The sounds have always been disappointing, so there's not much worth in bringing that point up. Also I'm not defending anything, it just surprised me how a lot of people seemed to have knowingly (at least some people) set themselves up for a fall. I mean, come on, it's GT sound. It's like expecting the next Elder Scrolls to have a revolutionary combat system only to anger its fans by not delivering. Developers all have their quirks and flaws.
Regardless, it is still a noticeable problem that, as you can see, is affecting a handful of people who play the game.
Sounds as if you have more info on GT6 than we do.
I fail to see how a PS4 can somehow change the I4 we used to get in the RMed ZR1 into a proper V8.

RACECAR
Sounds as if he and many others are better off not bother with GT ever again. Its kinda pointless to keep hoping for stuff knowing the history of never getting them.

I'm not ready to throw out the baby with the bath water yet. I doubt I ever will. Am I not allowed to be mad that I've had farts that sound closer to the real car than this?

Their method of collecting sounds or the file format needs to change. Someone needs to tell Kaz about FLAC.

I don't need super loud car exhaust notes that are exactly the same. I'm more interested in how it 'drives'. Sounds are important, but not the MOST important. Isn't there a thread for that anyway? I'm ecstatic to see how the HSV handles.

Come on guys...were you really going to expect anything from PD?

I already knew they were gonna botch the sounds so the HSV is hardly ruined for me.

...and I thought you knew how PD rolled.

....*Chuckles*.... So it is true. Some of you guys in this thread DID expect PD to capture the real sounds of the HSV-010. You see this is why you guys keep getting disappointed with PD, you expect to much, especially engine sounds...

Now for GT6, try not to EXPECT to much if possible THAAAAaaaanks. :sly:

Off to bed now, see ya guys in the morning.

I'm not saying you aren't allowed to be mad, I'm merely suggesting cutting your losses. To repeatidly do the same thing expecting it to somehow change is, well, the definition of insanity.

I will say one thing though, as games like pCars come out on consoles it's going to be harder and harder to keep letting these things slide. Disappointment is one thing, but ignorance is another. Soon there's not gonna be a reason to put up with these things if PD doesn't kick their game up, right now a lot of people with PS3s only don't have a choice.

People are becoming more upset because they realize what's possible and are mad that PD isn't going down those same directions for them. I can appreciate PD for what they are, but I admit I'm fortunate to have that perspective since I have every sim racer and simcade racer made in the past ten years available to me, while a lot of others don't.

What happens if PCars comes to a console and sounds aren't near what people expect? I think next gen consoles will allow for better sound on top of graphics, gameplay etc. PD may have to sacrifice some things in order to get the 'looks' of these cars. I'm no game developer expect, so it's just a hunch.

The thing is, pCars would have to go out of its way to water down the sounds for the console ports. Just look up a video, it sounds amazing even now as, what are essentially, placeholders.
I really don't wanna derail this thread though, so I'lll stop there.

I'm pretty sure sound design is not related to hardware, maybe in terms of compression or something but the sounds we have now are simply a product of the way PD recorded and implemented them.

No kiddin', 2 years later and people still don't know how PD rolls.

I'm pretty sure whatever couple of dudehams at PD that are looking at this sub-forum here....

"Oh, they want DLC. God dang these folk are a loud bunch after that Motegi DLC pack we released."

"Model that car. People want THAT. *Spawns Honda HSV after 3+ monthes*

"Man, this DLC that was requested... they're now calling it poop and don't want DLC. Welp."

"Woo. We're missing something though. They expect good engine sounds. NAHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Let's have some fun with these guys. *recycled sounds* Ah, yeah... that's much better. Let's see if we can keep the complainers. Trollfest go!"

I can't tell. Are you guys trying to defend PD for their poor sounds? Because as I've said before, just because it should be expected doesn't mean that the problem goes away. I can't imagine how you guys would be as a judge in a serial murder case.

I can understand them wanting to use sounds already distributed with the game, but I'd have used one of the F1 exhaust samples, personally, with a generic V8 "engine" sample.
It seems whoever allocated the samples saw it has a V8 and simply slapped the GT500 GT-R sounds on it. EDIT: said GT-R sounds being recorded from a turbo-charged inline-four themselves. I really hope they're up to something in the background.

The engines irl are similar, the exhaust is the main difference. The GTR's have a short exhaust exiting behind the front wheels. The HSV has a single exhaust exiting the rear.

Not surprised in the slightest that PD 🤬 up the sound of the HSV, just like a lot of the other things in the game, so I'm still getting the car. But only because GT5 is the only game right now where I'll be able to drive it. If T10 got ahold of this car, I wouldn't pay PD a cent.

Just hope PD does a good job on the sounds for GT6, unless they want that game to be a joke. I don't expect it to be perfect, but they can clearly do better.

It's 2012. They don't have anymore excuses.

Of all the cars to copy-paste sounds from, why wasn't this one at the top of your list PD?

copy-paste from the F1 cars in the game would not help. The HSV doesn't even have the same sound onboard as it does from the outside.

Hmm, when i recall correct, none of all DLC cars got new soundsamples. Even the Vantage V12 are just recycled ones.

To me the HSV is a hugh letdown....PD still dosn't care for the sound department.

I heard reports that the BRZ was a bit different. If a car that similar (to two other cars) can sound different, even for a bit, then why not a totally different car like the HSV?

Also, what did you think of the Aventador? I'm not really an expert on car sound vs. real life.

The people defending PD are hilarious. I can't believe you guys are truly happy to just sit there and resign yourself to sound always being crap and therefore it's our fault when we expect them to get better. Pathetic.

Gran Turismo. Expect Perfection Mediocrity.

Yeah i agree with you on the sound part 100%.
But like me i am upset about it too.

But honestly not defending them on that. But i will say I play GT5 for the physics because it has the best simulation feel on the wheel. It would be great to have the perfect sound. It is disappointing but i guess i have just gotten used to it. It would be nice to have the flashyness like Forza but i am used to it. Like i have said before if Forza had GT5's physics i would play it.

knowing PD they probably copied the handling characteristics from the NSX too.

Take it to the sound thread guys. This isnt the place. We dont want this locked before we can even download the cars.

Hide away the negative comments you mean? This is a thread about the DLC cars, it's quite reasonable to talk about how they sound here.
