Ellie Goulding has posted "Live and let die" on Twitter shortly after being photographed in a recording studio, making her the firm favourite for the Spectre theme.

She's not a bad shout, got a very recognisable voice which could work well.

Personally I would prefer Sean Lock to do the theme song.

It's the first time we've seen Craig's Bond up against a brute of a villain. There's been a steady stream of them since Red Grant, with varying degrees of success. Jaws is the most obvious choice, but he was little more than a cartoon villain. Necros was probably the most successful, but only because Koskov and Whittaker were very discreet (some would say weak) villains. Mr. Stamper was pretty bland in a very uneven film, and Zao and Mr. Kil were just stupid. Gobinda was a real heavy hitter, but the film was Bond at its campiest which undermined him while Louis Jordan was chewing scenery. Likewise Oddjob, who didn't really do much in a very flawed film. And, of course, Max Zorin, but he was the primary villain in a weak remake of You Only Live Twice, while Mayday was scary for all the wrong reasons.

^ Classic Bond. White dinner jacket, check. Suppressed Walther PPK, check. Bad-ass pose, check.

Me likey.

...?? Did I start something here inadvertently ?

Anyways, I just found out that... The Peanuts movie and Spectre is opening on the same night!! :(

I think one or two studio executive are going to have heart attack after the opening weekend...

Latest title performer rumour suggests that Sam "stumbled out of the pub and into a recording studio" Smith will sing, with Ellie Goulding - the original choice - sidelined after working on Fifty Shades of Grey. Mind you, I have also heard that Smith and Goulding will do a duet, with lyrics by Thom Yorke (or Radiohead as a whole) as Daniel Craig is a huge fan.

Eh Thom Yorke writing the song but not singing...I guess I can get behind it. I'd rather hear him but this does seem to be our of his norm. Next one they should get Damon Albarn to write a song for the film.

Smith is a terrible choice. At this point, I'd rather have Jack White and Alicia Keys back.

That was the worst Bond song is history IMO. I think they need to move away from orchestral and freshen it up a bit, especially after Adelle.

I like the dramatics of the orchestral themes! I didn't mind Jack White and Alicia Keys though... Worst theme for me was Madonna's Die Another Day theme.

 Yeah it is an acquired taste but definitely had the best bond music video ever made plus it cost a fortune!

Funnily enough it's considered the best bond theme by most younger people (under 25-30) when they were asked. I really like it even today.

Dammit! I was so hoping for Ellie... After the fantastic job she did on LMLYD, she would've slayed the Bond theme song.

Oh well. Guess I'll wait for the next movie, with hopes she'll finally do the theme song for it.

P.S. I have nothing against Sam - I like him a lot. But I like and prefer Ellie more. :D

Lyrics ny Thom Yorke ? Why not have him sing it ? The song would be a lot better since Thom himself can bring the emotion behind the song.

Sam Smith eh.... I guess i'll hear it first before i judge it.

A lot of Bond fans hate it. The title theme was particularly difficult for Quantum of Solacs because EON wanted Amy Winehouse, but Winehouse was struggling a lot. When she wasn't on a bender, she and Mark Ronson had a hard time pinning down a sound for it. In the end, her personal problems became too much for her to deal with, and EON had to look elsewhere on short notice. I don't actually mind "Another Way to Die" for the figurative language, but I don't think White and Keys were the right choice as performers.
