New Bond Film - "Spectre" - October / November 2015

Ellie Goulding has posted "Live and let die" on Twitter shortly after being photographed in a recording studio, making her the firm favourite for the Spectre theme.

Well, the ridiculous rumour of the moment is that Golding posted on Twitter because she's friends with Smith and so did it as a misdirect. It seems to have been started by a group of Smith loyalists refusing to believe him when he ruled himself out of contention.

i see... well it would have been interesting if she sing the bond theme i guess.
I'm more willing to believe that she's performing it than I am the idea that she's doing Smith a favour. The rumour that she is covering for him reeks of fanboys who can't let go.

Quick updates:

1) Sam Mendes has confirmed that the title theme has been recorded, but gave nothing away as to who might be performing it.
2) Mendes also ruled out directing any more Bond films after Spectre (but he said the same thing after Skyfall was released.
3) Despite one of the longest on-location shoots - seven months - of any Bond film and rumours of troubles with the script and budget, he sounded extremely enthusiastic throughout the interview.

It's also believed that the trailer will be released on the 22nd with Pixels (Adam Sandler must save the world from aliens who have mistaken a transmission of video games as a declaration of war). But we may be getting a theatrical poster either before, with or instead of the trailer (or not at all).

22nd, eh. Don't want to see Pixels, though. Last Sandler movie I was forced to sit through was Grown Ups 1. I learnt my lesson there.... I'll wait 'til it hits Youtube. :irked:

As for the theme song, I wish they'd break tradition of using pop artists and go with a left-field choice. How 'bout....Rush? Manic Street Preachers? The Civil Wars? (Oh wait...)

It will almost certainly be published online, if not concurrently, then shortly thereafter. The days of releasing a trailer exclusively in theatres is long gone - the internet guarantees a more effective delivery of the product.

I do find it odd that EON haven't published a release date for the trailer, though.

They'll only go for something that sells. Last time they tried to go left-field, we got "Another Way to Die".

Update: Talk of the 22nd is coming from the way Pixels is the only Columbia Pictures release in the United States this week. After that, it's Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation at the end of the month, but Columbia have confirmed that the release of Rogue Nation was shifted to avoid competing with Spectre, so I can't see the Spectre theatrical trailer shipping with it.

In truth, I have no idea when it will drop. It could be ten minutes from now, or it could be ten days from now. All I know is that it exists and that it will be released before 26 October.

A double post!! From a Staff Emeritus, no less!! Call the police!!

It is actually rather shrewd having Spectre's trailer drop alongside Rogue Nation, not to mention funny as hell. But can't see Paramount okaying such a move at all, so I guess Pixels it is then. :mischievous:

If it's attached to Pixels, then that just means that it will début with Pixels before moving into general rotation shortly thereafter. Down here, that happens very quickly - you would be hard-pressed to find a trailer that is exclusive to one film.

EON have announced a date for the theatrical trailer. Unfortunately, we are going to have to wait for a long time:

Not just one double post, but at least twelve in this thread, including some triples!
More importantly, this movie looks like it'll be great, I really should watch Casino Royale again, and then QoS and Skyfall because I haven't seen either.

Multiple posts are fine so long as a) a sufficient amount of time has passed between them, and b) the subsequent posts contribute to the ongoing discussion.

..."It was me, James, the author of all your pains."

{Goosebump mode on}

...Looks action packed, maybe a little too much? Guess I'll watch it again and see...

One of the big drawcards of Skyfall was the way none of the action sequences overstayed their welcome, and they never competed with the character development for the audience's attention. I have faith that Sam Mendes can do the same here.

I'm still not sold on Lea Seydoux - she was the worst thing about Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol where she pouted as a substitute for being threatening.

Ah so she was in Ghost Protocol, i knew i saw her somewhere before. I like the new trailer, can't wait for this.

Also,

i have read the leaked script and it seems they have changed some tiny stuff according to the trailer. I just hope that the Q branch gag is still there

She was apparently fantastic in Blue is the Warmest Colour, but I haven't seen it. And from what I know of it, Ghost Protocol is going to be a whole lot closer to her role in Spectre.

That said, given Craig's I'm-stating-the-bloody-obvious tone when he tells her that he's her only chance staying alive, she might be playing an innocent bystander caught up in the conspiracy, which will be refreshing.
