI like in those races, I would be pleased with that.

That would be one way around it. Make the PS5 events Sophy, but have the PS4 versions of the events be chili pepper events. Same payouts and such but at least PS4 would still get the same gameplay benefits e.g. more race events to participate in.

The best way still I think is just to save Sophy AI career events for GT8. 👍

Bear in mind, we've not seen that many instances of Sophy in a single race. It might be that you can't run more than 4 at a time on current hardware. I think it's destined to be a special events type mode for the time being and then hopefully expanded on in future games.

Feburary update was pretty big. We had one track, 4 cars (officialy 5 but those were 2 versions of one car) VR support, and Sophy events. If we are getting more than that I will be massively satisfied.
If you didn't have a PS5, nevermind a PSVR2 headset, the Feb update was "just" one track and 4 cars.

The time to move on from the PS4 was during GT7's development. PD/Sony chose not to. We're stuck with a "live service" game that has to support a 10 year old platform for the years to come.

No track in the real world would make me jump out of my seat (...maybe Silverstone :sly:) unless it's a classic original returning...

...But I'm hoping for something like New York (!) or Citta Di Aria (!!)).

(But I know it will never happen...)
Same here. Of course I'd appreciate any new track, but nothing gets me like the return of a classic original.

Didn’t they delay the game due to covid//supply issues and ps5’s being myth? Wasn’t ps4 support practically an after thought. I get why they did what they did when they did..didn’t love it then. Farther we get from it i love it even less. Having a game which normally releases every 7~ years getting jammed up by supporting last gen hardware is disappointing and cumbersome.
