So how are we going to know if they announce the date or w/e? Is Jordan attending or does he have anyone attending for him?

I can bet people are there, but I doubt we'll hear news until it's all done with. I don't believe anyone is streaming. So we'll have to wait for news, which odds are won't be till tomorrow (Since I think the GT Awards show doesn't end till like 10-11 their time.) So, we'll just have to wait it out.

If they announce a release date it will be all over twitter and the web in under 30min. It would take someone 10sec and a smart phone with twitter access to get it done.

Its also desperate times and a desperate situation, for a game calling itself The Real Driving Simulator and having Nascar etc..Sema is a great place to announce it.

Likely because it's a car show, not a video game show. There likely won't be a date.

Then when do you think they'll announce it?

Seems to me that if they have a dedicated GT awards presentation at the car show and a big, press-filled audience, it would be the perfect time to announce it.

If they wait, then it won't make nearly as massive a splash like this would.

Most likely not, but lets have faith!!!

I would understand if they promised a date or hinted at a date to be revealed at the show but that never happened. People got in their heads that something must happen cause Kaz is there. It's silly.

Splash, really, do they need a splash? No matter when or where the date is released everyone will know within hours. I'm just not seeing the reason to get excited other than Kaz's attendance.
I won't be expecting a date when I wake up but I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get one. Then I'll be sad again when that date gets delayed.

Definitely agree. Fans are just getting really impatient (including me)

This really is the most logical place to make the announcement if they plan to without calling their own press conference.

SEMA isn't just "a car show", it's the biggest aftermarket car show/conference on the planet. Pretty much every aftermarket car maker will be present in some shape or form.

But there's no game shows left this year and announcing it at a car show would be better than just announcing it on the internet.

WHy would it be better?
Do more people attend SEMA than visit GAME BLOGS on the internet?
There will likely be a press release or twitter message or something that will give us a date. WHy waste your energy getting hyped up for SEMA expecting a date and then being let down?

I am expecting a release date from the SEMA show...will I be disappointed if I dont get one? No, not really. Will just have a wait a few more days. It makes sense (IMO) to announce a release date tonight at the awards show. You will have many people attending, its free advertising with all the media/car maker/tuner people that will be at the show, and will give the game some buzz before it actually launches.

It would be better because people @ SEMA will know about the release date and people on the internet. Announcing at an event is probably better than just announcing on the internet.

So Kaz is standing there on stage giving people awards for their hard work creating beautiful machines, pouring their heart into them, and then he'll finish it off by taking the spotlight off them during their big moment by plugging his game?
ACtually, I wanna see that. I want to see Kaz and everyone on stage look uncomfortable.
Sorry, while SEMA does make sense as it's a big stage, I don't feel like the award ceremony would be the right moment.

I don't think an announcement will happen either, but I just think it would be the place to do it in my opinion.

without this game, there would be no awards, does that make sense? So to say that he is taking the spotlight off of them, is not accurate. They are getting recognition, I dont see how that would be taking away from their "moment" if you will. Its the popularity of this series and the show that made these awards possible in the first place!

Sheesh no engine swaps. Something thats been in forza and many other racing games for years. Id rather them not have spent the time on nascar or karts and finish some of these things that I consider to be more important to what GT is.

In real life you can swap engines, why cant you in this game?

I think KY didn't include this for several reasons. 1) too much work 2) certain combinations might cause glitches 3) takes the fun out of maximizing the original motor's capabilities.

Yes swaps are done in real life. I swapped a h22 in my CB9, but in a game, I can live without it. It won't kill me. I bet you that GT5's positives will greatly outnumber is negatives. Check out this thread https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=60043. I actually read the first 52 pages of this thread. On Oct 13-14 when the delay was announced, I got bored and I wanted to see what they could possibly add. There is a lot from this post that was incorporated. They can't add everything. I am sure there will be plenty to be impressed about. Other than paint designs, I haven't seen much in Forza that impressed me. Narrow tracks and average scenery isn't racing, its arcade. Forza's cars were made to attempt racing on roads. GT's cars and tracks were made to stimulate racing.

@cygnus: What other racing game besides Forza can you swap engines...without editing the files?

Engine swapping isn't really a big thing and isn't really necessary. Most cars with swapped engines are either Concept cars or super customs...or Chevys. (Yeah, you can get the Corvette's engine in pretty much anything Chevy makes.)

Also: 1000 cars, the best weather effects EVER, changing night and day, 100 tracks and countless other crap and you're crying over no engine swaps? Look, if you need your diaper changed, go cry to your mama, 'cause the rest of us don't want to smell it.

well, this is weird, it should be alot of people in there with smartphones and twitter accounts and we still having no news yet, you know at least the contest winner :nervous::dopey:
