...Huh. That old dude - isn't he from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace?

I always wondered if the producers decided to ditch the name Quantum the moment SPECTRE became available. Are they gonna retconn and say they are one and the same? That it was SPECTRE all along, just decided to call itself Quantum and confuse us?

Makes sense...:boggled:

Yes, "that old dude" is indeed Mr. White, last seen at the performance of Tosca in Quantum of Solace (but strongly implied to be Dominic Greene's killer).

At this point, it is believed that Quantum was one arm of SPECTRE, and that after Bond's intervention, it was shut down and its members killed off to protect the larger organisation.

Alternatively (and this is the theory that I like better), Quantum was ruined after the episode in Bolivia, but Oberhauser seized control of what little was left and rebuilt it. It opens up the possibility of the organisation having always existed under different names and reforming itself to stay hidden. I am guessing that Oberhauser's father was a member, but when he ignored direct instructions, they approached Oberhauser and offered him membership if he killed his father.

@prisonermonkeys ...I gotta ask you man, are you secretly Neil Purvis? John Logan? Maybe R. Wade?
No, no and no. But if I was, I would do it like this:
"Welcome, James. We've been waiting so long, and now ... here we are. I always wondered when and how we should meet, and it pains me to admit, but I never considered this. But now that we're here, I think I like it more than anything that I ever thought up before.

"I know how far you will go for answers - Russia, Bolivia; I know all about it. I was there. I know that you'll go to the ends of the earth to find out. I know that there's a burning question on your mind: did I kill your parents? If I was feeling punitive, I would make you work for it, but I'll spare you the disappointment: no.

"I liked your parents. Really, I did. Your father was a man of principle; mine, a sycophant. He was always trying to please everyone around him, but I always wanted him to stand for something, if only for a week; a day, even. But no. Not him. Never him.

"He was a member of this little club. That's what he called it - his 'club'. His one indulgence, a little wickedness on the side like a private joke as he profited off the secrets of others. But his club - Majestic-12, they called themselves then - took a dimmer view of his activities when he ignored their orders to stop dealing with Franco, and so they approached me - the dutiful, if neglected, son. And they offered me his place at the table in exchange for his life. I don't think that even they foresaw my willingness.

"Your parents' death was a tragic accident. But it served its purpose - inspiration. I never lacked the nerve to kill my own father, merely the means. But then Andrew and Monique fell to their deaths, and the solution presented itself. My father was an experienced climber, but he was complacent. Has he checked his gear, he would have spotted the acid-weakened ropes straight away. And so he died as he lived, so sure of himself that he never even considered that he was not loved by all of those around him.

"As for his little club, I don't think that they ever regretted accepting me into their ranks. I felt more like I was a part of a family than ever before. I suppose the irony is that they should have seen it coming when I ordered their deaths to take control."

...Niiiice. But methinks Hollywood types might reject that for being too wordy...:D

...If he can pull this off and still go home with a ton of awards, then he can deliver a pepperoni pizza and still make it look Shakespearean...

...Ahh dang it, a double post!! Ahem. Anyways...

What's up with this rumor of Damian Lewis being next Bond? Really? That guy from Life? Homeland? Hmm.

Quoting from The Telegraph:

Barbara Broccoli, the Bond producer, is a fan of Lewis after working with him on last year’s The Silent Storm.

Broccoli went to great lengths to keep the actor happy while on location. “She overheard me say my pillow was like a brick and she arrived in her car from London with two duck-down pillows from John Lewis,” he recalled.

It's not Lewis himself that is actively campaigning for the role, but Broccoli is courting him to be the 7th James Bond.

I'm not so much of a fan of Daniel Craig but I think he needs one more after Spectre... they'll have just spent 4 films re-inventing Bond, they need to get at least one in that works on it's own with Craig before changing Bonds.

It's an old rumour. The original interview was loaded with leading questions, with the interviewer trying to get Broccoli to say what they wanted her to say.

The latest title performer rumour suggests that Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds could produce the theme, though I am having trouble pinning down a source; there seems to be a fan petition involved somehow, which would make this unlikely if true. Still, Oasis were one of the groups that were a missed opportunity for EON, though they never would have been able to work with the Gallagher brothers. One Gallagher is better than no Gallaghers, and if you had to choose, you'd have to pick Noel over Liam.

One thing I noticed in the NBA Finals spot is that I actually saw a man bleeding from the head being chased all over town. Could this possibly mean, playing theory craft for a moment, that Spectre will tell how Blofield actually got that scar?

Photos from filming in London show Waltz with motion-capture dots all over his face.

Filming in Morocco:

Meanwhile, at Pinewood ...

Production has built a replica of the ruins of Vauxhall Cross building and Westminster Bridge for the finale.
It's believed that the final sequence will involve a helicopter crashing into the bridge.

More speculation from Morocco as Craig arrives in Erfoud:

It's believed that SPECTRE will have a base in the desert somewhere outside Erfoud, with some possible locations touted:

It's somewhere outside Erfoud. It's difficult to find any solid reports, since it's in the desert, and if it's happening, production is keeping a tight lid on it - which wouldn't be hard. It would just be used for exteriors, with the interiors filmed on the 007 Stage back at Pinewood.

But if it is happening ...
... Then hopefully we will see Bond leading an attacking force against an enemy installation, which we haven't seen since Moonraker.

I'm hopeful because Sam Mendes has revived other elements of the old films - like the parade scene - that have not been used for a while.

That's no great loss - Smith always sounded like he's stumbled out of the pub and into a recording studio while looking for a place to take a discreet leak.

I'm hearing talk that Sleaford Mods will be performing the title theme.

EDIT: Looks like a hoax.

But their brand of pop culture rantings and swear-laden sprechgesang would have been a perfect fit for a modern Bond flick.

No real surprise there. It's been known that he's under an extended contract for a while now. Although 2020 is an interesting closing date - most people expected one more film from him, but now he could do Bond 26.
