I'd like if they did it like ACC and had the wheel display telling you the temperature in each part of the tire, then again they might not be simulating that. ACC also doesn't let you see your tire life which would be great to have work like that in GT too.

Two days in and I’m trying to adapt, but it’s not going too well. While there have always been issues with GT7 physics, I felt that the previous version mostly rewarded my skills and intuition. With the new phyisics I constantly have to remind myself that the game will punish me for applying the techniques I’ve learned from various driving simulators over the years.

It’s very irritating because the Porsche 959 has always been one of my favourite cars, but finally driving it in Gran Turismo is an alien experience. Not because the car is newly added, but because the revised physics are so drastic that I cannot realiably compare it to anything in the game I knew and liked before.

I finally got to play today. Tried a bunch of Gr3 cars. MR cars were really fun to drive; very point and shoot, as they say. The FR cars, not as much but still fun. If FR is the meta at the Glen next week, I expect a lot of complaints regarding the understeer; especially from the eSports types.

Also, the Super Formula seemed even easier to drive. I wanted it to go the other way.

Edit - I think I'm braking earlier, btw. If people are still using the same braking points as before, then I may be in real trouble.

I just signed with Ferrari for the next FIA season. No surprise there, as I always do on at least one of my accounts. But I feel like I at least have a fighting chance this year.

Don’t care if the the 458 is the new “Slophy” of Gr.3. At least I’ll be able to ‘race’ the car instead of just trying to survive.

The GR.4 458 however, has always been sex.

FWIW, I think the MR GT3 cars might be a little too easy to drive now 😳

Not sure where people are getting the idea that we're now starting on cold tires.
Cold tires at start are not indicated by blue tires on HUD. Cold tires at start is absolutely a thing. They always have been a thing.

Love the updated physics, and FFB

Every car feels more alive than before, especially in vr where you see the movement and can make sense of the weight transfer

Some cars are easier to drive, some are more difficult as PD made a host of changes to each cars base tunes

As far as tire temps, I have race dash with real time tire temp tracking, they come out of the blankets at 140f, and cool down from there, unless you abuse them, and even then only heat up momentarily, can't make sense of this, will do more research in different conditions

Driving in the rain is vastly improved, as using IM in full wet conditions doesn't send you off into Barry R when you hit puddles, but don't even try to run slicks at 50% of the first bar on the track moisture indicator

ABS is also different, more stable under heavy braking using default

It's BS that at this point in the game's lifecycle PD is still messing with the physics. DICE did this with BF5 and I quit playing the franchise.

It plays completely different and must waste more time retuning. I imagine the grief of casuals; moreso, that of professional tuners like Priano.

PD needs to get their act together.

Always going to make some users unhappy, for you tuners garage type, I get it, have a few tunes as well, but they really didn't require many changes to get back on track

For those that just want to jump in and race BOP cars, it is a different story

They do simulate it. The game doesn’t show you, but if you use a dash app it will show you.

My thoughts exactly. In VR with a FFB wheel you notice the physics have improved drastically. What you feel is now very much in correlation to your inputs and what you actually see. Suspension and weight transfer feels more realistic than before and overall everything makes more sense now.

Just did a race. The tire indicator stayed grey the entire time.

Yep. Mine did too. It only goes red when I brake to hard and late in a corner. That’s it.

Has anyone found the tyres can take a bit more abuse during brake lockup before going red? Maybe it's just the car I'm using has bad brakes, but I get a lot more screech before red and smoke.

Funny how some are saying that cars are harder to drive. I think they're easier to drive.
In some ways they are easier to drive if you don’t try to drive them like you might had done before the update. Letting go of finesse habits is the hard part for me.

THANK YOU. I was using too much Sensitivity ( FB Torque 5 and Sens 10 to be precise) because before update those recommended settings 4/1 or 4/2 were definately too light for me.
Now after update I did notice it was too high and changed to 4/2 and I'm in love. (4/1 was still too light? something wasn't right for me) Game feels great now and very immersive. I use T300 btw.

Also another question a lot of my friends did get Logitech G29's and GT7 they are compeletly new to sim racing. Can you recommend them some good starting ffb settings for GT7 on 1.31 ? I can't relate since I have different wheel and different experience.
Ya I'm using the t300 and same as you before update 3/10. I switched to 4/2 based on forum advice and it feels like a new game so much more detail.

