NES (S3): Season 4 discussions etc

What should we do regarding the race start procedure?

Also can we please make a switch up from standing starts in lmp/gr.1 cos as much as I understand rules shouldn't be changed for issues with specific cars, no matter where I start I'm getting to the first corner last every race, the Nissan doesn't get off line more crawls away, I've tried every setting of TC and modulating my throttle, it's ridiculous and essentially makes quali mean nothing for me
Ok. This is a decent point for the next discussion. Should we stick with grid starts, or switch to rolling starts?

Everyone please state your viewpoint and reasons so we can make this a community decision.

There'd be a number of advantages concerning the rolling start - another would be a better chance for everyone to make turn one. I wouldn't mind a change to rolling start in Gr1 at all.

I'm all for it, makes being in a fwd much less torture, as much as the Porsches would still have an advantage (hybrid boost bois) I don't think it'd be as much and I may make the first corner not in last, and everyone gets round the first corner as well, to keep racing close tho I'd run it with the closest grid spacing possible so people are still able to attempt moves lap 1.

A formation lap would be interesting as GT sport only gives you a set number of times to race in (5,10,15,20,30,40,50) so we'd be cutting into the race time or adding like 5 minutes on and then we'd need somebody to act as the pace car and call green light or the leader does an effective safety car start style either way it produces a different set of issues but would be a lot of fun

I think with the format being time- based and not lap based a formation lap would make things more complicated. Automated grid or rolling start IMO

As I did a 3h race on the 24h Nürburgring yesterday we had a formation lap, obviously. But for this 40min banter here it's not necessary. A legit rolling start is enough and better than a standing start.

Offapple, you can open up a poll via GTP thread settings

I mean we can see through the week what the average laptime round the circuit is and then set a number of laps accordingly +1 for formation lap, it'd make sorting out pit strategy much easier as well but it's down to organisers how the race is done

Ok. Comments war 1 is probably going to take place now...

The incident report for Round 2 has been completed. Expect the entry list to be halved by the end of the day.

I'll work out the overall championship points sometime in the future. Probably today :D

Waits patiently for 30 second penalties to be handed out and takes a 3rd place o.o

Also, based on what everyone's been saying about the rolling start idea, I've come up with this:

Because Gr.3/GT3 cars are all RWD, they're all (somewhat) equal off the line. But because of certain cars in Gr.1/LMP having different drivetrains affecting their launch, a grid start isn't fair. So we could keep the Gr.3/GT3 race as a grid start, but change the Gr.1/LMP race to a rolling start. The addition option of a formation lap won't be considered until Season 4, as it would be a very big change to the rules mid-season. Of course, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on this proposal, and your opinion on whether the Gr.3/GT3 race should have a rolling start too or not.

Thanks for all of your feedback up to this point! :D

So from this I'm happy with gr.1 switching, gr.3 idm (vested interests and all.)

On the case of formation laps going into season 4 if we use the data from this season to get lap numbers etc. So it'd be something to test out in between seasons n all.

I'll protest against the lap 6 incident of the LMP race.

CJ forced me to defend as I moved to the right hand side to block off a potential cut in by him. However, because I had to leave the racing line I had a worse entrance and had to break earlier than I usually do. The fact that I'm generally braking earlier due to my driving style makes me thinking that the penalty is not fair, not responsible and it should be removed.

@PSN offapple made it clear: you easily made the corner even when I hit you. That's why he gave the penalty.

The issue is that I get a penalty for my driving style. It's really unfair and it feels to me like something is rigged.

And why should I get damage because of your driving style?

Your defending also gave me damage when you let Dirten go just before T4.

I'll happily make 'that' screenshot go public and let the community decide if you want @Sniparator. Braking that early is beyond driving style and you probably know it, but if you really want to go ahead with this protest I won't stop you.

Want to state I'm not taking sides. However, after the things that have been said regarding the incident on this thread, I worry that some members may now be more hesitant before reporting any future incidents.. Therefore I propose that all chat regarding incidents should be kept private between those directly involved and @PSN offapple how do you feel about this?

I think it should be public that I think that the very teammate of someone, who is involved in the very accident, should NOT be judging about it.

I’d be happy to give my view / review incidents where neither myself or my team mate are involved in, if required for the future.

I also agree that incidents should be communicated privately, it doesn’t do anyone any good, least of all those who’ve worked hard organising this great series
