No problems đź‘Ť. There's all the Career stuff and Arcade, even my funds are all there but I can't spend them :ouch:... and I wouldn't exactly call it with no problems because the 'cannot reconnect to internet' spamming gets really old really fast .

The greyed out can't be used and the the sections I've opened can.

I can imagine it all getting really boring if there's no way to progress when the servers shut down.
Ah, gotcha. The campaign mode was added in after a few updates IIRC. So me not having a file set up already, If I happen to pick up the game after this theoretical situation, that would mean I'd be even more limited than what you show? Unless, are you allowed to update a game even though it's been shut down like that? I don't own many games that have legitimately been shut down in a manner like that, so I have no reference.

We need to wait for the full track list with each dynamic feature listed next to them. If it's just rally tracks not having dynamic weather I'd be cool with that.
If not all Polyphony tracks have it at launch, I'd be ok with it, as long as RL circuits got the priority. I didn't rate the Polyphony tracks highly in GTS anyway. Aside from Tokyo, which I thought was freaking awesome.

I'm not really sure either as I generally keep everything up to date on my system... although I was able to update my disc copy of Driveclub to the last edition and add all of my DLC on my PS5 after the servers for that game closed, and I believe GT6 can still be updated. I think that information is on the PS Store side of things rather than the PD server. I'd be hesitant to use my experience with one game as a yard stick though.

It's still somewhat promising at the very least. Although, It would still suck for those that don't transition to the next game for whatever reason.

This is kinda off topic but why is the maxium number of cars in GT Sport's Daily/FIA races limited to 20? This video from the early days of the game confirms that we used to have 24 cars in Daily Races. Does anybody know why this has changed?

Probably because they finally realised 24hr races done by only one person isn't realistic or healthy. Hopefully it means they are working something out where AI take over, or where they just simulate the stints with team mate drivers so it's instantly 3 hours later.
Seems like a good reason to bring B-Spec drivers back if they can't develop an driver swap feature with buddies on your friends list. Driver swapping back and forth with a B-Spec driver you developed seems like the next best thing.

Never was around for the PS3 era but I'm glad they're bringing back the performance point system back rather than the class system. The class system is too arbitrary and lets decent cars go to waste because they don't "fit in" (for instance, pretty much every electric car). Didn't the 2020 reveal trailer show the class system alongside the PP system? Guess they felt the class system was a bad idea after all.

Or for sim mode races, just have the ability to save in the middle of the race like in GT5.

Its beyond stupid to limit PS5 online to 16 because PS4 cant handle more. They could easily let PS5 players play against PS5 players in 24 cars or even more in lobby. Wreckfest have separate 24 car lobbys for PS5 users.
Completely agree, it's heartwrenching to see Gran Turismo 7 being held back by an 8 year old platform. Sony should've never made it a cross-gen game, there is no reason for me to buy a PS5 anymore.

This one I'll be pre-ordering. Waited six months before purchasing GT Sport. Now that we know Arcade Mode and some type of Arcade Mode Campaign is programmed at debut, I'll spend my full $120 for the 10 cars, metallic colours and special Gran Turismo 7 Edition whatever else.
Doubt we'll see a GT7 PS5 and controller, but I'd try to get that too.

As long as the option for saving your progress through pit stops is available it’s not an issue at all.

I have the Gran Turismo DualShock 4 controller, but I mainly just use it with my computer.

Unfortunately there was no question regarding a new AI model. Let's be honest, what we have in GT Sport is about 15 years out of date. The AI are laughable in Gran Turismo.

The weather simulation system sounds very impressive but I really hope that the selection of circuits supporting it increases over time.

For those of us that want 24h endurance races, why not add them? You could add some of the super expensive cars as prizes or simply just a huge payout. I don't see why they are still deciding on it.
At the least if there are still custom races in 7 you'll be able to create your own 24H race that are now more dynamic

You'd be able to get all of GT Sport's single-player campaign mode stuff since the updates are handled through the Playstation Store servers, but assuming they don't do an update to address this, you wouldn't be able to save any progress. The way it currently works if you try to play it without ever connecting to the GT Sport servers is that every time you launch the game, it's like you're playing it for the very first time.