I just bought a PS5 3/3/23 i bought ratchet and clank as my first game . I'm like yes love this. Then I was up in the air between gt7 and nfs . I got nfs and driving the cars felt like driving on ice .. so i thought gt7 $40 why not . 27 days in got more then half the cars. 96% of the races are gold .. I fell in love with the game.. played it for the first time since the patch. And I want to smash my ps .. the death of video games are updates. I remember playing world of warcraft. it came to a point that there updates caused more issues then they fix. I don't want to go to work and think about a fat stank ass joint then get home to smoke Reggie . So I don't want to think . I'm playing a race simulator meanwhile it's more like playing cruise'n' USA.. maybe cause I'm an adult and can actually drive. But not one of these cars before this patch or after this patch feel like a real car. so where's this realness at from this patch ? are do I need a $500 vr and a $700 steering wheel setup to go along with my $600 ps5. That's a used Honda that I can actually beat on and take turn with.. Not sure about anyone but ps5 and gt7 might be the end of video games for me... It's one thing to add to a game or fix what's broken . It a whole nother thing to change the whole game mid season . It's like the design team all got Yaris's with bold tires and was told to drive in the rain. Then told every car starts off like this. There not even car guys this is way we got a van instead of a Silverado.. next patch will get minivan . Truly a waste of money well looks like I'll be letting my psn run out on Sunday
I'll try to ignore the rant and just pick up on the actual points raised here. I've only switched GT7 on once since the last update, and after reading about the physics changes and the cars oversteering more I was a bit concerned it was going back to the day 1 physics which were not at all relaistic IMO. They then became easier to control, still not up there with the best racing sims, but at least the game felt better IMO and cars weren't hard to drive just because.

However, on experiencing the updated physics, I haven't got a problem with them at all. They are miles away from the day 1 snap oversteer-a-thon and I adapted to them pretty quickly with very little drama.

I will agree with you on the point that too many updates (as in changing things like the physics not adding content and features) isn't a good thing. People can love the way a game feels at launch only for it to feel completely different a few weeks later. So I appreciate that part of your argument, that's not to say never update a game, but when you're changing things as notably as they are being changed, it can put people off, especially if they liked it before and don't now.

I don't agree that driving the cars is like driving blad tyres in the rain now. To me it feels like a better model than there was before, though I've not played it extensively as GT7 is far from my favourite or most engaging game in general at the moment pre and post the last update for other reasons not connected to the physics.

But aside from your post being one long rant, there are a couple of valid points in there and some points I don't agree with. You'll find your posts are better recieved if they are done less as outright rants and more consructive because I tihnk a lot of people will just see you post as a rant and ignore most of it as it is.

458 feels amazing on my t300. I raced all day yesterday race b.

I tried some of the FR cars and they did not feel as fun to drive and def lacked the rotation of the 458.

Don't really care about any "race cars" aka GT/GR ones, but the road cars feel great and that's what's most important, IMO. I hope PD will focus more on the road cars and SP content in the next updates.

All this "e-sports" drama is just a BS that's ruining Gran Turismo series.

Super cars don't feel like bricks any more , I hated driving lambos and Ferrari's in this game and gt sport because they felt like heavy bricks , now they feel lively and dynamic . Race cars do understeer now , i just adjust the brake bias to the rear brake now . If you don't have abs and you slam on the brakes in a car with giant calipers how do you expect to turn... Your tires aren't even spinning .
Great update , people complaining got accustomed to the bad old physics which were just bandaids on the day 1 physics .

Nice nissan over there

Between the improved FFB and the reworked physics, this game is like 7/10 ACC-AC. And IMHO, they shouldn’t try to get any closer than that. I think PD has hit the sweet spot in terms of “sim enough”, and “accessible enough”.

And for all that time, all the ‘sky shouters’ were wondering what…if anything…was PD doing?

It’s amazing how the masses can do a complete 180 on a game over the course of 6 weeks 😂

My worry now is that PD will revert the changes at some point. Some people have been complaining but if PD look beyond that, I hope they realize that this is the way forward.

I hope they don't listen to any top split players who might be complaining.

Na. All these changes, like the ‘drip feed of content’, follows at least in some part, an “engineered schedule of improvements” model. It’s applicable in several different methods, across many different industries.

It’s not by accident that all these improvements are coming as the release of Forza is drawing near, as is Rennsport. Not to mention, Gran Turismo is the racing game for the e-sports Olympics.

Also, I do have a hunch, that with the release of VR, they’ve gotten additional input from real life drivers, to help them further fine tune the physics