And it's worth pointing out that the arcade mode would also be extremely limited, since most of the tracks are locked until you reach certain levels... and while you can technically receive experience and level up offline (at least temporarily), in my testing doing so won't actually unlock anything in arcade mode unless you're connected to the servers. So effectively you'd be limited to Northern Isle Speedway, Dragon Trail, and Colorado Springs for arcade mode.

While I do enjoy GT arcade modes having unlockable content, I'd prefer that GT7 make the content unlock through actually playing arcade mode itself rather than relying on progression via other modes... either that, or simply not have locked content for arcade mode. Definitely don't repeat GTS's mistake of making it dependent on progression that can't be achieved if the servers are taken down (again, assuming the games wouldn't be updated to fix this on account of, y'know, capitalism).

This all makes me happy. Still a bit concerned re: the lack of differences between the PS4 and PS5 versions, but I'll take the faster loading times.

Even GT Cafe sounds pretty cool.

Wow then, that’s very much sounding how I originally thought and would very much be a coaster, to me.

Yep, it'll be a coaster to anyone that buys it after the servers shut down if nothing changes regarding the saves and if you only want to play Arcade Mode.

But anyone that does that would be kind of foolish because of the 'internet required for most content' disclaimer on the box (although personally I think it should be more pronounced)... I don't think you fit that category ;):).

Edit: I should add that I think @Lain's idea of Arcade mode progression only being tied to Arcade mode itself is the way I feel it should be too.

I'm hoping to see GT Sport's three dirt tracks get some better use (and more would be nice, maybe somewhere to use snow tyres?)

Fisherman's Ranch, for example, is a very fun place to drive around, but GTS does basically nothing with it! Of the 301 races in the GTS GT League, ONE is held on Fisherman's Ranch! Windmills and Lake also only have a handful of uses in the campaign, and if you want to make a better race in Custom mode, you can only have one opponent! The three dirt courses have pit lanes but we haven't been able to have fuel/tyre usage there.

Anyway, seriously hoping that in 7 I can race 16 cars on Fisherman's Ranch in single player, with dynamic time and pitstops!

16 car grid is confirmed for Sport mode as far as I undestood... there is 20 player online set on PSN page, which can change...

...I presume PD reduced number of players for Sport mode over time because of many issues that were happening with sync and auto pilot.

We can only hope they will give us freedom of making lobbies with more then 20 people on final game...

That will suck.

Bigger grids don't mean better grids so I don't care about the 16 car limit. It is not a deal-breaker for me because most online races I do contain less than 16 drivers. Also, what Kaz said about the physics is interesting and I hope it's true because the GT Sport physics do not feel natural at all. The cars don't always react in a way that you'd expect and unconventional techniques are required to make them drive properly. I hope this issue has been addressed because I don't want to deal with the strange quirks that have ruined GT Sport for me. Once the physics are set I don't want them to be changed!

Yeah, the box says 'internet required for most content'... not surprising for GT Sport given that it was marketed as an online-oriented spinoff, the issue is that there are a lot of people who like playing GT primarily or even exclusively as an offline single-player game, yet we now know GT7 will have the same 'internet required for most content' nonsense... so for anyone who isn't on board for that, I guess GT6 is effectively the last proper game in the series for them?

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Thanks to Kazunori Yamauchi and everyone who made this interview possible!

:gtpflag:
What about arcade?
Yamauchi-san said arcade is the only one that no needs internet. Will all the cars unlocked from the get go much like Project Cars 2? Or maybe come close to that?

Yep, I guess so... although that game still improves a lot with all the updates that require an internet connection too, and day one patches have been around for a long time now.

I'm not saying online saves is the right or wrong way to go, although as I like to race online it is for me personally.

Edit: Just to add, we know a lot of people like single player career mode but what we don't know is how many of those really care if it's online saves or not.

Depends how ma y cars PD keep available on loan. When starting a new game before the updates load, there are many cars to choose. From N100 up to GR.1. As it is now, when you go to the menu, only N100 to GR.4, GR.3 and the GR.B Evo are available.
Why PD shortened the list, I don't know. Everyone's best bet, if they want to keep playing GT Sport without internet, is to hurry and collect your favorites, before the servers shut down.
